Why did MY favourite custom games (Island Defense, LOAP, Kodo Tag) not take off as stand-alone genres whereas things like Dota and TD did? I can't even play the originals anymore due to the passing of time and Blizzard's BS.

WC3 is not exactly a pretty game, even in early 00 it looked a ugly, but cartoonish graphics and dark atmosphere worked quite well.
