I remember that too. CDPR had to update that scene to make it as clear as possible to who Angel and Skye were. Even then it was no big deal, you didn't have to interact with either of them. You just had to pick one to gain access into the club. And you don't even sleep with them either. They give you words of wisdom and comfort from what I remember.

Shadowheart, as an example, can definitely have a lesbian option, but the player should have to put in some basic fricking work to convince her, and Astarion can carry on being a bisexual manprostitute because it fits. The problem is that there's really zero nuance to the romance options, and in a lot of cases the "no thx bro" is really fricking extreme like the gale example earlier where it's "gay sex", "gay sex", or "frick off cats are shit, you're shit, die."

The conversation leads to "I WANT SEX WITH YOU AND IF YOU REJECT ME I'LL HATE YOU". I didn't click on it for obvious reasons, but then she still throws herself at you and has the exact same discussion at the Tiefling party.
Shadowheart flirts PLENTY, constantly throws herself at you, demands a pity party and a date at the tiefling party and acts like a wounded dog if you reject her, and to top it all of if you go dark urge and don't romance anyone she's still ASSIGNED as your default romance and she talks about all the times we flirted despite the fact i always told her to frick off.
Astarion also demands sex so long as

It really feels to me like it's just a problem specific to Gale. You actually have to actively flirt with Astarion and even then, you have to go out of your way for that since he's a bit trickier to romance, and Wyll has a lot of options where he won't even try flirting with you unless you go out of your way and ask, and even then, the options after you pick something leading up to it feels very cordial.
Yeah, Halsin has a little bit of it, but it's easier to avoid. Gale has basically no options to turn him down if you accidentally encourage him early in. The game was still treating him as my second "romance" until I finally paired up with Shadowheart.

The other good type of playersexual is Fallout 4 in which characters don't go around talking about their sexuality, Paladin Danse never mentions it once so you can just think he's gay if you're male SS or he's straight if you're female.
Here the characters are obviously straight and if you're a gay man and try to romance them they treat you like a woman, talk about how much straight sex they have, talk about how much they like bleeding front holes and your character does feminine animations during their scenes.

You break oath incredibly quickly if you're a pally. Act 3 becomes much more compelling with personal stakes for your character. You kill small woodland creatures quite often, most of the time randomly and uncontrolled.
Its honestly the fane of this game where its the true main character and has so much more going for it than other origins.

It wasn't until after I started going back and replaying different sections of the early game and act 2 that I realized how really lazy the writing feels. At first I thought the writing was fine because I wasn't having any of the issues other people seemed to have and made the fair but in hindsight baseless assumption that there were other dialog paths to go down that I was avoiding because of RP.
The minute I started experimenting was the moment I learned how shallow everything really is.
There are still aspects of the game I like. I do genuinely have fun with it but man does this game feel like it has a bunch of wasted opportunities baked into it.
It's so fricking linear too, like oppressively so, I hadn't realized how bad it actually was until I started replaying the early game. You can't go anywhere, you can't do anything. There's actually one way forward and one destination to go to. Yeah you can skip the underdark shit if you want but so what? That's my option, skip content?
In BG's 1 and 2 I could literally frick off to whatever part of the map I wanted to right after the game started as long as I put the effort in to get there and there was cool shit waiting for me. I could have whatever kind of adventure I wanted.
I don't regret buying into the EA 5 years ago or whatever to have what amounts to a free game now but man, this is really the only thing they could give us?
Could I hypothetically romance Astarion, do the ritual to make him a vampire lord, then do the Dark Urge ending to make him my slave?

multiclassing limitation were removed to make the game easier.
Backgrounds for the most part don't severely influence the game except for the default one you get from Dark Urge. Races and Classes have more impact, but nothing crazy unless you roll a Drow.

Honestly, it's only Gale that has this issue. The game acted like I was romantic to him, despite turning him down at each attempt, I only even knew that the game had triggered these flags after I got far enough into the Shadowheart romance that she said something about me picking her over Gale. None of the other companions had this issue though.
Halsin comes on strong too. I hardly even spoke to him personally. Simply doing his quests and saving his ass in chapter 3 was enough for him to confess to me. So much for whatever shit the romance writer was saying in interviews about complex romances.

Astarion won't do fricked up shit like that if you don't prompt it first, but he also won't do anything good either. And he definitely won't like it if you do anything good. He's an evil character with potential to do some good. But I find it a hard buy that he'd have an epiphany like that, when every other action that doesn't involve him romancing you, is him being a shitty person. He'll even become an even shittier person if he turns full vampire. The game tries to blame this on the power corrupting him. But I don't buy it. The reason he was so easily corrupted is because he was already a shitty person through and through.

About three times I think. I want to say as soon as you interact with the gnomes/door does it start, but I'm not sure. Once you get the first cutscene after a long rest you'll know it's started though.
