They will just hire another one if his role in the studio was that important. It doesn't matter what happens inside ND, Sony wants more movies and ND will produce more movies.
If the rumor about Sony acquiring fromsoft is anything to go off of, other studios show that making a *GAME* (even a boss sim) will sell just as good if not better.
