I enjoyed WOA more than Blood Money, but it would have been nice to have stuff like shoving for more lulzy AI manipulation. Also weird they'd remove dual wielding.
Regardless, the freelancer mode makes up for it all and more. Spent a good 100 hours fricking around in that mode.
Yeah in terms of gameplay its the best stealth game ever made. Anyone who's actually explored it knows this, nothing even comes close. I've been playing Hitman since SA.
Mechanically you are just evading cones of vision in any stealth game by timing your movements, and maybe manipulating AI. Hitman WoA has the most robust system for this and the best overall level design and interactivity. MGSV technically has better mechanics but the level design is shit and the game is unfinished.
I don't think it's bad, but it's more boring than anything. The open levels suck, the music is completely bland and forgettable except for one, and the art is extremely sterile. I don't like the control scheme either, despite how much better the game feels to play, because every single action has its one dedicated key instead of how it was handled in the earlier games in a much quicker and simpler method. Also the AI is shit.
I'm not going to listen to anyone call the AI in this game better while saying BM's is braindead when suspicious actions in BM, regardless of outfit, will elicit a response from the guards if warranted, while in 2016 onwards you're freely able to tamper with things in ludicrous manners as long as 47 is wearing the right outfit which is fricking moronic. In BM, 47 can't just steal tape recordings just because he's wearing a guard outfit because that makes sense, but in WoA he can openly poison people's drinks if he's wearing a chefs outfit and no one bats an eyelash. It's stupid.
They balance that out by having enforcers that can see through disguises, and also having certain disguises be harder to get.
Also, you’re forgetting that in BM, guards can’t see through disguises at all unless you perform an illegal action, and you can also trespass with no penalty as long as you’re not seen performing an illegal action.
>They balance that out by having enforcers that can see through disguises
This only happens if 47 is standing right next to them and doesn't move, otherwise it's completely negligible because the awareness meter fills to slowly otherwise. He can walk or run past them and nothing happens.
>you can trespass with no penalty as long as he doesn't get spotted
Woah, no way.
>>you can trespass with no penalty as long as he doesn't get spotted
No, you can be spotted trespassing without penalty due to a major oversight in the scoring system where being detected in your suit doesn’t count as a “cover blown”. It only counts against you if someone spots you shooting a gun or something to that effect
Watch any speedrun of Blood Money and you’ll see this in action.
>He can walk or run past them and nothing happens.
In my experience, you're usually in tighter spaces. It's true that enforcers won't notice you quickly from a distance, but having played the game for 150 hours, you're not at a distance the vast majority of the time. I also feel you're downplaying how quickly you get spotted by enforcers. They can do it near instantly when you're "right next to them" and decently quickly from close but not too close distances.

IO’s placement of enforcers was clearly very well thought out.
Most enforcers are placed along the most optimal/fast route for that disguise. An example of that is in Paris, where the guards on both stairwells to the auction floor are enforcers to the CICADA bodyguard disguise. Probably because IO knew that that was the fasted route to the auction floor once you take npcs out of the equation.

>IO’s placement of enforcers was clearly very well thought out.
Yeah fricking right. I played the Paris Museum/Mansion level and there's a random enforcer sitting around in a common area for no fricking reason. to reiterate, this enforcer will somehow compromise 47 even if he's not trespassing and it wearing the default suit of the level, as a guest to the event.
>but in WoA he can openly poison people's drinks if he's wearing a chefs outfit and no one bats an eyelash. It's stupid.
not to cherrypick, but in the christams mission in blood money, you can put aphrodisiac in the drink of one of the targets with dozens of people looking at you, including the bartender in your face
I can't remember this specific event but whenever I personally tried poisoning food or drinks in Blood Money, 47's cover gets immediately blown if someone see's him doing it.
you can trust me, anon, I played over 80 hours of BM in the past 2 months
i really don't know why it is like that, maybe the aphrodisiac isn't seen as "hostile" by the AI, it's still dumb cuz to bystanders both should look like mysterious things you're adding to a drink, specially the bartender who stares at your soul when you do it
I found the AI was pretty decent in combat given they usually send spare guards to hit your flanks (if possible). They perhaps act a bit derpy when it comes to repeatedly killing or knocking people out around them, but nothing that was exempt from other games.
Honestly, the AI in WoA is really dangerous because of how frequently they flank, and the fact that their guns do insane damage (a shotgun wielding guard will 2 shot you). Really, the only way you can cheese them in combat is camping behind cover at a dead end and then shooting them as they approach you. And that requires you having enough ammo to kill the 100+ guards that will come your way as a result of that.
NTA, but unless they changed it in a recent update, on normal dif at least, if you wear a chef or a waiter outfit you can poison in front of people and not get detected.

Yes you can, moron. Read the rest of the post >as long as you're wearing the right outfit
Do you seriously need me to make a fricking webm of 47 brazenly throwing rat poison into someone's drink while he's being watched and he doesn't get caught?

I don't think its better than Blood Money as a Hitman game but WoA is really good especially with the Freelancer mode. Freelancer is something ive wanted in a hitman game for decades
I disagree and would say that the sandbox levels are complete shit and the trilogy's best levels are the more compact one like Paris and Thailand. Ones like Italy are extremely overrated and half the level isn't ever worth interacting with.
Every map except for the train in the Carpathian Mountains is a sandbox map though. The only difference between each of them is the size and level of verticality.
Sandbox as in overtly wide and open. No one sane would call something like Las Vegas a sandbox level, every hitman game has 'free' levels. The wide cityscape ones are trash.
They’re about giving the player freedom to do whatever the frick they want without restriction. Basically, if there’s no scripted linear setpieces, and there’s a focus on approaching things however you choose, then it’s a sandbox. This is why something like The Witcher 3 isn’t a sandbox despite having a massive open world.

>A sandbox game is a video game with a gameplay element that provides players a great degree of creativity to interact with, usually without any predetermined goal, or alternatively with a goal that the players set for themselves. Such games may lack any objective, and are sometimes referred to as non-games or software toys. More often, sandbox games result from these creative elements being incorporated into other genres and allowing for emergent gameplay. Sandbox games are often associated with an open world concept which gives the players freedom of movement and progression in the game's world. The term "sandbox" derives from the nature of a sandbox that lets people create nearly anything they want within it.

I have no idea, at first I was under the assumption that he was going into another assassination but he liked to talk about being "busy" between his missions and someone else mentioned it online so I could kind of see it. I figured it was something else, though.
BM is the third worst after C:47 and Absolution since it introduced so many fricking b***h emchanics >bro you're in disguise I can tell so you can't be here, can you be a good agent and just let me escort you back to the starting point so you can try again? Good agent, now you try sneaking in again!
And of course: bro just lure the guard with shit AI, just do it, it's how you're supposed to play it, you have got infinite coins
WOA isn't great, it's aberage at best like SA and Contracts but it at least fricking tried not ot make it b***h mode like in BM. People who say BM was their favorite really tell on themselves that needed built in b***h made easy mode to play
>>bro you're in disguise I can tell so you can't be here, can you be a good agent and just let me escort you back to the starting point so you can try again? Good agent, now you try sneaking in again!
what are you talking about >bro just lure the guard with shit AI, just do it, it's how you're supposed to play it, you have got infinite coins
the coins are borderline useless on pro, i dont know about the lower difficulties cuz I played blood money after finishing C47 and SA, so I'm too good for that shit and will never bother with it
It's the worst piece of shit in all of video games and worthless zoomer homosexuals need to be skinned in the streets for making THIS BULLSHIT worthy of success.
FRICK EVERY moron THAT PAID FOR THIS
YOU ARE moronic FRICKING FILTH AND YOU HAVE RUINED VIDEO GAMES
no not really but stockholm syndromegays will say it is
it's good but not that good

Depends how you define stealth. For me personally stealth means hiding in shadows ala thief / sc series.

Frick yes.

It’s the best AI in the series. I think you’re forgetting how paranoid and omniscient 2SA’s AI was, or how braindead BM’s AI was at points.
Poisoning food and drinks is mostly useless in BM because poison kills count as bodies found. Luckily WoA buffed poison so it’s actually useful.
Okay, but that doesn't change what I said.
you can trust me, anon, I played over 80 hours of BM in the past 2 months

cute little shit opinion chart.
did your favorite youtuber make it for you?
you wont find an eceleb calling the WoA "mediocre"
47 feels like absolute fricking shit to play and for good reason.
Where's Absolution?
Not a hitman game. It's also dogshit but that isn't relevant.
Where is Hitman Go?
hitman go was actually pretty fun
well either you played on easy or diddnt play because you cannot poison food in front of people without getting caught
opps replied wrong

moron
Keep hitting that nostalgia bong. BM was good for it's time. But woa did everything it did, better.

definitely not soundtrack nor athmosphere
I played BM for the first time last year. Stop coping.
>i don't think it's bad

Mediocre does not mean bad, ESL.
man contracts was so fricking nice especially easter eggs such as the ghost in the hotel
IoI needs to be executed for pulling all this ridiculous DLC shit you need to read a guide for as well as not transfering shit properly
If you torrent it with the Peawiener client it absolutely is.
This. Needs to be heavily modded too but after that is a 10/10 game
Yes.
Blood Money was a good game but troons have put it on a pedestal and it doesn't live up to the hype.
I'm just not a fan of those one-shot Elusive Targets, and if it wasn't online-always I'd probably like it more. Still decent though.
I don't think its better than Blood Money as a Hitman game but WoA is really good especially with the Freelancer mode. Freelancer is something ive wanted in a hitman game for decades
woa has fun gameplay but its just too silly and 3 should have launched with freelancer
not in terms of atmosphere or level design
>level design
That’s literally WoA’s strongest suit though. It arguably has the best level design in the series.
The “bad” levels in WoA are of the same quality as “okay” levels from the older games.
I disagree and would say that the sandbox levels are complete shit and the trilogy's best levels are the more compact one like Paris and Thailand. Ones like Italy are extremely overrated and half the level isn't ever worth interacting with.

If Hitman is a sandbox, so is Witcher.
Or music, story (which isn't really the main draw to the games either), and mission design.
which is the best Hitman mission and why is it the beldingford manor?
Yes
What difficulty for first playthrough? Should I just follow the "story" way to beat the levels, and explore weird ways later?
Honestly thinking about it poor Blood Money has been made obsolete.
I love the game but it isnt the best of the franchise in ANY aspect.

I’ll make some corrections to this list:
>Best OST
2SA

Contracts because of the psychological horror framing device, with BM as a close second.
SA's ost for the most part is just your bread n butter "epic sounding orchestra"
i think it's great but contract's and bm's just feels more iconic and fitting
You're basically correct. I play WoA for the gameplay and Contracts for the atmosphere. H2SA was never that good besides a couple of levels. BM was great for its time but feels redundant now.
To BM’s credit, it was the template for WoA, and it also has some timeless missions like Curtains Down and A New Life. It’s also the only game in the series to have an upgrade system.
blood money is just that perfect middle ground between WoA and Contracts
SA has the best music and atmosphere, but it also has the worst AI in the series.
>best soundtrack
>anything but Blood Money
Lmao
>*ting ting ting!*
I have an announcement to make
yes? I'm listening even though nobody else is
frick Providence! frick the Constant!

The mechanics are basic. The game doesn't use sound as a stealth mechanic at all. why can't i fire my non silenced 12 guage during a loud race for example? and why do people get distracted by my coin in a large loud crowd? I hate that.
Because the gameplay is built around the AI having consistent behaviours that can be replicated by the player and used to their advantage.
It’s more of an AI manipulation focused stealth game.
>why can't i fire my non silenced 12 guage during a loud race for example?
A loud race wouldn't drown out the sound of a fricking shotgun. Have you ever thought about that?
Except it would because they can easily go as high at 100 or even 120 or 40 decibels. While shotguns may be louder, they don't be so loud to make the sound easily discernable through the noise of the event.
the final mission on the train ruined the entire trilogy.
There's no sound masking to cover an assassination and there's no hostage taking. So it isn't better by a long shot.
There's zero difficulty progression in the game. Level 1 plays the same as level 20. At least in Blood Money the white house mission was harder than the rest.

This genuinely pisses me off so much.

NPC's not speaking their native tongue is dumb.
Come, girls, make BOOM BOOM with Charlie!
Contracts>BM>WoA>SA>A>CN47
frick was blood money good.
they should make a map pack DLC of it
>they should make a map pack DLC of it
they'll probably just ruin it. besides, 'Another Life' is basically a remake of 'a new life'
No but it's still good.
Is 47 actually gay?
volcel
i don't think he has an appetite for sex
also ortmeyer probably made sure all clones are infertile
Was he not going to get laid at the end of Blood Money?
47 has no sexual feelings, he's a genetically engineered killing machine
oh he was searching for asia's finest delicacies?
i thought he was just getting into sniper spot
I have no idea, at first I was under the assumption that he was going into another assassination but he liked to talk about being "busy" between his missions and someone else mentioned it online so I could kind of see it. I figured it was something else, though.
of course not. consolefied and simplified
how is the contracts pc port?
Yea, save for the modern bs like always online.
The level design and visuals are great and is a wet dream from the BM era.
Yes it was
It is literally modern BM with qol features from absolution
>absolution
>qol
>it's blood money but with a bunch of features removed
lmao

Who's speaking here? Is somebody speaking?
BM is the third worst after C:47 and Absolution since it introduced so many fricking b***h emchanics

Good agent, now you try sneaking in again!
what are you talking about
>bro just lure the guard with shit AI, just do it, it's how you're supposed to play it, you have got infinite coins
the coins are borderline useless on pro, i dont know about the lower difficulties cuz I played blood money after finishing C47 and SA, so I'm too good for that shit and will never bother with it
Terrible taste, holy fricking shit.
