The french artstyle is repugnant; it "evolved" from being a parody of anime (due to be one of the biggest consumer of japanese culture in the world) combined with an obsession with tolkien fantasy sprinkled with dust of france being a dessin animé (french cartoons, that have a very distinct style depending on the target audience) powerhouse in the 90s-early 2000s. Add to that the fact that the style has become VERY influenced by american comics since early 2000s (both in style and in ~~*ideology*~~) and you have a recipe for a tasteless and incoherent mishmash of artistics style, narratives, uninspiring OSTs and lack of technical innovations.

I don't like the language or French pseudo-intellectualism,
but I find myself enjoying Francophone-made games without realizing it.
The AAA titles in particular often try (relatively) weird shit in storytelling and take risks compared to other western studios' games. I don't always enjoy the direction they go in, but I can appreciate the attempt.
Other western games just wallow in self-pity and "I'm so depressed!" to try and pass off as profound.
Remember Me was a nice surprise.
