Frick no. Played a game last night with a buddy and 2 randoms. One of the randoms immediately started killing us as soon as we landed, reinforced us, and killed us again for absolutely no reason. Can you imagine if I wasn't able to kick him from the game?

It hits hard as frick but the velocity seems so low. Its such a pain in the ass to hit moving targets. Also the rate of fire is unbearable. If you are getting rushed by multiple enemies you're fricked. Hoping the crossbow will be ok

Because some missions don't require movement and stamina if you play it right. Eradication, defense, the ones where you reach an objective then sit on it while under attack. Sure it sucks to be slow but when you survive a direct hit by a rocket and are still durable enough to get up and run away under enemy fire afterwards, you'll realize why heavy armor is a thing.

This. I bounce between throwing distance so I can run nothing but orbital bombardments and eagle strikes on low levels and general explosive resistance because being able to tank a rocket to the head is a life saver on high level bot runs.

Trivial, I've had the most luck on bug missions with the "kill Brood Mother" objective. Mainly because the objective is always in the middle so you just run a lap of the outskirts to find caches

Make EATs take 3 shots to destroy Spores/Shrieker nests (change nothing about enemy values), and reduce Quasar range to be more of a CQB anti-heavy weapon where the ball dissolves after a short travel period seems like the right call.

if there are 3 bile titans and you have EATs, then you are fricked for 1 minute
if there are 3 bile titan and you have RR, you can kill all the titans in 30 seconds if you are skilled
this isn't even taking into account if there are also chargers around their feet, and these aren't unrealistic scenarios, this is a regular occurrence on difficulty 7+
They've buffed it's ammo replenishment twice now, which is good enough to make it not significantly worse than either of the other two. It's a perfectly good sidegrade if you're not taking a backpack. The only thing that needs to be fixed is the way that if you cancel the reload after inserting the shell but before locking the breech, you lose another round when you restart the reload. Also, your ideas are ridiculously terrible.
They need a stealth buff where you can unlock the launcher and dive to eject the prior shell w/o spending an extra round.

As someone who has over 200 hours fricking extensively with every Launcher, these are absolutely great ideas. Anti-Heavy weapons should have a niche in use and (actual) tradeoffs. Consider that EAT nerf extremely forgiving.
moronic ideas, the Quasar being the worst. The Quasar already struggles in short range because of its charge up time. EAT is perfect where it's at, having to call down limited ammo every minute is a great trade off for up to two dead heavies every minute and no need to reload.
If you want to buff the RR give it a faster reload. Nobody uses team reloading and it's obvious the RR was balanced around this terribly inefficient mechanic that's only viable in lower difficulties. Maybe give it a slightly bigger AoE and an additional rocket so it can do some wave clear if you have an abundance of ammo.
RR team reload is great if they're adding more shit like the walking factories you need to dump an entire backpack into to kill. They could have RR and spear 1.5 and 2x effective blast radius respectively if they really wanted.

Just aim low towards the ground and sweep it back and forth. Setting the ground on fire in a big area kills much better than aiming right at the enemies themselves. Use it for killing and area denial simultaneously for maximum effect.
Fire is very good against bugs and only morons say otherwise. Just make sure you're putting a bunch of fire on the ground so the bugs kill themselves scuttling around. Flaming a bug hole as they flood out is pure sex

flame thrower is fine, it's great for swarms and can take out chargers really quickly (aim for the legs, the head armour seems to deflect the fire for some reason)
just be aware that it does sweet frick-all against bile titans and is almost useless against bots
I'd say Dominator, it's more generally useful whereas the eruptor feels too specialised
the eruptor is basically replacing your primary with a support weapon that is a lite autocannon, it's cool, but it kinda forces you to change up your entire build around it, like taking the stalwart as a support and using it as your new primary, or else you are mainly going to be using your sidearm throughout the mission)

No it really isnt. People were capped on upgrades, strats, and samples by the end of the first month and had run out of things to grind.

there's now a proper defense mission where you have a fortified position and need to hold it for a time as enemy attacks increase, it's much better than civilian shit
eradicate missions just drop you into an open area and hurl waves at you chaotically
this new defense missions gives you a walled in position that has designated chokepoints and access areas, with gates you can open or close and enemies don't come from every side, just from the choke points
It really just feels more and more like the game was released unfinished and they threw this mission in just for something while the new defense is how it should have been from the get go.
personally I'm worried they're just burning through content to keep player numbers up. They clearly didn't expect this level of success but now they have a ton more pressure to pump out shit like AAA live service games. The new mission still has fricking collision boxes visible.

from my testing no such mechanic exists. Medium pen shots bounce off thermite on heavy armor, light pen shots bounce off medium.
Also thermite doesn't stick to bot walkers main armor (lmao) or brood mother heads.

Laser Cannon assfricks hulks and tanks, Eruptor helps when it's off cooldown to obliterate one berserker per shot, stuns lock everything down, grenade pistol is just utility explosives. Laser Cannon fricks hulk eyes in like 1 second of sustain.
Yeah it's great. Eruptor wrecking one Berserker per shot and being able to function as a "hurt everything" weapon to back it up when it needs to cool down feels perfect to me.

If you host yourself, they won't be able to kick you. Certain enemies and missions are better with specific kits, but you have several options that are mostly about personal preference.
On max difficulty, you're guaranteed to need every type of tool at some point, but it's your choice which you pick. There are strategems and weapons I don't like, but I've never felt the need to use something I dislike otherwise it's impossible to win the mission.
both primary and support weapons are basically only to take out small enemies and hold out till the big guns show up.

If you ever needed to stun BT's to hit them with OPS, you're a fricking hack. They have 2 goddamn baked in attack animations, and both last longer than the unmodified Orbital call-in timer.

I'm using a single stun grenade to cut my Railcannon timer by 2/3's. Considering Grenades are constantly being refilled, that's barely even using a resource, especially if I'm running Grenade Launcher + Supply Pack.

lol no, I remove structures before I'm even in the bots' effective range. My teammates just waltz in and by the time they get there, the fabs and turrets have already been deleted.
Strafing run is good at its job at least, if you really want it in your kit you can work with it. It clears hordes very well and is easy to aim. It can be alright cover for waiting for a quasar reload.

It's not good. It's just what you get at the beginning of the game because no one told you to get the other two eagles instead. The only way to make the air strafe good is to go HD1 and just let you call down like 15 of them in .1 second over and over. The clusterbomb and air strike just outclass it at everything at the moment. It's objectively not a good stratagem to bring in.
HMG emplacement is objectively garbage on anything more than diff 3 since it can't affect any heavy, and also the just the regular HMG. Also eagle smokes. There's tons of trash stratagems. The irony of people complaining about metahomosexualry is that they never actually use the shitty stuff themselves to know how bad some of the shit is. They basically stick to the meta while making fun of "metahomosexualry"

The whole "I was kicked because I didn't equip shield/railgun" phase the community went through was way overblown
Everything bright green is medium armour and weak to explosive damage like the charger ass but you have to do some level of heavy armour penetration to actually kill it. You can cause it to bleed out by shooting the side with an RR and laying into the wound with other weapons, but all you should really do is pop it in the head twice with an EAT/RR/Quasar. Blowing out the sacks on the bottom stops it from spewing.
I feel so embarrassed when something happens like I am trying to throw an eagle and I get blasted, drop the ball and it kills my squadmates, I just quit a game because of it

Not that anon, but I can't recall a single mission where I've had more rare samples than common regardless of difficulty level. Could just be you're unlucky or missing common pickup spots.

the buff it got a while back was only to make it medium pen right? the adjudicator having medium pen is nice but having not tried the medium pen buff for counter sniper I feel like it can't be a big enough buff to be worth it, although i'm aware medium pen can mean different things because devs are moronic
from the little I've done I would say I still prefer the diligence but they're not quite going for the same thing so it's not the same level of pretty much entirely inferior as the counter sniper is

I picked up the game yesterday, won't be able to play consistently with friends until they are done school this semester (~2 weeks), how is the solo queuing scene, especially as a new player? Will I get flamed for having no unlocks or should I just grind those out solo until I get some better Stratagems/weapons?
Just host and throw out some SOS beacons, people will join in and they're gonna be cool most likely. Just work your way up the difficulties hosting yourself.
Solo randoms are usually fine. I'd recommend staying away from difficulty 5+ until you're really comfortable with the lower difficulties and have some good stuff unlocked.
Just expect that sometimes you may get kicked immediately when you join SOS beacons.
It's easy to accidently throw down an SOS when you are trying to revive and that sometimes happens in private lobbies that didn't want a random person to join. But once the SOS beacon is down you can't stop it.

When I started, I did the first 3 difficulties solo. Gives you a chance to get a feel for missions and mobs. Very doable.
I would never play L4D alone back in the day, I think I would have a miserable time then with that game and I believe I would have a miserable time now with this game.

Are lighter explosive weapons like Grenade Launcher or Autocannon good against big enemies like chargers or bile titans? It's hard to tell, sometimes I do decent damage and sometimes it seems like I'm tickling them and my shots ricochet
Shoot Chargers in the rear after they pass you 4-5 times and they'll begin to bleed out. You can break the spewer sacs on the belly of a Bile Titan with the Auto Cannon, but you won't do much else against it.

Remember that they spent a month thinking that railgun is unbalanced not the entire rest of the game is unbalanced. They just wanted to get rid of it before they realized they had to change literally everything else.
I only like to take the railgun against bots, it is a very decent weapon against any of the heavier bots with one charged shot to the eye but it needs some steady aim and charge up time.
Taking the sniper is the much less try hard option though, much better aim since you can actually set a zoom, no charge up crap, can't one shot hulks though which always feels nice.

Because some missions don't require movement and stamina if you play it right. Eradication, defense, the ones where you reach an objective then sit on it while under attack. Sure it sucks to be slow but when you survive a direct hit by a rocket and are still durable enough to get up and run away under enemy fire afterwards, you'll realize why heavy armor is a thing.

I actually usually do survive direct rocket hits because I always bring the HP booster. What kills me is usually how I get ragdolled away at the speed of sound and pancake into a wall.

This. I bounce between throwing distance so I can run nothing but orbital bombardments and eagle strikes on low levels and general explosive resistance because being able to tank a rocket to the head is a life saver on high level bot runs.

honestly the mission doesn't matter, more so the map. Anything crescent with extraction near the edge seems to be best, means your more likely to get all your stuff within a short distance. Open maps, Fori Prime is the best at the moment, clear sight lines

Trivial, I've had the most luck on bug missions with the "kill Brood Mother" objective. Mainly because the objective is always in the middle so you just run a lap of the outskirts to find caches

Make EATs take 3 shots to destroy Spores/Shrieker nests (change nothing about enemy values), and reduce Quasar range to be more of a CQB anti-heavy weapon where the ball dissolves after a short travel period seems like the right call.

With the spear having finnicky lock on an your shots not being guaruanteed to hit where you want them to, the RR is literally better than the Spear which was the whole point of my post.

if there are 3 bile titan and you have RR, you can kill all the titans in 30 seconds if you are skilled
this isn't even taking into account if there are also chargers around their feet, and these aren't unrealistic scenarios, this is a regular occurrence on difficulty 7+
If there are 3 BT's, you aren't reloading unless you are outside of the fray. Your made up scenario does not reflect reality.

They've buffed it's ammo replenishment twice now, which is good enough to make it not significantly worse than either of the other two. It's a perfectly good sidegrade if you're not taking a backpack. The only thing that needs to be fixed is the way that if you cancel the reload after inserting the shell but before locking the breech, you lose another round when you restart the reload. Also, your ideas are ridiculously terrible.

As someone who has over 200 hours fricking extensively with every Launcher, these are absolutely great ideas. Anti-Heavy weapons should have a niche in use and (actual) tradeoffs. Consider that EAT nerf extremely forgiving.
moronic ideas, the Quasar being the worst. The Quasar already struggles in short range because of its charge up time. EAT is perfect where it's at, having to call down limited ammo every minute is a great trade off for up to two dead heavies every minute and no need to reload.
If you want to buff the RR give it a faster reload. Nobody uses team reloading and it's obvious the RR was balanced around this terribly inefficient mechanic that's only viable in lower difficulties. Maybe give it a slightly bigger AoE and an additional rocket so it can do some wave clear if you have an abundance of ammo.
RR team reload is great if they're adding more shit like the walking factories you need to dump an entire backpack into to kill. They could have RR and spear 1.5 and 2x effective blast radius respectively if they really wanted.

Just aim low towards the ground and sweep it back and forth. Setting the ground on fire in a big area kills much better than aiming right at the enemies themselves. Use it for killing and area denial simultaneously for maximum effect.
Fire is very good against bugs and only morons say otherwise. Just make sure you're putting a bunch of fire on the ground so the bugs kill themselves scuttling around. Flaming a bug hole as they flood out is pure sex
Host your own games and if someone bullies you then just set them on fire. Then kick them if they try any other stupid shit in retaliation. It's really that easy.
flame thrower is fine, it's great for swarms and can take out chargers really quickly (aim for the legs, the head armour seems to deflect the fire for some reason)
just be aware that it does sweet frick-all against bile titans and is almost useless against bots

the eruptor is basically replacing your primary with a support weapon that is a lite autocannon, it's cool, but it kinda forces you to change up your entire build around it, like taking the stalwart as a support and using it as your new primary, or else you are mainly going to be using your sidearm throughout the mission)

By the time the game has 5-6 ship upgrades per type, you will need to have actual hundreds of hours to get them. This does not seem feasible for 90% of players.
It was fine when most upgrades were garbage/slightly more than cosmetic.
But now, it's kind of "mandatory" which sucks a lot.
Its only "mandatory" if you adopt the shitter mentality of needing every single edge possible before you can succeed.
Just remember, tons of players completed helldives all the time without these upgrades before they were added this morning.

Yes but it blows up on impact, so it's fricky against fabricators. However, the best application of it is that you can use it to make patrol go away by shooting a grenade far away from them, so they go investigate the explosion

there's now a proper defense mission where you have a fortified position and need to hold it for a time as enemy attacks increase, it's much better than civilian shit

this new defense missions gives you a walled in position that has designated chokepoints and access areas, with gates you can open or close and enemies don't come from every side, just from the choke points
It really just feels more and more like the game was released unfinished and they threw this mission in just for something while the new defense is how it should have been from the get go.

from my testing no such mechanic exists. Medium pen shots bounce off thermite on heavy armor, light pen shots bounce off medium.

If you host yourself, they won't be able to kick you. Certain enemies and missions are better with specific kits, but you have several options that are mostly about personal preference.
On max difficulty, you're guaranteed to need every type of tool at some point, but it's your choice which you pick. There are strategems and weapons I don't like, but I've never felt the need to use something I dislike otherwise it's impossible to win the mission.

So you're using one extra resource to achieve the same job that one stratagem can handle. Don't get me wrong, I use the OPS too but I like saving it for structures and heavies while using the ORC for enemies that move.
I'm using a single stun grenade to cut my Railcannon timer by 2/3's. Considering Grenades are constantly being refilled, that's barely even using a resource, especially if I'm running Grenade Launcher + Supply Pack.

It's not good. It's just what you get at the beginning of the game because no one told you to get the other two eagles instead. The only way to make the air strafe good is to go HD1 and just let you call down like 15 of them in .1 second over and over. The clusterbomb and air strike just outclass it at everything at the moment. It's objectively not a good stratagem to bring in.

it fricks up devastators, striders, all the medium-large enemies. it can't kill chargers or annihilator tanks but it can pierce the hulk eye very easily and very quickly
also unlike the sentries you can actually pilot it and stop it from mindlessly wasting half the ammo on invulnerable targets
the main problem with the HMG emplacement is that for most players they deploy it too late and don't know the proper position for it
The emplacement on bots needs the shield in order to not just get rocketed like every other turret.
if there's so many bots that you're getting rocketed despite all the bullets you're sending their way, every sentry would be pretty shit in that situation
i run the HMG at difficulty 6 pretty often i don't see what's so bad about it other than lacking exlposive damage

Everything bright green is medium armour and weak to explosive damage like the charger ass but you have to do some level of heavy armour penetration to actually kill it. You can cause it to bleed out by shooting the side with an RR and laying into the wound with other weapons, but all you should really do is pop it in the head twice with an EAT/RR/Quasar. Blowing out the sacks on the bottom stops it from spewing.

You're going to get killed by your teammates more than enemies in the early levels.
Just host and throw out some SOS beacons, people will join in and they're gonna be cool most likely. Just work your way up the difficulties hosting yourself.
Solo queue is fine, but you should stay away from the higher difficulties until you have the essentials unlocked (around lvl 15).
Solo randoms are usually fine. I'd recommend staying away from difficulty 5+ until you're really comfortable with the lower difficulties and have some good stuff unlocked.

Just expect that sometimes you may get kicked immediately when you join SOS beacons.
It's easy to accidently throw down an SOS when you are trying to revive and that sometimes happens in private lobbies that didn't want a random person to join. But once the SOS beacon is down you can't stop it.

I had a level 15 in my difficulty 7 the other day ballin out with his grenade launcher. He died a lot and was generally useless but he’ll learn.
When I started, I did the first 3 difficulties solo. Gives you a chance to get a feel for missions and mobs. Very doable.

Are lighter explosive weapons like Grenade Launcher or Autocannon good against big enemies like chargers or bile titans? It's hard to tell, sometimes I do decent damage and sometimes it seems like I'm tickling them and my shots ricochet
Autocannon assfricks chargers (literally - don't aim at the head, it'll bounce), not sure about titans tho
Shoot Chargers in the rear after they pass you 4-5 times and they'll begin to bleed out. You can break the spewer sacs on the belly of a Bile Titan with the Auto Cannon, but you won't do much else against it.

I only like to take the railgun against bots, it is a very decent weapon against any of the heavier bots with one charged shot to the eye but it needs some steady aim and charge up time.
Taking the sniper is the much less try hard option though, much better aim since you can actually set a zoom, no charge up crap, can't one shot hulks though which always feels nice.
