linear Arkham Asylum is nothing like the open world Arkham City
Dude I've been playing through them the last couple of weeks after my only experience was playing Knight a few years back (which was awesome btw).
And Asylum is alright, but what if we took the same shit and turned it into a few run down city blocks to give the idea of freedom = City. Same fricking Joker bullshit.
What if we took the SAME FRICKING MAP but went back in time and totally fricked up the combat = Origins. Oh you thought Black Mask was the antagonist, LOL JKS FRICKING JOKER AGAIN.
Origins sucks ass and most people don’t consider it as canon to the series, not even the voice actors are the same.
Orgins doesnt count. Im sorry nobody sensible like me was able to inform you to skip that one.

Did you actually want joke characters like Bald Switch Owner, 2 Dollar Store skull mask man and the walking tutorial boss Scarecrow as the main villains?
Strange would have been excellent as a villain constantly fricking with you psychologically I feel(from the voice tapes) but he's barely in the game.
The assassins should have been the main villains of Origins. They should have had a more active role(like how Deathstroke goes to ambush you on the ship) instead of being so very passive the way they are.
And Scarecrow should have been a secondary villain and I feel Knight should have "revealed" Jason's identity from the start and focus more on that relationship because it's an utterly limp resolution to have these years of hate and resentment be resolved by having batman lightly shake him and rip off the insignia off his armor.
At the very least they should have had more content where Batman, Alfred and whomever else actually reacting to the reveal.
As much as I hate the guy I think Troy Baker pulls the angry year one batman voice really well.
I thought Troy did Joker? Thought it was Chris Redfield/Sonic that did Origins Batman.

Joker should have been a secret mission in Origins. Something like chasing after a robber or thief that ends with the perp falling into a chemical vat.
I still don't know why they bothered pretending it was Todd. Should have advertised it from the beginning tbh, play up the personal connection between him and Batman and make the plot about him and a couple of other villains moving in to fill in the Joker-shaped power vacuum.

But why? The game already introduced a time limit with the mystery of what Protocol 10 is. Why introduce a second time limit on top of it?
I like the bamham series a lot, in fact I'd say it's a positive thing that they are similar. Do not fix what isn't broken

These games are all pretty good but City is the best.
Knight is much better than people give it credit for but the story surrounding the Arkham Knight himself was awful. I understand they needed a military style villain to justify there being tanks and drones and shit all over the city..but JEEZ.
I have only played Asylum, and played 5 mins of City but now that my Steam Deck is here im looking to resume from City through Knight.
Any recommendations for mods or install tweaks needed? I think I read that most of these last three games in the series were released originally totally unoptimized - this is now like 10 years later, so they should play ok on my steam deck now - right?
