Halo CE campaign is overrated
God you're so fricking stupid. Of course it's shit now. It's the FIRST console fps to nail a good control scheme. It set the standard for everything after that. Apart fromt that it's just a good mix of fun things. It has fun physics, good AI, decent vehicle combat and bigger than usual levels for that time. The soundtrack was good and graphics were good at the time too. They blended all that shit together into a good mix and bam. You're have a game that defined a generation and sold millions. Today's devs can't say the same for themselves. More often than not they fail to even just get close to reaching the overambitious goals the set for themselves.
I guess what I'm saying is, play some fricking console FPS titles that came out earlier on their actual systems with real controllers and then tell us it doesn't surpass nearly all of them. That's just how shitty shooters on console were until that point.
2 is a massive improvement in terms of narrative, worldbuilding, level design, and a decent step up musically and in terms of core gameplay.

There is literally nothing to bad at. The game aims for you, there are no movement or weapon mechanics, the game is slow as frick, requires no aim.
The entire series was designed around analog sticks and so it's inherently shit. It's a stain on the FPS genre.
2 introduces a lot of jank and really repetitive king of the hill wave based sections, I question anyone who says it's a straight upgrade over ce. The arbiter's arc is nice and all but in return it fricks the pacing of the game.

The whole bottom clip is a cutscene whereas doom grants utility with iframes, movement mechanics and there's a risk/reward associated with the action (putting yourself in bad positions)

it's far from perfect, but i think both young and old people misunderstand halo, i know i did, but once i did i had a massive appreciation for it and i now don't get the hate.
yea, it's movement can feel a bit slow (especially next to 90s FPS and FPS games of that style)
love eternal but this is quite dishonest, with halo at the lowest difficulty possible.
if you gave master chief some more movement speed and health and the black-eye skull,halo 3 would probably feel alot like 2016. (even just the skull can help alot)
tbh I thought it was mostly fine? The swamp was kind of a pain I guess but that's the only level where I ever felt like I was lost in corridors. And as much as the game does copy paste I thought alien monolith architecture was enough to keep it from being to mind numbing. The open battlefields were still pretty cool.
The first half of the CE campaign is the only time Halo was good.
The only bad part about Halo is backtracking and copypasted levels, otherwise it's a perfect game
