This. And you know what would've happened if the DLC was just a boss rush? >Wow $40 dollars for nothing but a handful of bosses? Fromedrones will buy anything!
You can't win with the brain rotted people on this board.
I already beat the game and didn't have too much trouble outside of a couple bosses but I also wasn't a moron that limited my tools to no summons and other dumb shit.
My disappointment was that mitsibushi-san decided the best way to balance and challenge the player was to make everything two-shot you even in full armor and with 60 vigor. Even after you have several scat tree fragments this is still the case. It's a boring way to design challenge and the only thing worse is using gimmicks like invincible enemies which thankfully only has that one stupid bloodborne enemy doing it in the abyss section.
Overall I thought the game was pretty good, but they need to stop balancing their game for the top 1% of players, that's a good way to frick up overall balance, it's a big mistake most developers make.

Reddit normie scum without balls or any shred of critical thinking
Third post best post. At this point souls is so mainstream that you get 5 "git gud" & "skill issue" shitposts under your critique regardless of its contents.
Reminds me of angry children getting upset under CoD youtube videos that called their game garbage in mid 2010s
Hate to say it but fromtrannies will defend their slop no matter what. Even /vg/ who actually play it agreed that it's 6-7/10. Disappointing final.
the tortanicgays are still seething over how successful Elden Ring has become; Even changing the narrative from,"ITS GOING TO FAIL!" to "JUST BECAUSE ITS POPULAR DOESN'T MEAN ITS SHIT!! REEEEEEE!"
Unlike you I actually play games, so I don't hope for it to fail. I hoped it would be the best thing ever, I even took friday off - well guess what, it fell short of my expectations. The dlcs at 62% on steam and the complaints are all the same.

I do wonder if it was a genuine overestimation of the intelligence of the playerbase. they thought that if they just said "here's your difficulty slider, go run around and find more if things are too hard. don't just bash your face against a brick wall" people would do it.
on Elden Ring's release, a staggering number of people would run straight to margit and then job repeatedly until they dropped the game, seething as hard as possible online. Ganker was particularly hilarious for a bit over a week, this right now is basically just that on steroids. >inb4 REEE
I just kept pushing forward until I got my ass reamed and then went elsewhere to get more powerful and come back later, the same way I play all of these goddamn games.
>here's your difficulty slider, go run around and find more if things are too hard
My scadutree level is 15 and bosses still hit like a truck.
This of course would be fine if their combos weren't insanely long with such speed and aggression that they won't even give you time to attack or even summon.
Once you get like Scadu blessing 6-7, the game becomes basically Haligtree difficulty which is normal.
No it is just a compromise to stop people from being either too overleveled or to underleveled in the DLC area. I'm actually happy the people who thought they could just breeze through on their level 200-300 character are getting assraped
Can you explain how the skibidi fragments are artificial difficulty but smithing stones aren't?
Are you using a summon or mimic? Those extremely long combos pretty much necessitate them, you can tell that From didn't like the fact they were being used to trivialize the base game so they designed nearly all the DLC bosses around relying on summons to pull aggro so you can get a few hits. That's why so many bosses also have the option to use npc summons if you've followed certain questlines correctly.
The problem of course is that the summoning AI is absolute dogshit in this game so a lot of the fights come down to pure luck.
Nah the bosses are still designed around 1v1, you just suck ass.
I've only been able to find 2 so far after beating the dancing lion boss. There doesn't seem to be that many in the open world from what I've seen. Havne't been up past the bone dragon lake or the bridge yet.
There gets to a point where the difficulty just stops being fun.
In the early game, ER had a ton of bosses that were decent fights. But once you get to the point where it's "play defensively while this boss does a combo chain that lasts an entire 3 minutes just for you to wait for a less than 5 second opening where you can get one swing in" is just not fun. Almost every boss in the DLC has been like this so far. The only boss that I actually enjoyed was that wizard knight lady in Castle Ensis. The Divine Beast, the Putrescent Knight, Mother of Fingers, Messmer, etc. are all just annoyingly long combos I have to wait to end just to be rewarded with a 3 second long opening to attack and if I take any damage at all while trying to defend against the boss combo I have to spend that 3 second long opening healing because all damage the bosses do either kills you in one shot or two shots
I already beat the game and didn't have too much trouble outside of a couple bosses but I also wasn't a moron that limited my tools to no summons and other dumb shit.

nta but it's fricking shit they've done it this way. I've managed to solo the dlc but it was just frustrating, it's like they stuck sekiro bosses into a souls game and expected it to work. I am really not looking forward to the next game.

Apparently you can get 20 Scadtree levels so a few isn't really very high level.
I think that the DLC is like playing your character from 1 and every Scadtree level returns you 5% or your previous level, I'm on 9 so that would be roughly 45% of my ER strength and resilience.
If I was as strong in the DLC as in the OG game I would have smashed everything by now, last week when I killed Mogh he didn't even reach phase 2 and died in 4 jumping hits.
In the DLC I'm getting my shit pushed in by random mobs but that's fine, that's basically what I expect from a Souls game.
I started the DLC but I still haven't beaten the base game. I'm worried I'm going to end up over leveled when I finally do it. Should I go back and beat the main game first?
it really ties to scadutree blessings more than levels, i went in at 150 and was getting smoked pretty bad until i found a fair few blessings because my negation was just too low without them. damage output was fine, living long enough to put it to use was the hard part
>Over leveled
Eh that's not really an issue. While the doc does throw ruins at you like crazy most will be used upgrading weapons. Also level 200 kind of starts the ridiculous amounts of souls needed to level up point. Also you get ass returns on stats so you might just not even bother leveling
Your level doesen't matter in the DLC, it's like the WOW expansion that made everyone's weapon hit the same, it really doesen't matter what you do outside picking up the fragments.
Do the fragments scale your character even if he's level 1 with the weakest weapons to be proportional or is it based on a "returning to normal" principle?
Guy is sort of wrong.
The fragments that upgrade you for the DLC are percentage based, so if you're low level, you're not going to get much advantage out of them. They won't save you from being crushed if you go in at RL30 or something.
But he's right in that there are enough of them, 20 levels at 4% damage and AR each, that they matter far more than your level past a certain point.
RL 100-150 is comfortable and scaleable. Basically if you can beat Mohg at your level, its a good level for the DLC
Iirc skibidi fragments raise your attributes on a percentage basis. So the scaling it provides is still dependent on your base stats.
Mate, you ain't gonna do Mohg at level 1 to gain access to DLC.
Anything that beats mohg would beat the DLC too, given you find the mandatory collectibles. It's just an artificial wall to prolong the gametime on the DLC
I was just curious as to how it functioned. It sounds like stats are factored but suppressed by the Scadubidubiduu shards rather than stats being pointless and everything being calculated off of the shards.
Every scabby level upgrades your damage and damage reduction by 4%. There are 20 levels, so a total potential of 80%.
If you did 100 damage, you would do 104 damage with 1 level of scabidabidoo.
If you do 100 damage you now do 140 damage with 10 level of scabeys.
And at level 20 you'd do 180 damage.'
But if you did 200 damage at base, you'd now do 208, 280 and 360 respectively. The higher your BASE damage, the higher the scabby will scale your DLC damage. This is massively more efficient than trying to add that same damage with raw levels. Thats why scabeys matter more than your level, but they are worthless without some base stats to work with. They don't magically scale you to DLC damage.
Anything that beats mohg would beat the DLC too, given you find the mandatory collectibles. It's just an artificial wall to prolong the gametime on the DLC
This expansion is like chemotherapy curing soulslikes
It's purging all the dickless tourists like Asmonbald
thank god, remember to always gatekeep your hobbies
>when you need to add even more delayed attacks, lingering damage and extend enemy combo duration because your game has the same barebones shallow combat you don't need more than 30 seconds to grasp
I've beaten everything but Radahn now, no boss has taken me more than 10-15 tries. Midra and Bayle (I didn't use the katana) were the hardest by far for me. For reference I have about 300-400 hours in each Souls game, and I have 200 in Sekiro. I've SL1 all 3 games but DeS
My biggest problem isn't even the damage or HP of the bosses, even though they are overtuned. Some bosses are actually impossible to hit with certain weapons/builds with the openings they have. Bayle, Midra, Rellana, Messmer, Radahn, etc. Try fighting them with rolling/blocking and a single UGS. There is literally 0 opportunity to hit them with R1s, rolling/dashing R1s, guard counters, etc, without trading. Some of these bosses legitimately do not stop attacking and it's... weird. I'm not sure what they're balanced around.
Orphan and Ludwig are my favorite bosses in the franchise. These bosses just feel unfair.
>There is literally 0 opportunity to hit them with R1s, rolling/dashing R1s, guard counters, etc, without trading. Some of these bosses legitimately do not stop attacking and it's... weird. I'm not sure what they're balanced around.
this is demonstrably untrue, but thanks for stopping by
No it's really not. Trust me bro, me and 2 other friends that both love this series and have beaten MUCH harder games are all UGS users and have swapped off oft them by hitting Messmer because there are literally 0 opportunities to get hits in without trading. Feel free to provide any evidence proving me wrong.
I just respecced off of colossal great sword because i steam rolled the last few bosses of the base game with it and now im being told it’s actually hard in the DLC?
Can anyone else confirm if colossals are actually difficult to use in the DLC?
Anon, I just killed Messmer with the Ancient Ruin Colossal Sword. Colossals are the easymode of this game.
Study his moveset - you can sidestep a bunch of this combos if you run around him from the left side (instead of wasting time on the roll animation). There is even time to hit him DURING his combos with a quick R1 or a crouch poke. It's just your frustration from being bad is speaking right now - keep at it and you'll kill him in no time.
And I hate to say it but this studio has hit a creative dead in their game design by exclusively focusing on rollslop gameplay. You can just tell they spent 99% of their time designing deceptive enemy animations to rollcatch you and 1% designing the entire rest of their combat system. It's hilariously easy to break the combat if you do anything besides stick to the boss, roll/jump and do basic attacks. >sprint in and out of enemy range >watch it combo the air for 10 seconds straight, with some animations specifically designed to bait you to roll at the wrong time >go in and poke it once or twice before it recovers, rinse and repeat
And that's without getting into all the broken mechanics in the game. I'm expecting From to catch on that people can do this and for their next game they'll make every attack an arena wide AoE so now you're absolutely forced into the rollslop gameplay they want you to play.
I just beat Rellana with my basic b***h sword and board build and it took me a million tries, but I felt like the combat system was firing on all cylinders. The thing I really dig about ER (and what so few people seem to realize) is that all 3 of your defensive options are optimal for different threats. I really started to dominate her once I realized that her side dodge attacks are basically free parries as long as you space correctly. The priority boiled down to: >dance at the edge of her effective range looking for parries >if a move comes out faster or slower than expected and I'm not confident I can parry it, guard and look for the counter opportunity 2 or 3 moves into the combo >if she closes the distance or winds up one of her longer chains, just start carefully timing dodges to get back to the correct distance
Her circular movement gets to be a huge problem if I let her get too close, she'll swing around to the back, hit behind the shield (parry hitbox or just guard hitbox), and completely throw off the rhythm. Spacing and patience were key. Really fricking great fight. I am worried that boss speed, aggression, and tracking are only going to increase from here, and it'll force me into less interactive options. But for now, I'd say ER's gameplay can reach the heights of what From's shitty rollslop engine is capable of, as long as you're facing an opponent who's REASONABLY on your scale and speed.
I was saying that fighting that boss with my basic b***h build was enormously fun, and felt like the need to hit all my buttons (lights, heavies, guards, parries, dodges) at the proper moment was the height of From's silly little combat engine up to this point. I see this guy built a ton of damage, and doesn't need to do all the stuff I had to. I hope he's having as much fun as I am, but from the clip it doesn't look like it.
I just don't like how dishonest the Putrescent Knight is. He will run away from you to wait out his poise gauge so you don't stance-break him, and he'll also dodge you constantly so R2s or any close range L2s you attempt fricking whiff.
long time fromslop rollslopping homosexual enjoyer here to say I think i'm done with fromslop garbage, being forced off my favorite build because i can't stand rollslopping anymore and just decided to exit game instead.
We are basically in the same honeymoon period the base game had. This board was flooded with people saying Margit and Godwyn were too hard. It's just the same shit, I bet two years from now people will be saying the Lion is one of the simpler bosses in the game.
>hate to say it but this game's difficulty is mind-raping people and they're finding it hard to cope
and that is a good thing, just look at Asmonbad, almost cried on his stream because DLC broke him on a very personal level.
>fight is either mindnumbingly difficult, tedious slop or utterly braindead and can require virtually no effort on your part to beat
fantastic game design
the games have peaked mechanically in dark souls 1 and since then have not given you any additional mechanical advantage (think movement in bloodborne or parrying in sekiro) but the enemies have continued to get more and more spastic
anyone who defends the encounter design in this game is a certified midwit
Guard counters and magic parry ashes are reasonably powerful, but not nearly as universally effective against every attack as sekiro. More often than not in ER you just have to overpower enemies with your build, stacking status, elemental damage, spells from a safe range, stagger loops, etc. I'm not defending the design per se (Sekiro still from's best game), but there is a rationale to it.
>Guard counters
If you aren't using a tower shield I've found this to be completely useless in my experience in the dlc. having to roll through all these multi-hit combos and attempt to block the last hit I'm always getting guard broken because i've had to use up so much stamina having to roll so much.
TBF, this is part of what forces me onto small straight swords. They use next to no stamina and have fast startups on pretty much all attacks (not loving the dodge stab though). Very few other weapons feel like they can poke through spastic boss combos like that. I wouldn't discount just 2-handing UGS/colossal and guard countering on them though, they basically match heavier medium shields statwise and tend to have hyper armor on the counter attack.
Does anyone know if using Scadutree Blessings puts you in a higher invasion bracket? I want to gather goodies on my RL1 invader but don't want to frick myself.
min-maxing Rellana's twinblade damage while staying at soft cap Vig and End.
Also Godrick's Great Rune and full goat armor for max damage reduction and poise. The build basically allows me to instagib trade any mob in the DLC and most of the bosses I've fought so far are pretty fun because I can still mid roll and jump while trading due to high damage reduction.
The anvil hammer seems pretty fun. You can find it in the forge to the southeast across the bridge.
The point allocation in build, the goat armor but like i said, if it works for you than hey, look at Asmonbald, motherfricker can't play the game for shit yet he went for Finger shield build and fire res gear and still uses Tree Sentinels Halberd. Different strokes for different folks, the only thing in the end that matters is that you enjoy the game.

I'm lvl 200 bro, that stopped mattering like 50 whole levels ago and I have more than enough larval tears for respecs because I'm on NG+.
What would you suggest allocating so many points towards when the swords are evenly scaled off of Str, Dex, Int and Faith?
Also the goat armor is the best looking top armor set. So I'd say you're the one lacking in taste here.

That would be Banished Knight mixed with some other parts. About point allocation, i got the answer for it in the first pic you posted with zero spells equiped in your build so you are playing pure melee build with no buffs etc. ie. basing your specc on weapon scaling.

>Makes invasions even worse than the dogshit they were >Makes the already terrible other pvp worse than it already is >Has like 2 good bosses out of 20 >Conceptual cool areas are just shit like the mountain with literally nothing but shit dragon fights
My personal take is Rellana would be perfectly fine if any of the following were applied >the start-ups for her combos looked more unique >she had 20% less HP >she didn't have Malenia's "dash to the side and attack" move to punish the player for trying to hit her
>she didn't have Malenia's "dash to the side and attack" move to punish the player for trying to hit her
That move's a free parry. Rellana honestly feels like From's apology for Malenia, it's the same boss but no bullshit heal on block or broken hitboxes. Her rotational tracking on some of her combo startups is bullshit, and the damage can be stupid if you haven't gotten enough scat tree frags (you should be at level 4 min), but other than that, perfectly fine boss.
only time i used mimic during the dlc was for leda's fight club fight because frick me if it isnt hard to impossible even with ansbach. they all have way too much health and do way too much damage
>bosses get to flail around like a spastic for 10 minutes before you can hit them ONCE rather than feeling like a real battle of wits, agility, and strength
It's dishonest difficulty. You could make ThE hArDeSt SoUlS bOoSsS ever by logically inflating health and damage to where you're always one shot regardless of vigor and the boss has millions of health requiring you to battle it for hours without making a single mistake.
But it wouldn't be a good boss. HOWEVER modern soulsgays would call it kino and slurp that shit up because they have no standards anymore and don't understand what made DaS1, DaS2, or DeS so good.
Unless you went with max vigor builds AND got the imascatmandoodododududu fragments every boss 1-2 shots you, and the extra damage doesn't offset it. You are railroaded onto a single stat allocation which goes against the DaS1 design philosophy of being an RPG.
Souls should have never been made after DaS2, and DaS3 should have just been the bloodborne 2 they truly wanted to make.
ending this homosexual was extremely satisfying (and watching his followers spaz out when the mind control breaks). If only IRL gays could be wiped out in such a manner.
How do I get in this tower?
Is it even possible or is it just a set piece?
Theres a light on in there and what looks like an altar. But no way in at the base and seemingly no way in from jumping down near the uptop part.
>sekiro flask
I would use this but im 99% sure every boss would end with the flask expiring and me attemting to parry one last string of hits and dying. How do you frickers know when it wears off before you start eating damage? Just use it with a shield?
I was thinking the b***hing was unjustified but she's just kind of bullshit man. Like she has this one attack pattern where she doesn't fricking stop attacking and it's impossible to find your opening.
At least Malenia was "fair" in that she would get staggered any time you attacked her but this one you don't even get that.
Pre-nerf Malenia was way more bullshit than this. Rellana's surprisingly easy to parry and stagger, though if you just try to dodge roll and jump L1 you might have a hard time. Put on a shield and learn the parry timings, you'll trivialize her.
Like with most bosses, do not roll away from her because she will keep attacking. She's actually much safer close up
Also there's always Reduvia cheese right there for you. That dagger is still broken even in the DLC, I dicked down Rellana after struggling for hours with my other weapons just changing to the dagger and pressing L2
what are u even crying about homosexual. at least u arent using stagger strength builds which suck dick btw, if ur reading this dont bother with stagger builds. every boss is pretty much immune to jumping l2s and even if you get the crit it does like no damage
>Beat Rellana with a lordsworn straight sword, about 5 or 6 crits from parry/guard counter, each one doing 15% of her health bar and giving me back 20% of mine
Crits are bad now?
How are you meant to dodge Radahn's rock attack, nothing seemed to work unless I get lucky and the walls block them, I had to resort to blocking and tanking the damage
>Everyone's complaints were towards the hyper aggressive spaz bosses >Make a $40 DLC full of them
People are going to forget about all the complaints the second someone starts shitting out metagayging boss guides then you'll see discourse shift to "it was always easy". Guaran-fricking-teed.
i find it hilarious how everyone laughed at comparisons between DS2 and ER in the beginning, but with this DLC it's just become all that much more obvious. i literally thought i was in DS2 for a second when I entered Rellana's arena.
my complaint was the game wasnt difficult enough because the rolls were too strong, obviously they arent going to nerf rolls so the only way to make it actually difficult is to increase boss aggression. given the binary of appealing to easymode shitters with the fastroll system and a bunch of bosses on par with the basegame and just steamrolling the entire thing vs filtering them out and having an actual challenge, the right choice was the latter every time. the shitters can get gud or get gone. appealing to the lowest common denominator as opposed to your dedicated fans is always the sign of a slow death of your IP.
i really dont see whats the problem with the game, not having any special difficulty as an int build. i just killed the divine lion boss and im not sure where to proceed next
Ranni's questline? No. You can still get all the items from it if you skip Blaidd vs Bloodhound. In fact I don't think any questlines require that you summon the NPC for a fight, even when their signs are outside boss rooms.
Most people underestimate how you need poise break on bosses and try to use dinky weapons and skills. The game simply isn't built for all builds, only optimal builds need apply. No one will beat Radahn with a Dagger build.
>No one will beat Radahn with a Dagger build.
If you played Souls games for a very long time than you know how stupid that statement is and its only a matter of time before someone proves you wrong.
>No one will beat Radahn with a Dagger build.
Good idea. I will, by parrying him. I already parried the shit out of him on my colossal sword build and got like 3 ripostes off that way. I think it might be the best way to beat him, short of cheesing. Next playthrough.
Guys at level 500, with 18 Scatman tree upgrades and summoning 3 NPCs: Radahn's too hard
Random guy on Ganker: I'll parry him with the basic dagger and win
I'm going pyro build. Difficulty is not that fair or fun. If I cant down a boss in a reasonable amount of attempts I'm summoning a mimmic or a player. No shame. 90% of times I saw people defeat bosses they did the same thing like every single other time except that time it worked. It's not play until you get good it's play until you get lucky.
Asked this in another thread but:
I looked up the new weapons and I'm really disappointed that it seems like not a single one fits my STR/INT setup. >Don't want to use swords of any description, because hipster >Every other STR scaling weapon is either Arcane or Faith. >All the new weapon types are DEX
Is there ANYTHING I can use if I just want to bonk? If not what should I respecc to in order to play with the new stuff and not be assraped? I've been having fun with the Gargoyle Halberd with Waves of Destruction on it, and the Fallen Beast Jaw.
But seriously you're going to struggle with a 'normal' build like that. That's like something out of DaS1. ER demands you use broken weapons with broken skills to have an easy time and pretty much banishes shields from viability. The game is designed around shitters with MLGS, Blasphemous Blade, Nihil builds
nta but baldie almost shed a tear when he b***hed how DLC is too difficult for him and how he is bad at the game etc., new upload with new build and yea he is using shield which made DLC piss easy even for a shitter like him.

Yes and no, he is using Fingerprint Shield, most he has to do is hold rmb and when boss finishes his combo he just needs to hit him once or twice, it doesn't get more braindead than that.

He b***hed about journos being bad at the game etc. he is bum who makes up fake stories of how good he is/was. I find it funny how he b***hed about camera and lockon being broken in DLC yet somehow the homosexual forgot about past fights like Midir etc.
>Goes for a sippy and just stands there when the Lion does it's twirl attack
Skill issue. The Lion does 2 twirls, a head bash then a breath twirl every time with no trick variation. The only time you should keep your distance with that is during his Frost buff.
I dont know about this Messmer guy.
I came close twice in my first attempts, like two hits from killing but now I struggle to get to phase 2. Maybe I didnt overthink it before
Guy is nuts
any time that happens take a break for maybe an hour or two. I bet you will beat him first try when you get back on. That's how it always goes for me. if I keep trying I just get worse and worse.
The point allocation in build, the goat armor but like i said, if it works for you than hey, look at Asmonbald, motherfricker can't play the game for shit yet he went for Finger shield build and fire res gear and still uses Tree Sentinels Halberd. Different strokes for different folks, the only thing in the end that matters is that you enjoy the game.
, never not even once have i used bloodhound sword in any build.
It could be good if normal enemies just didn't take forever to kill, if you didn't have to go treasure hunting before you can actually play the DLC. Discarding the awful scaling system it could actually turn out very well.
The game has way too many issues at this point Open world being one of them. Also, this BIG MAP=GOOD trope is a fricking cancer. The DLC world was EMPTY.
>Also, this BIG MAP=GOOD trope is a fricking cancer. The DLC world was EMPTY.
Sure, but I did expect that given the main game. What I didn't expect was a level-squish like this is world of warcraft or something. I don't think anyone enjoyed that, even on wow.
>hard >only artificial scaling to keep you from two-shotting most bosses
okay bro, whatever you say. This is one of the laziest excuses for difficulty I've seen in a while.
Since there are no STR/INT weapons in the DLC to mess with that aren't basic swords, what should I respecc to?
It looks like DEX/ARC might have the widest selection of new stuff in the DLC. But if I want to stick to heavy weapons STR/FAI might be better.
Thoughts?
Playing this, it feels like the devs fricking hate me, the player. Like the bosses Mesmer or that homosexual Gaius, the second I walk into the arena they bumrush me so fricking fast I can't even summon a spirit ash. Gaius runs over me like a truck, taking out half my health, and his running animation keeps fricking going even though he's pinned to the wall, instakilling me when i get up. I'm dead in under five seconds, what a shitty joke of a gaming experience.
And to kick you on the ground, it wouldn't have to be this way if their stats weren't scaled by like 5x because you have to find each piece to put you back at level with them.

Everyone, no matter their level regrets entering the DLC. It scales you to complete garbage even if you are level 300. The only thing that matters is finding it's collectibles that lift the curse that makes you a twig.
You could ofcourse use a save editor to skip finding each and every one of course, skipping the scavenger hunt and enjoy the DLC right away.

About as level-headed as anyone else, as it's so plain to see
What other metric do you want me to use? Some people struggle with DLC and are overleveled with meta build while other people SOMEHOW get to Radahn while 2handing a hammer and going straight oongaboonga like xqc for example.
i feel like 90% of the streamers i click on are using a hammer trivializing the game with 2 hit staggers while somehow STR gays have gaslit the entire community into thinking strength was le gigachad hard mode way to play the game, and then they get shit on the second they arent using hammers
i swapped back my cold gold troll sword and everything just started stumbling and staggering, all the people b***hing about colossal swords sucking made them kinda absurd
No one has ever, ever, ever, EVER seriously tried to argue that STR is hard homosexual. Its always been known that STR jump r1 is broken.

i constantly see people say they refuse to use any pussy shit and they'll only ever be a strength chad, and then proceed to pick a colossal weapon and stagger spam like they didnt just cheese the boss harder than a gay playing as a mage

Yes because katanas are for weeb morons and magic is a boring ass way to play the game.
People like STR builds because the weapons are cool and you're a dipshit for needing to be told any of this

But in DS1 I used Greatswords and ran a quality build as well... Not my fault my skills from previous Souls games carried over to Elden Ring.
Explain yourself. I you can beat mohg with skill alone you can also buttpoke every boss until it dies in this ridiculously badly specced DLC, or if your stats were sufficient, you can go find all the diddlydoos until the DLC lets you play it.
>you can also buttpoke every boss until it dies
You haven't actually played the DLC, have you. Otherwise you would know it's fricking impossible to do this with DLC bosses because they tend to have more powerful combos if you attack from behind than from the front.
It's not a literal buttpoke, just the term for very, very slowlly grinding them down. It's dull, it takes forever, but either way regardless of your gear that's what you'll have to do to go forward in the excuse of a DLC

>complains about items that you get through natural progression of actually playing the content
Just shut the frick up already.
Best metric is when you can kill Mohg. That will be different for every person, but I beat him at RL 130ish.
The DLC gives you shitloads of runes regularly too, so if you "barely" beat Mohg you'll quickly gain levels to make up for it. And the scadutree fragments everyone is talking about will be what actually scale you to take on the DLC story bosses.
It is hard, though. I've been playing it all weekend, finally managed to finish it all, and it was hands down harder than anything in the base game. I'd rather face two Miquellas at once than to have to fight Lady Pontiff or Promised Consort again.
>They quintupled down on the infinite boss combos and AoE spam >Rellana has a quick AoE that combos and kills you >Collect all the skibidi fragments if you don't wanna get 1-shot
I don't mind some damage rape, but they did go overboard this time, I think. They need to add better combat mechanics so they can stop with the infinite combos and AoE just because you have a spammy i-frame roll. It can be solved by not being lazy and adding perfect parries to the base game mechanics for example, or adding literally anything else that isn't just a roll. They missed a chance to do that for this dlc update.
I think it's because Shadow of the Erdtree was shilled so hard while any other Soulsborne DLC was more low key that people are now complaining about dofficulty.
Honestly, Sister Friede is way the frick harder tahn anything in this DLC, the bosses in SotE are endgame content so they should require at least a few attempts to beat them, but if you pick up Scadu fragments you still should ve doing enough damage to them unless your build is just shit.
Her first two health bars are irrelevant, the first is just a punching bag and you can literally ignore her on the second phase and beat the shit out of the old guy who's barely even aware of you. I'd hesitate to even call the fight an endurance test because there's nothing to endure until phase 3, which is just comparable in difficulty to other late DaS3 bosses.
Look, i'll tell you in a simplest way possible, i find Midir way harder than Friede so her being on any level of being compared to hardest bosses that From made is stupid to me.
As someone who tried playing with magic but eventually just went with Moonveil, I don't see how you have enough time to cast in battles without tanks to draw Radahn
As someone who tried playing with magic but eventually just went with Moonveil, I don't see how you have enough time to cast in battles without tanks to draw Radahn
the only 2 people i've seen kill radahn were hammer stagger abusers
>Is it time to be pussy and use the Scadutree shit?
So this is why Soulshitters are seething so much about this DLC, they refuse to play with the game's mechanics
This works for 99% of the bosses and I was completely fine with it all up until the final boss. It's disgusting how fricking bad this boss is and I genuinely don't know how you do it without a shield, even with the max scadu level.
>they refuse to play with the game's mechanics
Correct. Same applies to anyone that says "rollslop" since they refuse to do the 4 other things you can do to mitigate/avoid damage in Elden Ring.
reminder that everyone on Ganker loved this shit when it was the exact same game but called demons souls and wasn't popular.
Ganker is nothing more than hipster losers that hate on whatever is popular.
Ganker loves this game, redditor trannies are the ones shrieking over it. I am beating women and homosexuals to death with a giant hammer and you cannot stop me.
This is nothing like DeS. DeS doesn't have a save point every 30 feet, didnt have regenerating heal flasks and had rather tame bosses designed for you to be able to play as quite a variety of builds. Only Flamelurker, False Alant and Maneater were on the edge
Nintendo games are praised like a cult and they're shitty games
Fromdrones are actually worse than tendies at this point, it's ridiculous.
Also to let you know in advance, but if you see a homosexual that mass replies with "filtered" or "get gud" beware it's an indian getting paid 5 rupees per post.
I'm using the guts ultra greatsword. Just guard counter her anime spins and jump attack whenever she uses a heavier attack that leaves herself open. It's not trivial, at least not for me, but that's how I beat her. She has some strings where I noticed she whiffs if you strafe or duck at certain points, but I'm not autistic enough to figure out exactly when as it was mostly luck that I figured that shit out to begin with. At any rate, there's always the good ol Fingerprint shield.
>First mistake: Soreseal
The added damage taken is literally irrelevant >Second mistake: No ash summon
You're a homosexual >Third mistake: Using Vyke's outside PVP
You got me there these spears are worthless but I used them in my first playthrough and I don't want to respec or use upgrade materials on other weapons until this boss is dead.
I fully intend on using respecing and using Rellana's swords once I kill this c**t.
>RTS games become asiatic clickers that rely solely on memorizing build orders and reacting quickly >Souls games become twitch reflex tests that rely on solely memorizing boss combo chains and reacting quickly
Big sad.
All the bosses in this DLC are just unfun dogshit to fight against, I'm currently on Putrescent Knight and I still can't fricking figure out when I'm supposed to punish him and when I'm supposed to roll and I'm forced to fish for hits while he's in mid combo because he has zero down time and keeps tunning away
If you were to use the Grafted Blade Greatsword would you consider that a "boring-ass build"? That's the sword I use and I've never even seen another player using it. I'm sure there's some weapon you'd like. There is a lot of variety in this game.
I haven't gotten a single win getting summoned for lion dancer or rellana. I put in a hell of an effort one time with a katana guy on rellana, first time in a long time I encountered someone with a brain who realizes it's better to just summon one person. We balanced her aggro well and then both died to one big swipe in phase 2. We were also doing basically chip damage to her, I dunno why she has so much fricking health and damage
Fighting some bosses is a struggle if you're not using an actual build that multiplies a certain type of damage and/or centers around a really good spell or something. The days of persevering with a straight sword and kite shield are long past. I never really had to do build autism until this game. Same reason I couldn't get into Nioh ng+ and beyond
Just play a Strength build, wear good armor, and use a big weapon. I am literally playing the same way I have since Demon's Souls, and it's still working.
Any of the new DLC weapons worth trying out? I have been going unga bunga with the Ruins Greatsword but checking the weapons in the DLC dont really see any strength/int things. Anything cool to try anyway? Im fine doing a respec for something neat.
How so? Its got the unga bunga, looks like a giant piece of broken building, and the weapon art is basically an unnerfed version of the Blasphemous blade, but for magic. And its charged R2 extra explosion is neat even if you cant get it off against most harder bosses.
>Every boss immediately opens with a gap closer/Projectile to prevent summons >Once theyre in melee range bosses' hyper aggressiveness makes it hard to create space making healing difficult and reapplying buffs basically impossible
From just wants you to roll spam the whole fricking fight. You can't even fight the boss the way you want to anymore.
I'm finally tackling my NG+ swapping sets every other dungeon and it's been fun as FRICK testing out a bunch of new weapons I didn't even look at on my first game.
I'm in love with the crucible set, the sword has probably my favorite weapon art yet.
I love this game bros.
>use a summon (not mimic tear) >summon the NPCs that show up for boss fights for story purposes >just use a weapon that isn't dogshit (FromSoft has never been good at balance, not even in the days of old Armored Core) >game is trivial, beat every boss in a couple tries
How do people think this game is hard?
they have a 500 ms response time. It's the same reason why I can beat a boss on first attempt without looking at a guide while others fight it 200 times. I can see the swing coming and dodge it in time.
Because they are idiots that play this game as if their pride is invested into it, most of them need to be handheld until they atleast achieved NG+2. As if someone will really care if they do their first playthrough with help from a walkthrough from someone ala FightingCowboy.
Yes because these games are about exploration. They have been since King's Field. The Souls games are just an evolution of King's Field. If people play these for combat, they're moronic.
Because anon, you HAVE to beat the game at lvl 1 underwear with a dagger no upgrades no arts no potions no summons no bell no items no buffs no talismans
You HAVE to play it that way. It's written... I don't know, somewhere. But when you do that, the game really is hard, and you'll be a true macho after beating it.
nta but lets be real, no one cares about how fast you beaten the game and how many NG++ you on. Just have fun at your own pace.
t. anon that spoiled AC6 ending few hours after release for 95% of /v and /vg/
FromSoft made the game this way. It's their fault, and Miyazaki has literally said they make the bosses so crazy now because the players have so many tools at their disposal. It's why summons are something anyone can do instead of a specific build thing.
Yes and it's very stupid. I think people are missing the point about complaining that the game is too hard. It's not too hard, it's literally the opposite. It's so hard that the game incentivizes you to bullshit your way through the game with summons so it makes 0 room for people who want to play in a different way. That's the real criticism, it's not that shitters lose nonstop to Rellana, it's that she's designed to nullify anyone who wants to play the game without shields or summons. This philosophy doesn't mix with a game that offers so many playstyles and the devs claiming that anyone can play how they want. It's clearly not true
I didn't use shields or summons and I don't even know what she does because I raped her so hard
sorry you're bad, but it's best if you tap out now. If you think that easy boss is hard, the later ones are going to make you shit your bowels all over the floor.
I saw the price tag and immediately ignored SotE. I won't buy it until it is at least $20, which I acknowledge may just be never. Seeing the feedback and butthurt confirms my decisions was correct. This nonsense always happens with FromSoft DLC. I just don't have time or patience for this shit anymore.
These titles are slowly becoming IWBTG! tier video games for DS neckbeards who demand increasingly complex movesets and dodge patterns because for them Fromsoft titles have always been pattern recognition rhythm games for their SL1 challenge runs. On the other end of the spectrum are guidehomosexuals who just immediately gravitate to the most mindlessly broken and braindead bullshit they can find. This has become exponentially more easy and effortless because ER is open world slop where you can just immediately bumrush to your Berserk Reference Weapon of Buttfricking and trivialize the game outright once you've completed what is effectively an early game fetch quest. All you sacrifice is time. What is being lost here is the middle ground of people who would rather experience what is ostensibly an RPG on their own terms rather than either no-life the game so they can claim they "gitted gud", or just look up how to get through the game so they can sleepwalk through the game, just so they can tell their normalhomosexual friends they "experienced" it for clout.
The "Hard = Good" mentality is pure social media slopper logic, some of the dumbest fricking shit that has ever come out of the gaming community, and as expected, the default defense for this game on a whole. I just wanna play a fun game, man. ER wasn't it, and clearly the DLC fixed none of the problems the game had. If anything, it appears they've doubled down.
Mate you have a handful Soul like clone games. The way you b***h about fun i would recommend you to play that Crab Souls like game which is legit fun for people of your spectrum.
The hardest thing to me is the delayed timing on some attacks. The hippo grab in particular can completely frick itself. It's literally the only attack on that thing that I never figured out how to dodge consistently.
Yeah FromSoft has no interest in making a game with a complex combat system for their RPGs. They want to make exploration based games with boss fights that "feel epic" to break up the exploration. That's why they have huge combos, they're not meant for one person to dodge. They're meant to attack you and your summons simultaneously. It's why Igon doesn't even have a health bar in the Bayle fight.
Maybe if they'd update the combat system beyond i-frame dodges and basic attack spam, but as of now they just want cool looking bosses to highlight an exploration/dungeon based experience. It's been this way since King's Field 4.
None of the bosses in any of their games were like that until Das3

Yes because they saw everyone's reactions to Artorias and Manus and cranked that shit up to 11 in 3. You also didn't have nearly as many tools in the older games, you were slower, has less i-frames, and only occasionally had access to NPC summons. The crazier the bosses have gotten, the more tools they've given the player.
Demon's Souls had puzzle bosses and were some of the best in the series in my opinion. Dark Souls focused more on a refined experience, and got a little crazier in boss design. Every title they've made the bosses crazier as players got faster with more tools.

They have upped the complexity and tools as they've made more titles.
I mean what are the options. It's either making a completely new game (like Sekiro) with its own boss design, doing the same game again (how many bosses can we make with interesting fights with the same mechanics?), or upping the complexity. They've chosen to increase the aggresiveness and give the player more tools. That's it.
There is a frickton of weapon and art variety in elden ring, more than ever, you can do a million different things. Fights will be easier if you make use of more tools that the game gives you and there's nothing wrong with that. I don't understand where this notion that these games are supposed to be honor 1v1 le epic solo no items final destination duels come from when literally the first game of the series, Demon's Souls, features both a bossfight where you get decked by two enemies at once, and a fight that is clearly intended to be a 2v1 on your side ("The Penetrator" which the game clearly wanted you to make a 2v1 having Bior at your side), and both were great. I didn't see anyone complaining that you had to unlock him to beat the boss easily.
Where's the line here? Do you always beat Dark Souls without enchanting or upgrading your weapon? I just don't get it. The game offers more variety of tools to do things and you use the ones you see fit. And if some of these fights mean that the design is more thought for multiple players vs multiple players, so be it. I just don't get it.
>Yes but FromSoft has literally said the bosses are designed around them.
I wish there was some sort of incentive for beating the boss without summons besides Gankerirgin brownie points. I do find many of the bosses more enjoyable to fight without them, but frick me if I didn't ring that bell in subsequent playthroughs. I'm not that much of a masochist. That being said, some of the bosses in this DLC are making me want to RING that shit immediately. Maybe I'm just getting old.
I'm starting to feel the same, maybe it's because so many bosses go with a spinny twirly 10 hit combo with different delays and mixups. I instantly feel OOOOH IT'S ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE, roll my eyes up and start ringing after the 10th or so attempt
As if i care, i had all FromSoftware games platinumed before this "veteran" became known. Me spoiling AC6 true ending for all of /v and /vg is enough of a achievment for me.
My build was like 16 str / 80 int using the dark moon greatsword and I threw it in the trash the moment I found the carian thrusting shield and imbued it magic. Blocking pokes, blocking charge attacks, blocking jumping attacks, blocking guard counters. This thing rocks if you're a total b***h like me.
>This thing rocks if you're a total b***h like me.
I'll give you praise, you ain't a b***h if you learn how to adapt. You are better than 3/4 of anons itt
this wienersucker is the first boss that actually made me angry. No trouble with the Lion or Dumb Cumrag Knight and I actually loved the Mesmer fight. This homosexual though is just fricking obnoxious.
The Lion made me angry not beacuse of the boss fight itself but just because of the sheer audacity of them fricking reskinning an ulcerated tree spirit and selling it as a DLC boss
This DLC is not very hard. I've tried shield counter, hammer counter (with the new counter hammer), lightning perfume, and full holy caster (with and without BB) and they all get the job done
I'm loving the DLC so far, but maybe I'll change my mind once I reach the first story boss. But I'm mad that I didn't get the sword from that fast monkey.
>spent a fair amount of hours in the dlc already >everyone keeps talking about kind miquella >find his godly dump spots around >only the old lady said something about Messmer and it was the most basic shit ever
Considering he is the face of the dlc I was expecting more shit about him so far
Seems pretty manageable to me. The bosses aren't too bad. If anything's fricking pissing me off because of how annoyingly overtuned they are it's the regular enemies. Those buttholes with the 2 disk blade things fricking anger me.
radahn feels like a mod made by some thirdworlder imagining what prime radahn might be like. its clear messmer was planned to be the final boss and they just bloated the game after that
My biggest issue with 2nd phase are his light speed attacks. If he wasn't zipping through the air with 15 after images it would be a fine challenge. Hard to even get mad when I die to that, just have to figure something out eventually I guess.
>Get absolutely destroyed when trying to fight him normally >Decide to use Torrent out of curiosity >Boss becomes ten times easier
Huh, well that was unexpected...
>Boss is on a fast mount >You also have your trusty goat/donkey mount Torrent >FromSoftware did a prerelease patch where they changed that Torrent can be used in boss fights
Hints all around dear anon..
>spirit ashes sometimes just freeze up and do nothing until they get hit by the boss >some of rellana's attacks not connecting even though i'm pretty much standing still while other times I get hit even after rolling through them perfectly (most noticeable at her moonlight greatswords slash projectile)
I really think a lot of people should try the dual wield blood whips. One of the most fun builds I've done. >DLC only adds one whip >It's gross and has an ash of war only meant for PvP
How could FromSoft do this to me???
I don't know how you guys deal with the visual clutter some of these bosses shit out during their attacks, there were moments against Rennala where my view was completely blocked because of the fire/moon trails and shit she does during her wombo combos. Still beat the b***h but frick me I couldn't see shit half the time
I still have no fricking clue what they were thinking with this spell and the enemies that can use it against you
For me though?
It's throwing boulders at people, just like in King's Field 2
i don't promote it but lets be real, for newbies that are getting into FromSoftware games ER is too big with it's hidden content and specialy activating some parts of progression and reseting the world state.
I don't know today, but back then you just launched the game in offline mode. The mods wouldn't even work if you didn't. And yes you could cheat your save and then bring it online and I don't know if anyone ever got banned for it or anything.
I wanted to play the DLC but now I can't beat Mogh. I knew this would happen. I beat him no problem 2 years ago, steamrolled the game recently, I get to him today and he's the hardest boss in the game and I can't do shit except eat shit.
Can't summon either because of the the shit netcode so I'll get to it later lol
nevermind i had to jump down after an elevator on top of a bunch of shit.
man these soapstone messages help me out more than asking online funny enough
I'm mostly fine with the DLC so far, EXCEPT this is actual dog shit design. They want you to use summons and I don't want to do it. I did everything in the game + DLC with only melee and no summons. I'm not summoning for this 5v1. Frick off Fromsoft you c**ts.I'll just stop playing the game here if that's what it means.
Yeah if you didn't do the side quests you have to summon or be a literal god. I had a ton of spirit ash upgrades available since I've never used them before and went with the leyndell knight guy. Otherwise, near impossible with the damage and hp the npcs have.
>fight is designed in a way that main baddy uses companions >you have an option to summon NPC to help you out which is a part of lore >I don't want to do it
than shut up and do it the hard way.
>Finally beat Consort Radahn after ~60 tries over like 5 hours.
DO people seriously think this is fun? Man, take me back to the Manus and Artorias days.
NTA but, 1st phase is fine. 2nd phase is moronic, after I beat it I'll watch a video and see how anyone could possibly no hit this. I wouldn't call it fun though, no.
So I've tried all three of Memmer's spells with a +25 Memmer Seal
-Fire Rain is hot dogshit garbage. Maybe it is intended for PVP
-Memmer Orb is fun and pretty strong. HUGE AoE, pretty cheap. I use it over any of my Art of Wars
-Memmer Serpent is the real winner. Cheap as frick, hits as shown with no buffs and just the seal, fast cast, can chain them, homing. It's the new bread and butter nuke spells, goodbye lightning.
how do i dodge bayles flight double flame breath combo in his last phase? It's the only attack stopping me from soloing me since it oneshots me from 100%
You can enter after Mogh is dead. Depends what route you take but somewhere after clearing Volcano Manor and before you kill Rykard or Fire Giant but i always kill Mogh before those two.
>What level should I enter the DLC
Any late game level really, as long as you've hit the soft caps in the stats you use. DLC's own leveling system dwarfs all the post-soft-cap stat increases.
>And after all the Shardbearers are killed?
You just need to kill Radahn and Mohg
>EAT SHIT MIYAZAKI
Why you shitting on Mitsubishi? He would be happy for you since you adapted to beat the boss in your own way instead of using meta cooke cutter build.
Only have Radahn left, probably gonna wait a bit to see if he gets changes cause he's not really fun at all to fight. Phase 1 feels solid, nothing too dishonest, but phase 2 is just some thirdworlder's dragonball OC, ss3 hair and everything.
Which is a shame, cause aside from Gaius, every fight has felt fine. Putrescent Knight toes the line of bullshit, but he's fairly honest. Gaius can fricking go rot in a pit though. If Gaius didn't charge you the moment you walked through the door, and the charge didn't have a phantom hitbox, he'd probably be fine.
It's really not that hard. I'm a moron and the hardest boss so far for me has been Messmer, and he only took me an hour to beat. Just get good.
This. I'm not even that good and Messmer is the only boss that took me more than a few attempts to beat.
As with the base game, a solid bleed build will make pretty much everything melt.

Agree, when I see the reaction, I think the DLC should have been called Shadow of the IQ.

Most people possess an ADHD mindset now, unfortunately. Phones and social media were disastrous for the human race.
its about grind vs 'skill'
This. And you know what would've happened if the DLC was just a boss rush?

What the frick are you on about?
I always play in "story mode" (with help of cheatengine i.e.) because I don't have the time to whittle down OP bosses over hours on end.
What fragment scavenger hunt?

Hate to say it but fromtrannies will defend their slop no matter what. Even /vg/ who actually play it agreed that it's 6-7/10. Disappointing final.

Reminds me of angry children getting upset under CoD youtube videos that called their game garbage in mid 2010s
the tortanicgays are still seething over how successful Elden Ring has become; Even changing the narrative from,"ITS GOING TO FAIL!" to "JUST BECAUSE ITS POPULAR DOESN'T MEAN ITS SHIT!! REEEEEEE!"
Unlike you I actually play games, so I don't hope for it to fail. I hoped it would be the best thing ever, I even took friday off - well guess what, it fell short of my expectations. The dlcs at 62% on steam and the complaints are all the same.

the scadutree fragments are genuine artificial difficulty
This of course would be fine if their combos weren't insanely long with such speed and aggression that they won't even give you time to attack or even summon.
margit is still horribly designed and the game baits you into fighting him as the first boss
The only thing shitty about margit is his insta knives depending on where you stand in relation to him
Reminder that if you used them you didn't beat the DLC.
Once you get like Scadu blessing 6-7, the game becomes basically Haligtree difficulty which is normal.
No it is just a compromise to stop people from being either too overleveled or to underleveled in the DLC area. I'm actually happy the people who thought they could just breeze through on their level 200-300 character are getting assraped
yeah im at around 10 and feel really powerful, like its basegame. the fact you can go to 20 is insane.
>waaah why do I have to explore in my open world rpg instead of steamrolling the dlc on my lv 200 reddit character
Can you explain how the skibidi fragments are artificial difficulty but smithing stones aren't?
Nah the bosses are still designed around 1v1, you just suck ass.
I wonder, do the people who wont use summons also not use scadu’s or are they all big hypocrites?
I've only been able to find 2 so far after beating the dancing lion boss. There doesn't seem to be that many in the open world from what I've seen. Havne't been up past the bone dragon lake or the bridge yet.
Youre a moron and need to explore more
I have explored. There isn't any in the area I mentioned.

Brown game
There gets to a point where the difficulty just stops being fun.
In the early game, ER had a ton of bosses that were decent fights. But once you get to the point where it's "play defensively while this boss does a combo chain that lasts an entire 3 minutes just for you to wait for a less than 5 second opening where you can get one swing in" is just not fun. Almost every boss in the DLC has been like this so far. The only boss that I actually enjoyed was that wizard knight lady in Castle Ensis. The Divine Beast, the Putrescent Knight, Mother of Fingers, Messmer, etc. are all just annoyingly long combos I have to wait to end just to be rewarded with a 3 second long opening to attack and if I take any damage at all while trying to defend against the boss combo I have to spend that 3 second long opening healing because all damage the bosses do either kills you in one shot or two shots
get gud
Are you using a summon or mimic? Those extremely long combos pretty much necessitate them, you can tell that From didn't like the fact they were being used to trivialize the base game so they designed nearly all the DLC bosses around relying on summons to pull aggro so you can get a few hits. That's why so many bosses also have the option to use NPC summons if you've followed certain questlines correctly.
The problem of course is that the summoning AI is absolute dogshit in this game so a lot of the fights come down to pure luck.
nta but it's fricking shit they've done it this way. I've managed to solo the dlc but it was just frustrating, it's like they stuck sekiro bosses into a souls game and expected it to work. I am really not looking forward to the next game.
Nothing is designed around mimics, and even if they are, if use them then you’re confirmed queer.
Overall I thought the game was pretty good, but they need to stop balancing their game for the top 1% of players, that's a good way to frick up overall balance, it's a big mistake most developers make.
>invincible enemies
you can parry their grab and riposte them to permanently kill them
they drop unique loot
The amount of re-used bosses was pretty boring
I started the DLC but I still haven't beaten the base game. I'm worried I'm going to end up over leveled when I finally do it. Should I go back and beat the main game first?
you can do whatever you want, man
dont let your life choices be dictated by random strangers online
You should, youre not missing out on anything
it really ties to scadutree blessings more than levels, i went in at 150 and was getting smoked pretty bad until i found a fair few blessings because my negation was just too low without them. damage output was fine, living long enough to put it to use was the hard part
Mate, you ain't gonna do Mohg at level 1 to gain access to DLC.
Iirc skibidi fragments raise your attributes on a percentage basis. So the scaling it provides is still dependent on your base stats.
I was just curious as to how it functioned. It sounds like stats are factored but suppressed by the Scadubidubiduu shards rather than stats being pointless and everything being calculated off of the shards.
Their incredibly simple, stop overthinking it.
It's just an artificial wall to prolong the gametime on the DLC
it's so hard that there are thousand ways to play that don't count as "beaten it"
more like making them gay
just dont get grabbed
The cope that 200% of Elder Ring players still think that the "difficulty" is the ISSUE right now, is fricking unreal at this point.

Anon, Asmongold killed Messmer in 5 tries using his new build. It's an easy game, lots of normie girls are also playing it without any problems.
>when you need to add even more delayed attacks, lingering damage and extend enemy combo duration because your game has the same barebones shallow combat you don't need more than 30 seconds to grasp
Behind every get gud poster is a strength user who staggers bosses with 3 hits
Frick Messmer.
Feel free to provide any evidence proving me wrong.
i'd rather just laugh at you
I accept your concession then
>says something is "demonstrably" false
>asked to demonstrate it

Demonstrate it for us then, do dlc radahn without trading
Nah there is plenty of opportunities to hit those bosses
t. colossal chad
I just respecced off of colossal great sword because i steam rolled the last few bosses of the base game with it and now im being told it’s actually hard in the DLC?
Can anyone else confirm if colossals are actually difficult to use in the DLC?
shitter refuses to adapt. a story as old as time.
The katana isn't even that good against Bayle though. You could have used it, it doesn't change much
Anon, I just killed Messmer with the Ancient Ruin Colossal Sword.
Your build is trash. That's why you're struggling.
And that's not a good thing. Every single previous souls game is balanced in a way so that it can easily be beaten with a club if you're good enough.
Skill should matter more than build.
And I hate to say it but this studio has hit a creative dead in their game design by exclusively focusing on rollslop gameplay. You can just tell they spent 99% of their time designing deceptive enemy animations to rollcatch you and 1% designing the entire rest of their combat system. It's hilariously easy to break the combat if you do anything besides stick to the boss, roll/jump and do basic attacks.
>sprint in and out of enemy range
>watch it combo the air for 10 seconds straight, with some animations specifically designed to bait you to roll at the wrong time
>go in and poke it once or twice before it recovers, rinse and repeat
And that's without getting into all the broken mechanics in the game. I'm expecting From to catch on that people can do this and for their next game they'll make every attack an arena wide AoE so now you're absolutely forced into the rollslop gameplay they want you to play.

moronic
I just beat Rellana with my basic b***h sword and board build and it took me a million tries, but I felt like the combat system was firing on all cylinders. The thing I really dig about ER (and what so few people seem to realize) is that all 3 of your defensive options are optimal for different threats. I really started to dominate her once I realized that her side dodge attacks are basically free parries as long as you space correctly. The priority boiled down to:
>dance at the edge of her effective range looking for parries
>if a move comes out faster or slower than expected and I'm not confident I can parry it, guard and look for the counter opportunity 2 or 3 moves into the combo
>if she closes the distance or winds up one of her longer chains, just start carefully timing dodges to get back to the correct distance
But for now, I'd say ER's gameplay can reach the heights of what From's shitty rollslop engine is capable of, as long as you're facing an opponent who's REASONABLY on your scale and speed.
https://m.twitch.tv/calebhart42/clip/LongSpeedyYogurtCoolStoryBro-d-mPH5LcHInzICDu?desktop-redirect=true
You were saying?
I was saying that fighting that boss with my basic b***h build was enormously fun, and felt like the need to hit all my buttons (lights, heavies, guards, parries, dodges) at the proper moment was the height of From's silly little combat engine up to this point. I see this guy built a ton of damage, and doesn't need to do all the stuff I had to. I hope he's having as much fun as I am, but from the clip it doesn't look like it.

>sekiro flask
>ultra greatsword
its fricking gaming time. any possibilty of getting a second flask charge?
>fight is either mindnumbingly difficult, tedious slop or utterly braindead and can require virtually no effort on your part to beat
fantastic game design
the games have peaked mechanically in dark souls 1 and since then have not given you any additional mechanical advantage (think movement in bloodborne or parrying in sekiro) but the enemies have continued to get more and more spastic
anyone who defends the encounter design in this game is a certified midwit
Good. Hey good or stop playing. No one cares if you can't beat the game
>hey good
Damn fromtrannies are looking low IQ in this thread. Elden Slop did a number on you guys
>hate to say it but this game's design is mind-devolve people and they're finding it hard to digest
Why yes, I did completely respec my character so he could turn into a beyblade. How could you tell?
Also does anyone know if there is a good new str weapon in the DLC?
Wtf is even that build?
min-maxing Rellana's twinblade damage while staying at soft cap Vig and End.
Also Godrick's Great Rune and full goat armor for max damage reduction and poise. The build basically allows me to instagib trade any mob in the DLC and most of the bosses I've fought so far are pretty fun because I can still mid roll and jump while trading due to high damage reduction.
Thx for the tip fren.
Well that's a stupid build but i guess as long as it works for you..
What's stupid about it?
Putting more levels in health or stamina is pointless. I don't use focus and arcane doesn't scale with anything.
I'm doing basically the same damage as I was doing with dual UGS and 80 strength but faster.
>Point allocation
I'm lvl 200 bro, that stopped mattering like 50 whole levels ago and I have more than enough larval tears for respecs because I'm on NG+.
What would you suggest allocating so many points towards when the swords are evenly scaled off of Str, Dex, Int and Faith?
Also the goat armor is the best looking top armor set. So I'd say you're the one lacking in taste here.
read
>Also the goat armor is the best looking top armor set.
That would be Banished Knight mixed with some other parts. About point allocation, i got the answer for it in the first pic you posted with zero spells equiped in your build so you are playing pure melee build with no buffs etc. ie. basing your specc on weapon scaling.
>Using buffs and spells
Magelets DO NOT have rights
They DO NOT have skill
All they do is hide behind fog walls buffing for 5 minutes and getting two tapped anyway!
>Magelets
I'm not talking about magelets, look up STR/Faith/Pala/Fireball build for example.
The anvil hammer seems pretty fun. You can find it in the forge to the southeast across the bridge.
>Makes invasions even worse than the dogshit they were
>Makes the already terrible other pvp worse than it already is
>Has like 2 good bosses out of 20
>Conceptual cool areas are just shit like the mountain with literally nothing but shit dragon fights
My personal take is Rellana would be perfectly fine if any of the following were applied
>the start-ups for her combos looked more unique
>she had 20% less HP
>she didn't have Malenia's "dash to the side and attack" move to punish the player for trying to hit her
>she didn't have Malenia's "dash to the side and attack" move to punish the player for trying to hit her
That move's a free parry.
Hyperbole
Unless you went with max vigor builds AND got the imascatmandoodododududu fragments every boss 1-2 shots you, and the extra damage doesn't offset it. You are railroaded onto a single stat allocation which goes against the DaS1 design philosophy of being an RPG.
Souls should have never been made after DaS2, and DaS3 should have just been the bloodborne 2 they truly wanted to make.
Elden Ring is getting close to Miyazaki's ideal RPG remember: an action game.
Dark Souls 2 was not "so good" lol
It is objectively better than ER. Apologize.
Nta but please do explain how it's "objectively" better.
I can half agree. I think baseline ER is better than Baseline DS2, but DS2's DLC mogs shadow of the erdtree

Anyone else disappointed by great katanas?
>sekiro flask
Try out backhand blades aow, instant reposition iframe and a strong attack, and its cheap to use
Great sword beats boss's poise but yeah crits arent worth much damage anymore
>Beat Rellana with a lordsworn straight sword, about 5 or 6 crits from parry/guard counter, each one doing 15% of her health bar and giving me back 20% of mine
Crits are bad now?
Jumping attacks work fine, you can jump over plenty of that easy bosses attacks. Faith using homosexuals are just stupid.
>you can use any build you want in this game!
>as long as it's this one
Great game design
?feature=shared
Just got the death knight twin axes, worth investing into?
for pvp, yes, its mediocre otherwise. the long axe version is overall better imo
and thats a good thing! elden ring opened the floodgates to shitters and now its showing them the door
How are you meant to dodge Radahn's rock attack, nothing seemed to work unless I get lucky and the walls block them, I had to resort to blocking and tanking the damage
>a game where you can brutforce bosses by big sword go bong and jugg potions with occasional roll here and there is le hard.
>Everyone's complaints were towards the hyper aggressive spaz bosses
>Make a $40 DLC full of them
People are going to forget about all the complaints the second someone starts shitting out metagayging boss guides then you'll see discourse shift to "it was always easy". Guaran-fricking-teed.
>everyone gives dark souls 2 loads of shit for having enemies and bosses that track you through rolls
>most of the DLC's bosses do that too
i find it hilarious how everyone laughed at comparisons between DS2 and ER in the beginning, but with this DLC it's just become all that much more obvious. i literally thought i was in DS2 for a second when I entered Rellana's arena.
The Hippo also feels like a Das2 boss, as well as all the filler generic grunt bosses like the guy in Fort of Reprimand.
my complaint was the game wasnt difficult enough because the rolls were too strong, obviously they arent going to nerf rolls so the only way to make it actually difficult is to increase boss aggression. given the binary of appealing to easymode shitters with the fastroll system and a bunch of bosses on par with the basegame and just steamrolling the entire thing vs filtering them out and having an actual challenge, the right choice was the latter every time. the shitters can get gud or get gone. appealing to the lowest common denominator as opposed to your dedicated fans is always the sign of a slow death of your IP.
>skapabadoiboidpiboidodobodobombourededodon
>im the scadu tree
underrated
i really dont see whats the problem with the game, not having any special difficulty as an int build. i just killed the divine lion boss and im not sure where to proceed next
if i kill the dude in forlorn hound evergaol before i meet blaidd, does that frick up the questline?
Pretty sure i did that on my recent basegame run, should be fine
no
no. Blaidd gets trappend in there somewhere after Radahn/Nokron part.
Ranni's questline? No. You can still get all the items from it if you skip Blaidd vs Bloodhound. In fact I don't think any questlines require that you summon the NPC for a fight, even when their signs are outside boss rooms.
>deathknight in the fog catacomb
Solid boss. Easy once you learn the timings and easy to backstab, but fun
You probably could with a quick step dagger build.
Thank god I only play for exploration
Asked this in another thread but:
I looked up the new weapons and I'm really disappointed that it seems like not a single one fits my STR/INT setup.
>Don't want to use swords of any description, because hipster
>Every other STR scaling weapon is either Arcane or Faith.
>All the new weapon types are DEX
Is there ANYTHING I can use if I just want to bonk? If not what should I respecc to in order to play with the new stuff and not be assraped? I've been having fun with the Gargoyle Halberd with Waves of Destruction on it, and the Fallen Beast Jaw.
can we agree its getting a bit ridiculous...
Damn youre trash all those are easy to dodge
skill issue
try pressing the dodge button
There will never again be souls boss that doesn't zoom around the arena and make the floor lava.
Miyazaki-kun went in with the screen rape because there's nowhere else to go to make it harder
Should've brought 99 Boiled Crabs
But seriously you're going to struggle with a 'normal' build like that. That's like something out of DaS1. ER demands you use broken weapons with broken skills to have an easy time and pretty much banishes shields from viability. The game is designed around shitters with MLGS, Blasphemous Blade, Nihil builds
Even with a "normal build" he still has great ash options and ways to enhance his medium shield to serve some function.
It doesn't look like he has anything even on the shield.
>banishes shields from viability.
Is taht why asmongold beat the game with a shield?
>but muh e-celeb!
nta but baldie almost shed a tear when he b***hed how DLC is too difficult for him and how he is bad at the game etc., new upload with new build and yea he is using shield which made DLC piss easy even for a shitter like him.
Don't know how he tanks the 12 hit combos. He must have a stamina bar a mile wide
Yes and no, he is using Fingerprint Shield, most he has to do is hold rmb and when boss finishes his combo he just needs to hit him once or twice, it doesn't get more braindead than that.
55 stamina and a fully upgraded fingerprint shield will let you tank every bosses worst combo attacks with minimal chip damage if they have elemental damage.
Kind of insane how the DLC broke the guy. He's so arrogant with his defense of how much of a stubborn shitter he is too.
Eceleb shit aside, i find it sweet how DLC clipped his wings and everyone turned on him for being a shitter and a loudmouth. Any anons that enjoy seeing ecelebs suffer, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzyhZxOK9eM&ab_channel=AsmongoldTV
It's doubly hilarious because he prides himself in exploiting game mechanics tp the point that it's borderline cheating and how he rags on other people who whine about games and don't bother learning mechanics.
It's better to not attack him during his lightning phase. Figured that would be obvious.
The DLC is good just because it clears my man Mohg of all allegations.
fromslop cultists out in force
git gud
I dont know about this Messmer guy.
I came close twice in my first attempts, like two hits from killing but now I struggle to get to phase 2. Maybe I didnt overthink it before
Guy is nuts
any time that happens take a break for maybe an hour or two. I bet you will beat him first try when you get back on. That's how it always goes for me. if I keep trying I just get worse and worse.
Yeah I am definitely tilted. I just died twice in the first ten seconds lol. Gonna stop for today
this whole game is build around bloodhound step as default dodge and no one can convince me otherwise
you are wrong. pic related in my previous post
, never not even once have i used bloodhound sword in any build.
Any links for the DLC Artbook yet?
The game is fundamentally bad, it has nothing to do with difficulty.
I don't think anyone enjoyed that, even on wow.
>hard
>only artificial scaling to keep you from two-shotting most bosses
okay bro, whatever you say.
Thoughts?
STR/FAI builds are eating good. The weapons and spells are all ridiculous.
sort of reminds me of armored core 6 launch
wooooooooow
>No Skill
I chuckled
a cruise missile
Playing this, it feels like the devs fricking hate me, the player. Like the bosses Mesmer or that homosexual Gaius, the second I walk into the arena they bumrush me so fricking fast I can't even summon a spirit ash. Gaius runs over me like a truck, taking out half my health, and his running animation keeps fricking going even though he's pinned to the wall, instakilling me when i get up. I'm dead in under five seconds, what a shitty joke of a gaming experience.
And to kick you on the ground, it wouldn't have to be this way if their stats weren't scaled by like 5x because you have to find each piece to put you back at level with them.

>dlc is end game content
>have to go on ng+ to use cool weapons on over 90% of the game
for what purpose
Frick you on about?
mogh is end game optional boss unless you are a shitter that uses summons to beat a boss
>mogh is end game optional boss
dunno about you but i always killed him before i killed Fire Giant which i don't view as endgame.
I'm the biggest Fromsoft slurper on earth but Dancing Lion is a horseshit fight
>stupid dork on a boari is fricked up hard
>the literal mother of fingers, an ancient space alien god that gives 420000 runes is extremely easy
this dlc balance is all kinds of fricked up
>Needle Knight Leda fight
OH YES I LOVE NPCS FIGHTS WHERE THE ENEMY HITS ME FOR 1/2 OF MY HP WITH REGULAR HIT ON SKIBIDI 16 AND HAS 10 TIMES MORE HP THAN ME AND THEN HEALS TO FULL WITH ESTUS
OH AND THERE ARE 3 OF THEM
BRAVO MIYAZAKI
Hmm, if only the fight was made in a way that you too can summon and add into a fight to help you out, just like Knight Leda.
nooo what about my internet cool points that no one actually gives a frick about?
I don't mind hard bosses but the 15-hit combo shit ending in an explosion is just not fun
how do you dodge radahn phase 2 ghost afterimages
what level do i need to be to have fun in the DLC?
1000
150ish or if you want another metric, when you are capable to beat Mogh.
Beating Mogh is a terrible metric for the DLC to be honest.
Not that anon but disagree entirely
i beat Mogh effortlessly on my lvl 60 twink. As soon as I entered the DLC, I regretted my decision.
Everyone, no matter their level regrets entering the DLC. It scales you to complete garbage even if you are level 300. The only thing that matters is finding it's collectibles that lift the curse that makes you a twig.
You could ofcourse use a save editor to skip finding each and every one of course, skipping the scavenger hunt and enjoy the DLC right away.
how fricked in the head do you have to be to post shit like this?
About as level-headed as anyone else, as it's so plain to see
What other metric do you want me to use? Some people struggle with DLC and are overleveled with meta build while other people SOMEHOW get to Radahn while 2handing a hammer and going straight oongaboonga like xqc for example.
did xqc use summons?
nope, only on Knigh Leda and he used NPC summon.
i feel like 90% of the streamers i click on are using a hammer trivializing the game with 2 hit staggers while somehow STR gays have gaslit the entire community into thinking strength was le gigachad hard mode way to play the game, and then they get shit on the second they arent using hammers
i swapped back my cold gold troll sword and everything just started stumbling and staggering, all the people b***hing about colossal swords sucking made them kinda absurd
because they are R1 chads and not R2 or abusers which is equivalent to being a L2 abuser
No one has ever, ever, ever, EVER seriously tried to argue that STR is hard homosexual. Its always been known that STR jump r1 is broken.
i constantly see people say they refuse to use any pussy shit and they'll only ever be a strength chad, and then proceed to pick a colossal weapon and stagger spam like they didnt just cheese the boss harder than a gay playing as a mage
>they refuse to use any pussy shit
Yes because katanas are for weeb morons and magic is a boring ass way to play the game.
People like STR builds because the weapons are cool and you're a dipshit for needing to be told any of this
Do you use Faith? Faith is just the other side of the magic coin. Or do you go full 80 str unga bunga?
shut up Black person, there's a shit ton of awesome weapons but you grognards are only capable of doing the same thing in every game
Yep. "YoU DiDnT BeAt ThE GaME" which at this point is an unironic meme.
Meanwhile, dipshits are playing like it is DS1 and refuse to change. Who the frick is anyone else to determine how I or anyone else decides to play the game?
But in DS1 I used Greatswords and ran a quality build as well... Not my fault my skills from previous Souls games carried over to Elden Ring.
>strgay trying to gaslight
Explain yourself. I you can beat mohg with skill alone you can also buttpoke every boss until it dies in this ridiculously badly specced DLC, or if your stats were sufficient, you can go find all the diddlydoos until the DLC lets you play it.
>you can also buttpoke every boss until it dies
You haven't actually played the DLC, have you. Otherwise you would know it's fricking impossible to do this with DLC bosses because they tend to have more powerful combos if you attack from behind than from the front.
It's not a literal buttpoke, just the term for very, very slowlly grinding them down. It's dull, it takes forever, but either way regardless of your gear that's what you'll have to do to go forward in the excuse of a DLC
>he doesn't use Rivers of Blood
>he doesn't summon his Mimic
>he rages at DLC he doesn't know how to play
NGMI.
There's nothing difficult in finding all the eagles of gryffindor. It's a pain in the ass to lift an artificial hp-barrier by collecting shards for hours.
>complains about items that you get through natural progression of actually playing the content
Just shut the frick up already.
You need shadutree fragments to have fun your level doesnt matter once youre 120-150
Best metric is when you can kill Mohg. That will be different for every person, but I beat him at RL 130ish.
The DLC gives you shitloads of runes regularly too, so if you "barely" beat Mohg you'll quickly gain levels to make up for it. And the scadutree fragments everyone is talking about will be what actually scale you to take on the DLC story bosses.
everyone is playing this with a guide lol. thats how bad this dlc is.
It is hard, though. I've been playing it all weekend, finally managed to finish it all, and it was hands down harder than anything in the base game. I'd rather face two Miquellas at once than to have to fight Lady Pontiff or Promised Consort again.
Speaking of hammers, that new one that drops from black knights is really good
I love it, not had this much fun guard countering homies since using the broken turtle shield at release.
How long does it take an average person to beat?
All my friends are still playing it and I want them back
30 hours
Messmer's name is based off Coz Dashit. He made the mess, just like Coz caused the shit.
Was this supposed to be humorous
No, it's analysis of how lazy writers like George Lucas and Miyazaki (or maybe GRR if he had any hand in Messmer) make lazy names
No, it was supposed to be humorous, and it wasn't.
Did you seriously not know Palpatine's beta name was Coz Dashit?
i take on these games like i take on my ddr dance pad
>They quintupled down on the infinite boss combos and AoE spam
>Rellana has a quick AoE that combos and kills you
>Collect all the skibidi fragments if you don't wanna get 1-shot
I don't mind some damage rape, but they did go overboard this time, I think. They need to add better combat mechanics so they can stop with the infinite combos and AoE just because you have a spammy i-frame roll. It can be solved by not being lazy and adding perfect parries to the base game mechanics for example, or adding literally anything else that isn't just a roll. They missed a chance to do that for this dlc update.
Filtered
has a quick AoE that combos and kills you
try jumping
lmao THIS is the shit people are having trouble with?
I think it's because Shadow of the Erdtree was shilled so hard while any other Soulsborne DLC was more low key that people are now complaining about dofficulty.
Honestly, Sister Friede is way the frick harder tahn anything in this DLC, the bosses in SotE are endgame content so they should require at least a few attempts to beat them, but if you pick up Scadu fragments you still should ve doing enough damage to them unless your build is just shit.
lmao friede is not harder than radahn.
Friede has 3 damn health bars so I would hope she is or else Radahn is going to be a monster
radahn is the hardest boss they have ever made
If he stays on the ground I don't know how he can be harder than Darkeater Midir
No.
Invisible Aava.
Her first two health bars are irrelevant, the first is just a punching bag and you can literally ignore her on the second phase and beat the shit out of the old guy who's barely even aware of you. I'd hesitate to even call the fight an endurance test because there's nothing to endure until phase 3, which is just comparable in difficulty to other late DaS3 bosses.
lets be real, Friede is nowhere near of being as hard as Radahn or Mesmer.
Because Friede's difficulty comes from it's mechanics instead of having 7 undecillion health?
radahn's difficulty comes from his mechanics just like friede.
>mechanics
Attacking a billion times a second?
Look, i'll tell you in a simplest way possible, i find Midir way harder than Friede so her being on any level of being compared to hardest bosses that From made is stupid to me.
Has anyone killed Radahn as a pure spellcaster? He's currently fricking my shit up.
As someone who tried playing with magic but eventually just went with Moonveil, I don't see how you have enough time to cast in battles without tanks to draw Radahn
It's rough, I can sometimes get to the second phase, then its just a whole lotta shit going on.
the only 2 people i've seen kill radahn were hammer stagger abusers
Rellana is filtering the frick out of me.
Is it time to be pussy and use the Scadutree shit?
You were supposed to use the Scoobididoo tree shit just like you use leveling
Nah it's 100% for pussies to use those but I might just be a pussy.
>hes not doing an SL1 no bleed no talismans no weapon upgrades no skuhdootree upgrades no summons no consumables no magic no rot no armor run
fricking pussy
imagine the cod devs having to beg their playerbase to use their fricking grenades but then youre a pussy if you use them
>comparing CoD to Elden Ring
ngmi
>he cant extrapolate my comparison to any game of his choice to see how moronic he is for thinking upgrading is being a pussy
ngmi
It isn't the same as refusing to use grenades in CoD.
woah
>Is it time to be pussy and use the Scadutree shit?
so youre the moron audience the devs had to beg to use the actual upgrade system...
got her at level 4 but I was close to giving up, I think she's definitely designed so you go explore more first but she's doable
Like scadootree level 4?
yes
>Is it time to be pussy and use the Scadutree shit?
So this is why Soulshitters are seething so much about this DLC, they refuse to play with the game's mechanics
This works for 99% of the bosses and I was completely fine with it all up until the final boss. It's disgusting how fricking bad this boss is and I genuinely don't know how you do it without a shield, even with the max scadu level.
Slap on the fingerprint shield with a spear and you can get through anything
>they refuse to play with the game's mechanics
Only Flamelurker, False Alant and Maneater were on the edge
frick you on about? From is probably the only dev that Ganker praises like a cult. Even the "shittiest" product like DS2 is praised here.
Nah, tendies are infinitely worse because From's games are amazing masterpieces.
get gud homosexual. where are my 5 rupees?
mad cuz bad
I swear to christ one of her attack chains reads your inputs and will keep going if you try to attack her but she'll stop early if you do nothing
I managed to reliably kill this b***h with guard counters, strafing and jumping. She has low poise.
>She has low poise.
I'm smacking her with a fricking greatsword and she doesn't even fricking flinch mid-attack
Second mistake: No ash summon
Third mistake: Using Vyke's outside PVP
YOU'RRRRRE OUTTA HEEEERE
>First mistake: Soreseal
The added damage taken is literally irrelevant
>Second mistake: No ash summon
You're a homosexual
>Third mistake: Using Vyke's outside PVP
You got me there these spears are worthless but I used them in my first playthrough and I don't want to respec or use upgrade materials on other weapons until this boss is dead.
I fully intend on using respecing and using Rellana's swords once I kill this c**t.
>taking 15% increased damage is irrelevant
?????
Yes. I'm going to die in the same amount of hits to the same shit with or without it at least with it I have extra stamina and damage.
Yeah fat lot of good its doing you since youre still getting farmed by an easy boss
>didnt farm out hundreds of every smithing stone before the dlc released
do you even play videogames
>Farming in a single player game
Autism, not even once.
>RTS games become asiatic clickers that rely solely on memorizing build orders and reacting quickly
>Souls games become twitch reflex tests that rely on solely memorizing boss combo chains and reacting quickly
Big sad.
All the bosses in this DLC are just unfun dogshit to fight against, I'm currently on Putrescent Knight and I still can't fricking figure out when I'm supposed to punish him and when I'm supposed to roll and I'm forced to fish for hits while he's in mid combo because he has zero down time and keeps tunning away
>use bleed/frost build
>use spirit ashes
>use shield and poke
Just pick one or two. You make the game hard by choice.
where's the problem? Just take the shitter pill like Asmonbad did and start using Fingerprint Stone Shield build.
I would rather not play the game at all than play through it with some boring ass build and hate every second of it.
Post your build and equiped stuff please, i really want to see it.
If you were to use the Grafted Blade Greatsword would you consider that a "boring-ass build"? That's the sword I use and I've never even seen another player using it. I'm sure there's some weapon you'd like. There is a lot of variety in this game.
He's one of the most honest bosses in whole DLC. Just wait until you get to the 2nd phase of the last boss.
>Tell myself I won't rely on the moonveil crutch
>3 hours into the DLC and getting my ass kicked
>*unsheathes katana*
I haven't gotten a single win getting summoned for lion dancer or rellana. I put in a hell of an effort one time with a katana guy on rellana, first time in a long time I encountered someone with a brain who realizes it's better to just summon one person. We balanced her aggro well and then both died to one big swipe in phase 2. We were also doing basically chip damage to her, I dunno why she has so much fricking health and damage
You should both use frost and/or bleed.
Fighting some bosses is a struggle if you're not using an actual build that multiplies a certain type of damage and/or centers around a really good spell or something. The days of persevering with a straight sword and kite shield are long past. I never really had to do build autism until this game. Same reason I couldn't get into Nioh ng+ and beyond
>playing the game competently is autism
It takes autism to do that. Autistics are highly competent at their interest of choice.
Just play a Strength build, wear good armor, and use a big weapon. I am literally playing the same way I have since Demon's Souls, and it's still working.
ive learned the secret of this shit fricking difficulty curve
the devs have been balancing the bosses around guard counters
use a medium shield with the sekiro parry tear and the spastic bosses actually become fun
more bosses like midra and the mother please and less bosses like putrescant knight and gaius the boar fricker
god i hate bosses who run away
How do you feel about Micolash?
a c**t but more of a puzzle boss than an active battle
Midra Romina and the Mother of Fingers were all pretty good bosses actually, probably standouts in the game
Any of the new DLC weapons worth trying out? I have been going unga bunga with the Ruins Greatsword but checking the weapons in the DLC dont really see any strength/int things. Anything cool to try anyway? Im fine doing a respec for something neat.
Anything is cooler than the ruins greatsword
How so? Its got the unga bunga, looks like a giant piece of broken building, and the weapon art is basically an unnerfed version of the Blasphemous blade, but for magic. And its charged R2 extra explosion is neat even if you cant get it off against most harder bosses.
>Every boss immediately opens with a gap closer/Projectile to prevent summons
>Once theyre in melee range bosses' hyper aggressiveness makes it hard to create space making healing difficult and reapplying buffs basically impossible
I love this game bros.
>use a summon (not mimic tear)
>summon the NPCs that show up for boss fights for story purposes
>just use a weapon that isn't dogshit (FromSoft has never been good at balance, not even in the days of old Armored Core)
>game is trivial, beat every boss in a couple tries
How do people think this game is hard?
they have a 500 ms response time. It's the same reason why I can beat a boss on first attempt without looking at a guide while others fight it 200 times. I can see the swing coming and dodge it in time.
Because they are idiots that play this game as if their pride is invested into it, most of them need to be handheld until they atleast achieved NG+2. As if someone will really care if they do their first playthrough with help from a walkthrough from someone ala FightingCowboy.
>game is trivial
Wow sounds like fun and well designed game.
Not the person you're replying to, but yeah if you beat the game this way you will get all the b***hes, clearly. You will not be maidenless!
>brags about making the game boring
i wish i was as dim and easily entertained as you are
FromSoft made the game this way.
So no, it's just not for me anymore.
Mate you have a handful Soul like clone games. The way you b***h about fun i would recommend you to play that Crab Souls like game which is legit fun for people of your spectrum.
filtered + get good
>This nonsense always happens with FromSoft DLC.
But the DLC is the best part of 1
The hardest thing to me is the delayed timing on some attacks. The hippo grab in particular can completely frick itself. It's literally the only attack on that thing that I never figured out how to dodge consistently.
You've beaten DLC Radahn I assume?
Haven't gotten there yet 🙂
Yes but FromSoft has literally said the bosses are designed around them.
So they admit they have given up on making good games and are just doing whatever now.
>The crazier the bosses have gotten, the more tools they've given the player
they slowed down the time between rolls in ER compared to DS3 though
Yes but you also didn't have summons, powerstancing, and such crazy weapon arts in 3.
You forgot crouching, jumping and guard counters. ER also gives you a shit ton of stat altering equipment that makes it really easy to try out slightly new builds without very much commitment.
Well until you've beaten him your opinion has no value. Everything before this is easy mode in comparison.
People that use summons and people that don't use summons are playing a fundamentally different game.
And ones are having fun, while the others have been seething for 2 years straight.
you will never be a souls veteran
That's a man
>souls veteran
>286 deaths
Didn't Xqc get to Radahn with 300ish deaths with no blessings or summons?
it doesnt matter
you will NEVER be a souls veteran
As if i care, i had all FromSoftware games platinumed before this "veteran" became known. Me spoiling AC6 true ending for all of /v and /vg is enough of a achievment for me.
>no dlc summons or blessings
>still insists on using powerstanced great stars
you're not fooling anyone b***h
she's manlier than you, dex b***h
Is that a troony joke?
>troony joke
nobody mentioned your life THOUGH
>playing my total Ranni simp with MLGS
>the only other STR/INT weapon I found so far is a giant reskinned troll sword
Without spoilers do I get something new I can work with or should I just respec? I just beat notPontiff lady and the odachis I found are tempting
Hey, how do i get to these areas? I can´t find a way down...
this wienersucker is the first boss that actually made me angry.
I've tried shield counter, hammer counter (with the new counter hammer), lightning perfume, and full holy caster (with and without BB) and they all get the job done
why don't you git gud Ganker?
I did and the DLC is super fricking easy. Imagine being bad like Ganker; couldn't be me
How are you meant to dodge Metyr's massive AOE attacks?
I'm loving the DLC so far, but maybe I'll change my mind once I reach the first story boss. But I'm mad that I didn't get the sword from that fast monkey.
sword and board is the only sovlfvl way to play
Try the dueling shield it's fun.
>spent a fair amount of hours in the dlc already
>everyone keeps talking about kind miquella
>find his godly dump spots around
>only the old lady said something about Messmer and it was the most basic shit ever
Find the tree fragments you morons lol
Apparently 90% of the negative reviews are from Chinese players LOL
Why?
They're complaining about difficulty
Stupid chinks can't into vidya?
Regardless of the difficulty the bosses movesets are simple bad. They've lossed their readability which once was a corner stone of Souls.
That dancing lion is an atrocious mess alone that never should have existed.
I just cast Memmer's Orb over and over and win
radahn feels like a mod made by some thirdworlder imagining what prime radahn might be like. its clear messmer was planned to be the final boss and they just bloated the game after that
My biggest issue with 2nd phase are his light speed attacks. If he wasn't zipping through the air with 15 after images it would be a fine challenge. Hard to even get mad when I die to that, just have to figure something out eventually I guess.
>Get absolutely destroyed when trying to fight him normally
>Decide to use Torrent out of curiosity
>Boss becomes ten times easier
Huh, well that was unexpected...
>Le mounted boss is easier when you're... LE MOUNTED
>Boss is on a fast mount
>You also have your trusty goat/donkey mount Torrent
>FromSoftware did a prerelease patch where they changed that Torrent can be used in boss fights
Hints all around dear anon..
I fought him on the ground with a dueling shield, like a man.
>with a shield
>like a man
There's nothing manlier than standing firm against a tough opponent, dueling shield in hand.
Based.
I really wanted to use the dueling shield, but I haven't been able to find it.
Do some exploring in shadow keep.
>spirit ashes sometimes just freeze up and do nothing until they get hit by the boss
>some of rellana's attacks not connecting even though i'm pretty much standing still while other times I get hit even after rolling through them perfectly (most noticeable at her moonlight greatswords slash projectile)
you can just tell this was coded by jeets
Only Messmer and Radahn give some actual challenge until you figure there are ways to go around them.
I really think a lot of people should try the dual wield blood whips. One of the most fun builds I've done.
>DLC only adds one whip
>It's gross and has an ash of war only meant for PvP
How could FromSoft do this to me???
I don't know how you guys deal with the visual clutter some of these bosses shit out during their attacks, there were moments against Rennala where my view was completely blocked because of the fire/moon trails and shit she does during her wombo combos. Still beat the b***h but frick me I couldn't see shit half the time
>trivializes every big boss
I will NOT fight the camera, bayle the dread? more like bayle the dead lmao
I still have no fricking clue what they were thinking with this spell and the enemies that can use it against you
For me though?
It's throwing boulders at people, just like in King's Field 2
>Ganker has been so thoroughly subverted that anons are actually agreeing with the guy promoting the usage of guides and walkthroughs
i don't promote it but lets be real, for newbies that are getting into FromSoftware games ER is too big with it's hidden content and specialy activating some parts of progression and reseting the world state.
Modding gets you banned in this game, right?
Why would you want to mod anon? You aren’t trying to make the game easier are you? We’ll have to ratio you on X if you do.
Outfit mods.
I don't know today, but back then you just launched the game in offline mode. The mods wouldn't even work if you didn't. And yes you could cheat your save and then bring it online and I don't know if anyone ever got banned for it or anything.
They got banned if they added inaccessible items. I believe the easy anticheat is more for issues like people cheating in unlimited health for PvP.
Cloud saves and getting all NG endings in one playthrough ain't bannable, as long as the save file is your file.
y ok? But that's nothing to do with modding. Making saves.
>Bayle's incantations require like 50 arcane to use
Dude... frick you...
and they're both worse than your regular dragon incants
I wanted to play the DLC but now I can't beat Mogh. I knew this would happen. I beat him no problem 2 years ago, steamrolled the game recently, I get to him today and he's the hardest boss in the game and I can't do shit except eat shit.
Can't summon either because of the the shit netcode so I'll get to it later lol
u could comet azur him before he even gets to touch you
how do i get to this area
Isn't there a spirit spring in the area below it?
There is a lot of stuff in that area, which part exactly?
the bridge lookin segment there. its up top and theres an archer golem there
nevermind i had to jump down after an elevator on top of a bunch of shit.
man these soapstone messages help me out more than asking online funny enough
I'm mostly fine with the DLC so far, EXCEPT this is actual dog shit design. They want you to use summons and I don't want to do it. I did everything in the game + DLC with only melee and no summons. I'm not summoning for this 5v1. Frick off Fromsoft you c**ts.I'll just stop playing the game here if that's what it means.
The vendor guy can join in? Thank frick I didn't have to deal with him
Yeah if you didn't do the side quests you have to summon or be a literal god. I had a ton of spirit ash upgrades available since I've never used them before and went with the leyndell knight guy. Otherwise, near impossible with the damage and hp the npcs have.
>fight is designed in a way that main baddy uses companions
>you have an option to summon NPC to help you out which is a part of lore
>I don't want to do it
than shut up and do it the hard way.
Finally beat Consort Radahn after ~60 tries over like 5 hours.
Full strength with heavy shield and armor works well.
>Finally beat Consort Radahn after ~60 tries over like 5 hours.
DO people seriously think this is fun? Man, take me back to the Manus and Artorias days.
You are saying it like Manus and Midir didn't filter half of Ganker ie. having bigger death counts.
NTA but, 1st phase is fine. 2nd phase is moronic, after I beat it I'll watch a video and see how anyone could possibly no hit this. I wouldn't call it fun though, no.
1st phase is fun
2nd is cancer, I certainly won't do it again (unless patched), but come on it's sunday I didn't have anything else to do.
It's the new bread and butter nuke spells, goodbye lightning.
radahn literally slides around like a lord of the fallen enemy just so he can stay in range of you
how do i dodge bayles flight double flame breath combo in his last phase? It's the only attack stopping me from soloing me since it oneshots me from 100%
Unlocking for the 2nd beam worked consistently for me.
in what angle do you sprint? how do dodge the first breath?
I run into the first breath and roll just before it hits. For the 2nd one I run left of it and roll just before it's about to hit.
>commander gayass
>they made it so you can't summon or mount for like 1 second after phasing in while he's charging you
EBIN
everything about his design is how i know miyazaki has lost his touch
You guys were not lying, Gaius is the worst piece of shit I have ever fought in video games ever
What level should I enter the DLC? And after all the Shardbearers are killed?
You can enter after Mogh is dead. Depends what route you take but somewhere after clearing Volcano Manor and before you kill Rykard or Fire Giant but i always kill Mogh before those two.
>What level should I enter the DLC
Any late game level really, as long as you've hit the soft caps in the stats you use. DLC's own leveling system dwarfs all the post-soft-cap stat increases.
>And after all the Shardbearers are killed?
You just need to kill Radahn and Mohg
I let my mimic solo the boar homosexual while I cast Heal From Afar on it
LOL
EAT SHIT MIYAZAKI
Miyazaki wants you to play the game in whatever way works best for you, that's why he put all these tools in the game 🙂
