xerneas and yveltal i think, because no one really cares about them one way or the other - including their own games

Ruby and Sapphire would probably be the closest, but Fug pounces both of them in popularity though.
Lesser, but both the X & Y ones were meme'd on at release (gay deer & bacon bird)

nobody has a strong opinion on xerneas or yveltal
most people seem to dislike both reshiram and zekrom
groudon and kyogre seem to both be pretty well-liked

Nope. Kinda the whole point, you're loopy if you think GF don't pick a canon story to tell (including legendary encounter), then go and change it up to fit the paired version (BW being a prime example, N's wants are an idealistic view of the world, contrary to the truth of pokémon staying with humans, because they wanted to stay with their humans. Story works in Black, doesn't in White).

So who's canon, Solgaleo or Lunala?

Imbecile, N's most canonic pair is in qhite with Reshiram, and the truth is that humans do indeed abuse pokémon and brainwash them with drugs to force them to be willing and obedient servants. Only here I recall morons being wrong everything they say

Also reshiram and zekrom are actually deviated truth and fake ideals, since kyurem is the actual embodiment of both as he also holds their core (and because, banally, you can only be so moronic to forget what you are and fight yourself).

Thats impossible because theres always the most masculine legendary that gets more chosen. However probably lugia and ho oh are the closest but imma bet lugia still wins

When did N return to the core games? Because that's the only canon GF work from, and the story they told in Gen 5 only works when N takes Zekrom, because separating human and pokémon existence, just to potentially save some abused pokémon (which had likely been hurt on Ghetsis' direction to mould N from birth) when the entire world had been worlking in collaboration with them for thousands of years (the various ancient poké-discoveries displayed in the anime to then-modern G5, Legends telling of the Ancient Hero, who faced God, never mind Arceus' own words on the issue "Much as that ancient hero once did. He and the Pokémon that walked beside him. To see such truths proven anew, beyond the bounds of time and space, bringeth joy to me"). So the Truth of the matter is trying to force humans to give up their pokémon for the betterment of pokémon will always be an idealistic view of the world.

I think BW story works in White too, it just has a different take on it.
N's view is based on his own experience and the one of abused Pokemon he knew personally and grew up with.
He's pure and his opinion is, in fact, not only an ideal but his *truth*, the truth he witnessed before starting his adventure.

When he started his adventure, he soon felt his beliefs challenged because he met Pokemon who were happy to be with their trainer, but that doesn't make the truth of some Pokemon actually being mistreated by cruel humans any less true or valid.

Reshiram resonates with N in White because as partial to his own personal experience of abusive upbringing N's view of the world is, he's genuine and innocent about it, he does see as a truth and not an ideal.
The difference is that an ideal tends to be a projection towards the future, whereas a truth can be valid for one personal experience or for some point in history but it's not necessarily universal.

Reshiram doesn't choose N because it thinks he's *right*, but because N's truth is real for his own experience and unlike Ghetsis he's driven by innocence. As the Pokémon of truth, it's Reshiram's duty to accompany N to discover a wider truth throughout his adventure, but it also allows him freedom to change his mind with his own pace and purity without any imposition.
Because you may try to impose an ideal onto someone else, but you cannot force truth, truth must be found by yourself, slowly, giving yourself the time to make experience of the world, internalize it and get over your previous beliefs.

      BW protagonist isn't the player, it's N.

He's driven by truth and is righteous, its useless to make so many autistic circles around the fact that closing living things into drugballs and brainwashing them to torture themselves for you is evil and WRONG, and that you wanting to sell your troony lifestyle as something good and acceptable because you couldnt survive otherwise without parasiting on superior beings is vicious and disgusting, but indeed representing america and americans really well. The only reason reshiram and zekrom even exist is that they were brainwashed and abused by inhumans into becoming smaller and smaller and further from their real self, which is kyurem, forcing then them to fight against each other, aka itself, and fight for human homosexuals' fake truth and deformed vile ideals.

N is simply right, his bloodline is the righteous owner of unova, making ghetsis also still more righteous than anyone else at all in the region. besides, how is it bad that 1 person or anyway a very little minority keeps abusing pokemon instead of the entire rest 99.9% of the population?

Literally fighting for the rights of abusing and parasiting on other beings, all the while against the actual owners and creators of the society you live in. The only right thing you said is that N is the protagonist, as if thats a thing only of gen 5 anyway. the soulless generic drones that you control in every pokemon game certainly arent protagonists of any story, theyre just to be relatable to the average human; a nobody with 0 virtue and no past. No ideals and no truth. Doing what it's being told to do with 0 space for self will or decision.

        This is the truth.

    Reshiram/Zekrom
It helps that they’re basically palette swaps of each other. Most of the other pairs (besides Lugia/Ho-oh) have completely different body types
