Larian can make difficult games apparently (I've heard DOS2 tactical mode is insane but maybe that was a meme), and bg3 can be hard early game but idk how the frick you're getting filtered

I started playing crpgs 3 years ago after seeing ssseth vid about arcanum, from there went arcanum(obv)->(bundled in -75% sale)bg1->bg2->iwd1->planetscape->bg3 early access so I'm not a completely new player to the system but learning something like the dnd system bg1 uses with AC etc is a lot harder than bg3

BG3 is a good game and people are starved for actual good games. Elden Ring DLC is gonna sell like fricking crazy because it will most likely be good and theres literally nothing else to play. It's either Elden Ring DLC, soulless woke triple aaa dei goyslop, or wade through pages and pages of "overwhelmingly positive" 2d indie titles on steam.

it was pretty mid. I didnt enjoy the combat or the dialogue or the world building and dont even get me started on the companions. DOS2 had some of the most memorable encounters of any rpg i have ever played and there was usually no way to skip the content. its the opposite in this game. combat takes fricking years and you skip all the memorable sections because its easier to skip/cheese. luckily bg3 released at a time where the game industry was releasing nothing but absolute fricking GARBAGE and broken games (this game was really buggy on release too).
I think the biggest problems with this game specifically is how much it encourages savescumming and how obnoxious the rest system is. They have to make a lot of climactic encounters total bullshit where it throws out all your prep or spawns 50 adds or cc every character or whatever else because encounters have to party wipe you in one shot. you cant go through a grueling gauntlet of small battles because long rest and short rests are so free. You always have peak resources. Lots of things are gatekept by dice rolls (including dialogue which is moronic) so you either maximize your advantage and trivialize every dice roll or you savescum so that you never miss any content, completely defeating the point of dice rolls and chance in the first place. the game also takes forever to do anything, but thats just a larian problem in general and modern vidya isnt much better about that.
The fact that this is held up as the gold standard of RPG gameplay and not a game like fire emblem fates conquest is just proof of how fricked normies tastes are. they dont think any deeper about game design than how the game made them feel in the moment so they chase spectacle and online discussion instead of engaging well made gameplay.
The magic system was fun though
