How do you find people to play HOI4 with? Recently got the game, it's fun, I'd like to try playing with other people too.

You could just make a lobby now and I would join soonish. I'll be free in about 18 minutes.
Tanks?
No, hearts.
Yes.
discord
What if you don't have any friends in Discord to play with?
Then you play with anons from here.
Ew
Then you are forever alone I guess.
>friends
there are hoi4 channels dedicated to organizing mp matches
>Friend convinces me to buy play this game a couple of years ago
>Have no idea what the frick is going on
>Play Germany because because I'm a fricking weeb and my friend told me to not play Japan since japan is apparently hard to play and Germany is easy
>Apparently I Have to send a tank to Spain or something.
>Get absolutely raped when the actual war that matters starts.
Do you need to crank the difficulty to moron tier or play like 5 games before you have a single idea that's going oin?
You just need someone to hold your hand through your first game and explain shit like you are a moron.
Once someone has done that you will realize like most Paradox games it is easier than it looks.
Don't worry like every other Paradox game you need to drop $300 on the DLCs and then you can play the real game
Oh I forgot about that
>Can't properly learn out how to play the game by myself unless I spend 300 dollars getting all the dlc they have
or you can just simply pay for the subscription which is nothing
this is a bad idea for Hoi4
all the DLCs do is add more clicky minmax autist bullshit mechanics that make the game worse
Yeah honestly the only one you need is Together For Victory, makes puppets actually work lmao.
I was a moron though and just bought them off a humble bundle, although if you a pirate you can just get them even if you have the steam version
I'm pretty sure they added TfV into the basegame recently, along with two other DLC.
Cool
Recent version of the game had DLC included up to that I think. No step back is commonly used for mods as well.
Having bought them all (on sale) barring the glorified focus tree paid mods the most useless of all has to be la resistance. TNO replicated the whole experience without needing the DLC pretty much.
I haven't touched vanilla in years.
Lmao just pirate the dlcs
How do you do that?
just watch guides on moron-proof ways of playing the game, then go from there. you can still just build absurd amounts of artillery and let the game win for you. that's how i beat the soviet union my first time around
>nearly 2k hours
Have you ever felt the touch of a woman?
yeah, my sister
Is your sister hot?
A-anon? What do you mean?
no i'm waiting for anime to become real
>nearly 5k hours
What do you even do in EU4 with 5k hours? Memorize all game stats over and over?
Mostly what
says. Once you find your way around the UI and know how to perform basic operations, you're good to go. For HoI4 it means sorting out your research, production, unit training and national focuses. The farther you get, the more advanced techniques you will learn. Once you start going up against the USSR as Germany, you'll have plenty of opportunities to learn how to properly micro your forces, for example. You don't want to Battle plan charge right into your opponent's forces. You'll bleed out manpower-wise by doing that and you cannot replenish it and only sacrifice your industry by passing higher manpower laws.
For the Spanish civil war if you're playing against AI Republican Spain and USSR then all you need are mountaineers, fighters and CAS (dlc feature lol). You can set a front line and a field marshal and let the game fight for you. All you really have to do it move the air around and set new frontlines each time a pocket is closed.
Hoi4 is fairly arcadey but actually decent in the respect that you don't have to know every intricacy, just the basics and what you think would logically work probably will. All fights are basically dice rolls affected by modifiers. Air support? Positive modifier. Attacking a fort? Negative modifier. Attacking over a river, negative. You get the point.
It really isn't as difficult as you're probably telling yourself it is. Just go through the tabs at the top one by one and take it as you will. If you want to play easy mode just trade slovakia for danzig and wait until the USSR starts a war, then you can piggyback off everyone else instead of fighting all at once.
Forgot to mention, you "kill" units by surrounding them. You can drain their manpower and equipment by taking favourable trades anyways but encirclements are the optimal choice
well where do you and your 2~5 gamer friends you've known since highschool/college hang out?
join a dedicated mp discord for noobs. if you're new you'll probably have to play as a lame nation and take orders from other homosexuals but it'd still be kinda fun
Simply go to the special ed section of your local high school
if ur gonna play mp be prepared for total autism
How? Sure, 36 Width is powerful, but how do you get combat stats that jacked?
General traits and field marshal traits plus air superamcy and breakthrough tactic
I see. Thanks for the info. I need to try that out sometime. Looks insane.
Barbarossa bonus
Tank designer
Support companies
Spies
Terrain
Air support
Your allies building equipment for you while you focus on just tanks
Also Grand Battle Plan Doctrine left side for planning bonus
Don't worry, as soon as 1943 hit the host told the german player that he needed to start losing for the historical accuracy
>mp
Or just find an equally autistic single player mod where the AI reaches those kinds of buffs
Go to Multiplayer tab and find a "1936 discord" game, don't join the no discord ones they usually die cause a major crashes or someone leaves.
TNO is a homosexual VN grafted onto HoI4 and I don't recommend it.
TNO was a neat idea but they forgot to actually have a game in there, it's just words words words while you wait for focuses to finish and then the game's over.
>words words words
idk..I don't think these paradox games are very fun to play with others, I've tried playing with friends before but we just end up not talking at all because we're busy managing everything and speeding up time to zip through stuff and see the events ck is very similar in MP it's shitty imp, it's not like civilization or something along those lines
hoi 4 is garbage for multiplayer, every single patch has a very defined meta that blows everything else to oblivion
you have a very specific and paricular ratio of infantry to art to follow, last patch it was stacking every other kind of artillery to get bonker numbers. average hoi4 mp match went like this
>buildup at moron slow speed because thats the norm in mp
>5 hours later you get to play the game
>slam minmax division 1 against minmax division 2 for a special piece of terrain
>whoever loses the diceroll has already assigned two armies and a half to the adjacent territories beside/behind the one the other guy is attacking and will micro reinforcements forever
>thirty minutes later the advancing side moves into the terrain, getting immediately wiped out by the other guy's reinforcing divisions and the ground changes hands again
>this goes on for hours
they ban bombers, ban certain templates, ban certain units, ban parachutes, ban nukes, ban whatever the frick you can come up with, and the next broken thing becomes meta and you cant fight it at all. only way to have fun with this game is to play historical and try to be somewhat historical yourself, use a mod like black ice or expert ai and try to overcome the enemy without cheesing the game entirely
Dix
That's French.
