How do you roleplay a bard?

How do you roleplay a bard /tg/? Surely you use the class' unique themes and concepts to create an interesting character instead of just making tired jokes about seducing monsters, right?
Pic mostly unrelated. Jesters are bards, right?

Is there a non-D&D system where "bard" is a class?

          Many.

            Which ones?
Most I know of are either D&D derivates or at least strongly influenced by it or use bard as simply a performer.

Such as? I'm not aware of any.

There's nothing "based" about modern D&D, it's the most normieslop game on the market.

When I RPd a bard, she was a bitter discredited academic type. Party seemed to like her dark humor, but I only played her for two sessions, I don't think I'd have been able to keep the character interesting for longer.

Bring your musical instrument along with you to the session and play it every time you cast a spell
You CAN play an instrument, right anon?

Yes but the kind of bard i will end playing could be a bit of a whiplash depending on the game tone:

Cringe. People who play child characters are always fricking sexual-deviants with fetishes I'd rather not know about. Every fricking time.

I mean I’ve played child characters, but my fetish is so vanilla that you e probably seen it in half the porn you’ve ever watched and not even realized it.

[spoilers]Chicks wearing pants but no tops or bras. I dunno, it looks sexy to me[/spoiler]

Okay I also like women in Napoleonic-era military uniforms. But while they might not exactly be vanilla it’s hardly all that deviant.

Sometimes it just takes a nice pair of breasts to get the job done.

I don't roleplay bards, they aren't adventurers to the extremes that my games demand.
Classes aren't in my games, period. Instead, I have categorizations of abilities that can be invested in by choice, and a selection of unique abilities per race.
The kinds of characters that interest me have specialization in two abilities that are conducive to those of their race, who can rely on each other to take down dangerous monsters or to watch each others' backs if they need to get away from an impossible foe.
Seduction isn't a thing in my games.
A jester could be a bard, if their tomfoolery involves regaling an epic through poetry or song.

I'm playing a bard right now. He was raised by the fey, wants to cook, eat and serve everything the party slays and puts a lot of importance on money. No real sexual adventures but he went on to woo a noble lady since there was a real possibility he could marry into wealth and status. Also jack of all trades is fun

I did a while back and had a lot of fun.
Played essentially a Skald who was an orator, telling inspirational stories of heroes and legends. He was so obsessed with these stories that he struck out to adventure in hopes of experiencing the birth of the new heroes and legends of the future.
It also pushed him to do acts of heroism he had no right to do. For instance, we were chasing down a minor demon prince who made a BBEG appearance to mock us, spawn a bunch of mooks on us, and then opened a portal to escape.
However I intentionally moved myself in front of the portal and blocked his way through it.
The demon prince laughs and slaps me so hard that I was down to like 2 hit points left.
My turn rolls up and the GM asks what I do.
I knew I should obviously retreat and let the BBEG get away, but I knew the bard would be too much of a fool to do it so I stood my ground.
That gave the party rogue (who was actually a good dude who knew how to play the archetype while still being a team player) enough time to dash up behind the demon prince and get his sneak attack in.
In a magical moment I'll never forget he rolled on the table and got the 20 critical hit.
Better yet he rolled godly damage too and ended up slaying the demon prince with that blow.
The bard crafted a new tale that day, one he was part of and had front row seats to witnessing.
