Nah, they aren't the real thing. Repro is just "bootleg" with a nicer name.
Based Captain Obvious
I wouldn't own a piece of shit like that even for free, let alone paying money for it.
everything chinese made always has weird bugs, like they are deliberately shitty on purpose
I bought a chink version of Pokémon crystal on eBay for $8 a few years ago, turns out even with a fresh battery the game doesn’t hold your save making it absolutely useless. A week later the eBay seller disappeared completely
Just flashcarts
I have a repro of Tales of Phantasia for SNES.
Just this and a chink multicart.
Oh and VERY bootleggy snowbrothers.
I would rather kill myself.
Mid 2000s I remember buying a used copy of some GBA Castlevania game from Gamestop. The label was more matte than glossy. I thought the previous owner left the cart in direct sunlight. Once at home I booted the game up and looked like all save data was wiped. The cartridge did not save at all.
only buy reproduction carts of translated games, have seiken densetsu 3, final fantasy 5, and live a live, buying reproductions of carts because the originals are expensive is lame
I completely agree, it's the only way it's actually worth it. I did however try to get my girlfriend to get a repro of Havest Moon for SNES as it's the only one she doesn't have.
Interesting. How long ago did you buy those? I ran a small site years ago making English-translated repros of games that were never protest here. All the titles you listed were ones I made for people quite frequently.
Frick no.
I've bought used Secret of Mana cart once and thought it was licensed until I noticed the print quality of label artwork is really shitty. So it's most likely a repro/bootleg, thankfully i didn't pay a lot of money for it and guy who sold it to me never stated it's a license.
I have a repro of Recca: Summer Carnival '92.
Friend bought me a repro of Demon's Crest that's affected by the copyright protection that makes the first boss invincible.
I bought a couple, but they were really cheap and the seller was upfront. I don't think it's such a big deal if the price is reasonable and the seller is honest.
I've been buying a bunch of GBA bootlegs recently since they're reflashable. IDK if that counts.
