How do we stop Sonic genwunners from permanently erasing the legacy and influence of the Adventure series and ruining the francise forever? Even to this day, these frothing knuckle-scraping idiots are STILL demanding that everything except Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Eggman be scorched-earth removed from the series and thrown in the trash. The best Sonic story of all time, heavily inspired by the 3-4 Adventure series games, is currently struggling to survive at issue 50, while classic fans get a new set of plastic keys jangled in their face every few years with a low-effort remix/remaster of levels from the 10 YEARS of classic games and it sells millions of copies, even when it isn’t finished. When Frontiers comes out and inevitably sucks, all the millennial nerdbro youtubers (especially Dunkey) are going to use it as a platform to strangle the debate and demand that Sega return to the classic interpretation permanently. The Sonic series is so close to breaking back into something great for real but it will never happen if these fricknuts get what they want. In my opinion, this is the logical endpoint of allowing the ‘less is more’ mindset to run rampant, and if you don’t strain people who can’t accept complexity or development out of your fanbase, this shit will happen to it.

The adventure series was a mostly unnecessary pivot that intentionally left behind the charm of the classic games in pursuit of something more modern. It had a few ideas, but it's just not what 'Sonic' is or was meant to be.
Tell that to the huge legacy of fan projects, art and comics. It redefined the series for the better. cry about it all you want, just because you were first to the table doesn't mean everybody at the table has to do what you want.

Almost all good fan games are classic inspired, and there is plenty of classic art. Classic fan content > modern fan content.
The Adventure games, while good, were where the series went wrong. The atrocious redesigns, stupid stories and ridiculous kaiju monsters were absurd and removed the charm that the original games had.
They went on Gamecube and THAT was where the series became overrun with autists.
