Most of the time at the office is not spent working
it's proven that reducing the work week increases or keeps productivity and working from home is probably the same

Because the absolute vast majority of people do not actually work from home.
My WoW guild with nothing but 30y old boomers thrived during WFH. All those guys that were totally still working from home were playing the game more often than me a NEET.

Having to go back into office when you can do most if not all your work from home probably more efficient sounds pretty bad. Especially since it's just for the ego of some deadweight with a midlevel title

Your theory that companies are intentionally shooting themselves in the foot to make employees miserable and keep wasting millions on rent makes total sense.

Yeah a company could never be run by a bunch of self-important morons with bad ideas. Especially not video game companies.

Why even have an office? You can just have people at home and cut a huge cost of business. You'd think real stockholders would be up in arms about having "office space" as a business expense when it can be removed completely.

because if they move to full remote the CEO's real estate investor buddies who get their dick sucked by the same escort will lose money
plus the boss loses the ability to just walk around the office and feel important surrounded by the people he "manages"

        Anonymous

But how can that CEO justify the cost to the stockholders? How can stockholders allow such mismanagement?

right? a programmer quite literally will have to put their code in a repository regardless of where they are, meaning that can be done from anywhere. it's not a job that require anyone to do it from a specific place and the hours you won't need to spend on traffic can be used to test the code more.

I think by law the employer should cover all transport costs to reach the job. That would end return to office real fast
