how come unova got almost no megas? is it because none of them were popular when xy came out?

Because megas are all ugly dogshit which would go against the good Unova designs.
mega audino salvaged base audino's design so evidently not
If you want to frick it, sure
I do want to frick Audino, but she was fine even without mega.
both are wife
Real.
unova doesn’t really have any iconic pokemon. The whole dex is forgettable and ranges from bad-mediocre
unova already had insane power creep and all the shillmons failed so there was no need for mawile or garchomp situations
They didn't seem to want to give them to anything recent, almost no gen IV pokemon had them either and of course NO gen 6 mons got them. I think the pholosophy at the company has changed enough recently that we'll probably get more of them for new gen mons, 5 and onward in this case, than for old gen mons. I hope they'll even get into gen 9, i have got to see mega kingambit.
>6 and onward
ftfy
unova is the least supported gen in the series in general. Fewest reps in pokken, fewest reps in unite, the least merch, the least megas, etc
he was right the first time
that was just SwSh and I think they backtracked on that. They realized giving gimmick forms to new Pokemon would make them feel incomplete when they're cut
everone says this but i just don't get it, especially now that archaludon has set the precedent for gmax mons to get cross gen evos. most of the mons that could gmax looked fully evolved, even the 2 stage ones like alcremie and sandaconda. hatterene, grimmsnarl, orbeetle, coalossal; nothing about them screams 'incomplete' to me. drednaw is the one exception but i can imagine it probably evolving someday anyways.
Something happening (Once) in the 3rd dlc of an entire generation later is not a precedent, it's a mere coincidence.
>something happening (Once) [...] is not a precedent
that is literally exactly what a precedent is
This should have just been a regular evolution. Megas were a fricking mistake.
Unova was still relatively new at the time and Gamefreak generally prefer to give megas to old pokemon who's been around for a while, with Diancie being an exception for some reason. As for Audino, I guess it's because it's one of Unova's most beloved yet underpowered pokemon, so that presumably felt like the "obvious" choice to them?
Too recent
Gen 5 is the lowest selling and most forgettable initial release gen.
Capitalism matters
We want results
megas were made to shill KANTOOOOOOO and later hoenn
the fact that no kalos pokemon got megas until oras, and even then it was only a single mythical, should have tipped you off
they usually don't do much with whatever gen was most recent
Because Unpova is the least popular region.
There are no shillmons in Unova.
I thought it was because Unova had just come out and hadn't gotten hyper powercrept like Gen 1 and 2 Pokemon did. Gen 3 got a lot of megas just because it was the gen that got a remake but otherwise i think the mega distribution was relateively fairly split.
Essentially, Megas were designed to give weaker Pokemon a much needed boost. But in typical GF fashion, a lot of them when to Pokemon that didn't even need them and to noone's surprise, were completely broken. What really boggles the mind though is how the Gen 6 starters didn't get them. Something even the anime department couldn't comprehend.
see
A lot of Gen 8 Pokemon feel incomplete because they were designed with Gigantimax in mind
gen 5 just isnt a good gen thats why. the current official nintendo gamefreak ranking of pkmn gens last I checked was:
>Gen 1 > Gen 6 > Gen 9 > every other Gen > pile of garbage > Gen 5 and 8
Mega Audino(male) is so fricking hot oml
