how do you make a "strong" female character that appeals to gamers?
I ask because most devs clearly have no clue and keep fricking it up

make her hot
make her mute
hmm good idea. Should we be able to read her thoughts though to know her opinion in certain situations or nah
>read her thoughts
Women have no thoughts or inner voice (similar to black people). They're soulless objects that can sometimes follow simple commands.
Just make an attractive toned woman who doesn't speak (women should be silent), and definitely don't make the game "political" by alluding in any way to the real life facts that women are objectively underpaid, undervalued, and underrepresented in our oppressive patriarchal society.
stopped reading at underpaid
Typical male fragility on display here
Same gash cope since the right to vote. You all worship the propaganda of Rosie the Riveter, but still have always been unable to stand on your two feet because you are weak, crave attention, require validation for everything, quit easily, and blame others for your shortcomings.
sorry i didnt read your post OP i got distracted cause i want to frick sakura
there are two traps that modern writers in any medium fall into regarding this, and it's entirely due to feminist screeching
they're afraid to make attractive women and they're afraid to give them any kind of flaw
>they're afraid to give them any kind of flaw
This is the main one for a lot of modern characters in general really. You give characters some flaws and it makes them endearing, its through their weaknesses and mistakes that you actually empathise with them. But either because the writers just aren't that good or audiences are more volatile and they're afraid, characters aren't allowed to have flaws and they're not allowed to make mistakes. So bland characters that don't get tested and don't show that they can overcome difficulties it is.
It sounds weird but in making characters "weaker" you make them stronger.
I've also noticed that they'll have a character make a mistake but it's a slap on the wrist kind of mistake while events that SHOULD lead to actual frick ups activate the mary sue powers and everything is fine and there was no mistake at all.
Also just a general writing failure but there's far too much reliance on magic mcguffins and deus ex machina to push the plot instead of making it at least kind of make sense why the characters are going to wherever to do whatever while still trying to pass this writing off as "mature"
That's another big issue too man, if the plot is just happening around the characters and stuff is happening for the sake of happening it's a bad sign. You can usually figure out how bad writing is if you try to summarise it, if your summary is something like "A happened, then B happened, and the C happened etc" instead of something like "A happened, but then B happened, except for C happening" it's probably going to be pretty bad. There's just no engagement and you either switch off or get bored and play something else. That status quo has to be broken and there needs to be actual consequences if warranted. Something like the Hero's Journey works for a reason.
But I don't think 100% of the blame should be put on writers, there are way too many factors these days and everything is bound to be done by committee. Unless you have someone with a proven track record like Kojima or Druckmann that can push back, producers and manager types will want to have their say too and they only care about playing things as safe as possible because making games is expensive. The issue with those examples though, is that they can kind of get lost in their ego and have their heads stuck up their butts.
Define "strong". Then after making her that way, give her traits and character flaws alongside that which actively clash with said definition.
What's the bigger cope, tomboygays or architectgays
trick question its BOTH
>that pic
this is the future anti-tomboygays want
can you fricking imagine the tantrums if this game came out today
Uhhh no? mgs3 is a chud favorite
because it's old
Good point. There would be a collective /vpol melt down imagining BB as subordinate to a woman.
There is no single answer besides have them be well written. Anything else is bullshit.
>The Boss
>well written
Try again. She's one of the worst written characters in the entirety of MGS and would be the absolute worst if it weren't for MGS4 Naomi
cringe take. this is like saying that you don't care if a girl is hot and only care about personality. a dude with an ugly gf will always wish she was hot, even if he won't admit it.
>well-written
Nothing about the MG games is well-written. Especially The Boss. I like her but she's hardly an example of a well-written female character.
Man, look at that midriff. Ryu not impregnanting her yet is a CRIME!
>hot and silent action girl
We need more kunoichi
sadly, those died with tenchu
First make it clear if she is strong enough to fight a bear. Or strong in making her presences, hopes, drives and emotions stand out both with and against rest of the cast.
There are plenty of the first for those with muscle fetish. Latter is more rare, as good writers are uncommon and writers whos writing survives the demands of the director and publisher is scarce.
Fall-From-Grace, Kreia and Kealyn the Dove to have some.
She looks cute. What game?
street fighter
Dunno for sure but I bet a good place to start would be not making an obnoxious unlikable b***h. A lot of writers seem to struggle with that.
>I bet a good place to start would be not making an obnoxious unlikable b***h
I feel like half of those would be attacked as examples of toxic masculinity if they were male
Oh, for sure. Just one of many double-standards that happens to be highly pervasive in the modern industry, much like how sex and nudity are only bad when featured in games from a certain country.
Make a good character, give them some breasts.
Women are people, if you're a competent writer you shouldn't have any issue
There are plenty of decent female characters in video games, they just aren't cringe no personality self-inserts for dumb angry female land whales.
Chung Li
Cammy
Cortana
Samus
Jill Valentine
Aeris
Tifa
Ciri
Laura Croft
Kitana
Yennefer
>Chung Li
>Laura Croft
How moronic do you have to be to screw up these names. Jesus christ.
Just make her a decently written character.
People dont seem to realize this.
make her wear all black with silver israeliteelry and smell like lilac and gooseberries.
sex
Please tell me she's going to be in 6.
she's in several story illustrations
that wouldn't be too important on it's own since many other characters with no hope of returning do as well but she has a new design in all of them
Although I like Sakura, I don't understand why she would ever come back. Her story in 5 was basically "I'm done with this, time to become a housewife."
because the man she wants to be a housewife of is still going around the world being autistic
lol. I got the impression she was over her crush on Ryu.
She'll be added in 2 years
give her a cute accent
Would ya settle for me sausage?
Make a strong male character then do the absolute minimum required to turn them female. Artist are too shit to let them do it another way.
heres my idea
shes pretty
she knows shes pretty
cute iconic armor or outfit, but not bikini armor tier
shes good at some kind of skill, like a pilot or engineer or something.
shes not an butthole but stands her ground when she needs to
SHE ACTUALLY HAS A HUGE PENIS SHES A troony HAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHA
AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAA
im gay
TUMMY
japan does it all the time.
developers aren't putting strong female characters in their games in order to appeal to gamers. it's quite the opposite. they're made to be unappealing.
why?
