episode 3 was my biggest for years
even if they released it tonight it'd be HL3, episode 3 is long dead and buried
came here to say both of these, i am a utter shill for Prey 1, and no situation pisses me of than human heads hostile take over and kino being destroyed
I guess Starcraft: Ghost was the first big one for me
camelot unchained
actually came to type this
it has a lot of good ideas going for it, but I'm far past the point where I'd be willing to sink hours into it if it does come out
SW 1313 broke me as a kid
worse- i was looking forward to kingdom hearts 3 for over a decade and it actually released but it was dogshit
FF13 Versus will always be my big gaming "what if"
Star Wars 1313 is a close second, like that other anon said
It can actually be nicer to just want something than to actually get it, sometimes. For example, it was probably more fun to think about Duke Nukem Forever than it was to actually play the game we got. The winning move is to imagine the pie in the sky shit when it's still just an idea, then to drop your expectations to the floor when it's finally about to come out.
Relatedly, I sometimes wonder if Ganker tries to find reasons to shit on upcoming games as a way of managing expectations. Post-release discussion is usually also negative, regardless of how the game turns out, but that could just be how the tone of the pre-release discussion influences it.
Warcraft 4
Same anon...
I didn't know what to expect from Cyberpunk but I was disappointed regardless
>releasing... when it's ready.
Yes.
Prey 2, Frick Zenimax-Bethesda trying to do a hostile take over of the IP, Pete Hines should have been fired the day he came out saying it wasn't up to their "quality standard", frick him and him that god damn company.
I remember this. Still have a little ad sheet for it in my physical copy of 360 skyrim
I got to meet the level designer a few years back and he was telling me how much work they put into the ID tech 4 and how it was basically his dream come true to finally see it nearing completion (roughly 80% by e3 2011), I feel horrible for the guy, Bethesda should been sued the shit out of and Pete Hines should have been fired after 76 came out.
What's extra annoys me is that you can't buy the original 2006 Prey anywhere legally anymore. Either because of the publishing rights or because of music license fees. It feels like Bethesda want the title to be forgotten.
They essentially wanted to buy the IP out right and take the series in a completely different direction, well roughly 4-5 months after e3 2011, Human Head requested funding to do advertising and finish up what little had to be done by early 2012, when this happened Zenimax acted like children and basically told Human Head they were cutting off funding to the games development, Human Head responded by boycotting Zenimax and after a while Pete hines, basically said "You know how we can end all this controversy? cancel it and start from scratch, people will get over it." and we got the famous bullshit excuse, well then Bethesda went to Arkane and told them they wanted arkane to take up the IP and do something new, funny enough Arkane originally wanted nothing to do with the whole situation because of how much of PR nightmare it had became because of Zenimax trying to do an aggressive take over of the IP, there's actually emails that leaked years ago before the Prey reboot was announced.
What we got was better though
Sure if you wanted another souless System shock clone, I guess? but in the end it was not "Prey" and sure you could argue "Okay but what does prey 2 even have to do with the original?" which sure, outside of have Tommy appear at times throughout the game, you'd be right in saying that it's not really a Prey sequel, but I'd argue it's ideas and the technology that would have powered it would have been way more groundbreaking then another system shock clone.
I actually wanted System Shock 3
i'm still furious.
MegaMan legends 3. Frick Capcom
This. I miss the Bonnes.
They're just waiting 6 years for the realism, right?
had hight hope for hellsign and miniLaw
learned not to hope
Prey 2
IP is dead too since the title was basically appropriated by the most recent game which just used the name since the devs owned it and is completely unrelated
We can pray that someday it gets leaked, but seeing as Bethesda - Zenimax are owned by Microsoft, that is likely to never happen unfortunately, but who knows, I hold out a small bit of hope seeing as Rare is owned by Microsoft and we finally got to see Dinosaur Planet leak after so many years, what's sad is someone has access to it, see pic related, top left indicates this was the pc version.
Here's the leaked box art
You weren't an actual fan if you weren't prepared to accept every chapter released as the possible last. With fricking years between issues if it was the only thing keeping you going you should've off'd yourself awhile ago.
FREELANCER 2.
I've been looking forward to a sequel to xenoblade chronicles X for years but deep down I know it will never happen but I hope
Dragon Dogma 2
City of Metronome is one game that I think would be pretty cool.
Shame it never came out. The same studio later on made Little Nightmares.
Dragons Dogma 2
mega man legends 3
The only thing is worse is waiting years only to be disappointed by the absolute disgrace the final product ends up being.
Outside of the bugs in the AI and the slight change in art direction, please tell me why it is people hate the final product so bad, I've seen plenty of comparison videos and fixes to the AI, I really don't see it being that huge of a problem.
The campaign was awful. You spend far too much time fighting human enemies in an ALIENS game. The "big twist" was fricking laughable. Multiplayer was unbalanced as frick. The game was horribly buggy and looked like absolute shit. I had my save progress wiped 3 fricking times. There was so much texture pop-in, the scenery straight up looked like melted plastic half the time. Not even the fricking vents where the aliens came out of had any textures. It was literally just a black fricking square. People probably wouldn't have been so hard on the game if Randy Pitchfraud didn't market it as the "canonical sequel to Aliens that we always wanted but never got."
Overall, the game was a fricking insult. 6 years of development and this what we ended up getting? Plus all the bullshit where they embezzled the funds for the game and invested it in borderlands 2 instead and their 2011 E3 demo being a pre-rendered fabrication despite there being a 100% in-game footage seal stamped on it. Man, this game was that one game that I truly wanted to be good more than anything and they botched it so hard that they got fricking sued for false advertisement. You had to be there to really understand how much Gearbox and Pitchfraud pulled the rug out from underneath everyone.
This. Colonial Marines is infamous for a reason and did irreparable harm to the franchise. Isolation partially salvaged things, but the scars remain. It's also probably why not many game developers want to touch the IP anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if Colonial Marines hindered the sales for Isolation either as it came out only 1 year after Colonial Marines. We were lucky to get Fireteam Elite, but who knows when we'll ever get another Alien game. And it's all Randy "underage porn" Pitchford's fault.
Bayo 3
Griffith won.
Megaman Legends 3
Deep Down. Starcraft Ghost. Warcraft 4. HL3.
