>but too long imo
the story is a many hour long tutorial and is kind of torture
actually playing it is fun but you have to do the story to unlock mechanics, and IMO, the main island doesn't let you have enough npcs to populate the whole island well (I got it on Switch though, not sure if it's nerfed there)
They pivoted the Builders series into the Treasures series (same devs, mostly the same core gameplay foundation just with more added) and Builders fans are upset because they think it means we'll never get a builders 3. They're probably right, but there hasn't been something from SE that says they're flatout not doing another builders.
Both of these are fantastic games. I'm not and never was big into RPGs, but the characters, enemies and world of the Dragon Quest series are aggressively charming. Both DQ11 and Builders 2 are comprised of episodic scenarios that make it feel like a season of the corniest anime imaginable and it doesn't require a lot of investment from the player to be enjoyable. They're both long ass games though, like 80 hours or more. I can't imagine playing them back to back.
it does not. they're all good games, with III, V and XI being masterpieces, VII, IV and VIII being amazing and potential favorites, and VI, II, IX and I being fun
Disgusting double dip bullshit, is what it is. >Thanks for buying our game, but we'll be taking all the extra content to these frickers who only own the playmobil platform >Haha you want the content too? That'll be $60 plus tip, and no you can't have the original texture quality back.
it was only 40 and on sale it goes to 22, 22 would actually be a fair price for the content, since you get a gazillion new quests, scenes, qol and the 2D mode. if you buy it on sale you didn't get scammed.
No. It’s a fricking graphical downgrade. All the content ahead be accessible in the original superior version. Even as DLC it should be capped at like $10 but ideally should be free. It’s pure Jap Black person Bullshit and an emblem of the moral and creative bankruptcy of Squenixx.

a) that's not what happens in XI
b) the entire point of the original ending of XI is that you win the day and save the land but it comes at a real cost in the form of one of your party members. the revised ending of XI is everything is happy and bright and everyone is better for being a part of the group and everyone is alive and all is well in the world because the bad guy didn't actually ever do anything in the first place.
That's awful writing no matter how you look at it. The original ending isn't exactly grimdark either. You still save the day, you still bring peace and order back to the world, most of the characters end up in the same (or better) positions than they do in the revised ending. They just cheapened it all by bringing back the one character that died and stopping the big bad from 'winning' the first time around.

Mate the monsters murdered several villages which are the equivalent of full countries in DQ and your cousin gets speared on monster wiener for years and everyone you loved is dead.

Mate,
Mate if the game had it's first act, and you lost, and the BBEG wins the day, and then credits rolled and there was no act 2 or 3, then yeah you might have a point, that would be a pretty grimdark ending where the heroes lose. But that's not the case.
There's an entire second act where the BBEG is defeated at the end and (mostly) everything is restored to normalcy at the end of XI. Not sure what game you played. That entire second act is effectively nullified by the third act, and seeing how the second act is one of the best acts in any JRPG to date, that's a travesty.

The frick are you babbling about.
If Terminator 2 ended with the T-800 going back in time to kill the original T-800 and stopping the events from T1 and T2 from happening, sure you might have some kind of connective point. (which I'm pretty sure is the plot point of the most recent movie)
But that's not what happens. Judgement day still comes after T2, even in the established T2 canon Judgement Day still occurred after the T-800 scarified himself to burn his chip to ensure that they were never built in the first place..
I give you an F - Try again.

From what I vaguely remember it was even stupider. John is killed successfully, for some reason Judgement Day never happens, CyberDine fails for some reason and is replaced by a brand new company that causes a different apocalypse. It's the dumbest shit ever and I fell asleep which is why I dont remember.
Just look at this shit

Oh yeah and to make it worse, the Terminator that kills John then wanders off, forms a "family" with some humans and is secretly helping Sarah and the other main cast out of "guilt" for what he did to John.
I beat the game and got the credits at like 100 hours in and apparently there's an entire 3rd act that I missed that happens post credits.
Never actually got around to playing that, but the first two acts of the game are pure unfiltered kino.
I hear the 3rd act is timey wimey bullshit that fixes the fricked up ending of act 2, but personally I like the way act 2 ended.
I dropped it because it has ONE generic castletown bgm and one overworld theme despite going to vastly different places. >Castletown >CastletownBGM >NotJapanVillage >CastletownBGM >Deserttown >CastletownBGM
Its like this for at least 30hours.
>Build a comfy base in the desert town >Have to scrap 25% of it to build the Gold Bar
fugggg
Game is super good though, I need to go back and finish the Isle of Awakening tasks
Absolutely kino game but the vast majority of people played without Super Hard Monsters so they never got deep into the battle system and then complained about how easy it is. Happens a lot with underappreciated games.
Hard difficulty was fun until that fricking octopus boss
Every single thing you say they don't have anymore gets replaced by a better version where they go through the same thing but get a happy ending instead. DQ is not for you.
>go through the same thing
no they fricking dont you lying Black person, time jannies leave plotholes everywhere and nobody had any motivation to go save the world, DQ5 was more fricking nuanced than Act 3's baby shit. I refuse to play the final act of the game anymore, the normal ending is perfect.
Good and Jade is pure sex. I don't like DQ other than DQ3 and DQ7 but I thought this was good, although I played the PS4 version and not the updated one
11 was the first Dragon Quest I had played since 6, and while I'll say I absolutely loved the story and the traditionalist gameplay, the team behind it was incredibly lazy, I expected more between the gap of 6-11, and a massive jump in the capability of modern console hardware.
You have to retread the same mostly linear map 3 times with only minor changes to the environment depending on the story arc, the monsters are all still just fricking repetitive pallet swaps instead of having different clothes/horns/ornaments depending on the point in the story or your location, 90% of the bosses are just regular mob models but bigger.
I'm glad they stuck to the old school roots, but god I wish they expanded on variety (which I know is a lot to expect of that washed up hack Toriyama, but still), it doesn't have to be like Final Fantasy, but delivering a brilliant story in a repetitive bland world kinda takes the punch out of it.
I installed DQ 11. It was supposed to be my first DQ ever, but the character designs are nowhere as good as the doujins led me to believe. So I quit after the first cinematic. Toriyama is a hack.
It's a good JRPG but not a masterpiece. Rock Solid on all fronts but nothing about it is really stand out. It has a good battle system (but poorly balanced and with way too many RNG mechanics), a good cast (that gets middling and contradictory character development), a good story (that fumbles over its best elements in the third act which is inseparable because it's the core part of the narrative), good world design (with no stand out levels or environments just an average FFXII style game). Really it's a Dragon Quest game, you won't be disappointed but I can't picture someone having it as their favorite.
Very fricking boring, I dropped it by mid of Act 2 because I couldn't bare playing it for more than 30 mins. Too many cutscenes, boring environments, terrible music and sleep inducing battles.
Will someone who actually knows what they're doing please give me some breasts for team-building and skills? I like gay man, old man and healer lady but I'd use big sword man and hot girl if need be, maybe even magic girl and healer girl or even edge man for the slime hunting properties
You can beat the game with anyone without too much trouble unless you stacked all of the Draconian options when you started, so play with who you want.
That said, you really don't need that much healing. Gay Man's Hustle Dance can keep your entire party alive and he learns Oomphle, so he can pump up hero or Erik or whoever you're building into your physical powerhouse. His only weakness is the lack of Zing, and either Old Man or Healer Lady covers for that. Which of those two to run depends on whether you'd prefer Sap or Buff, respectively, and Healer Lady is good enough at healing that you can drop both Gay Man and Old Man if you feel like it.
To review: >have someone with party-wide healing >have at least one person with Zing >have a source of Oomph and/or Sap >have a heavy physical attacker to benefit from buffs/debuffs
If you meet all of those, nothing else really matters.
Big dick damage that can one shit any boss is Erik venom strike setup.
You oomph erik and sap the boss.
Poison boss with either Erik or sylvando.
Make erik use his shadow clone technique and attack the boss with Erik's move that does like 600% extra damage to poisoned enemies
Magic girl is useless until the endgame. Endgame magic is, however, the absolute best damage dealer in the game, especially paired with gay man who has the abillity to give up his turn to give a girl a second turn.
Great
and then it repeats itself
and then it does it again
You really need some JPRG autism of year long breaks to get past the first third of the game, but at least the first third is brilliant and well worth buying it for.
Also the soundtrack is legit bad, no exaggeration. The best tracks are all the callbacks to previous titles.
*OR year long breaks between each segment
which is how I played through it, it genuinely took me 5 years to beat this game and even then I haven't done the postgame

a) that's not what happens in XI
b) the entire point of the original ending of XI is that you win the day and save the land but it comes at a real cost in the form of one of your party members. the revised ending of XI is everything is happy and bright and everyone is better for being a part of the group and everyone is alive and all is well in the world because the bad guy didn't actually ever do anything in the first place.
>The original ending isn't exactly grimdark either
That entire second act is effectively nullified by the third act, and seeing how the second act is one of the best acts in any JRPG to date, that's a travesty.
>terminator 2 is a bad movie because it undoes the hardship the world goes through and lives happily ever after
The frick are you babbling about.
I like how somewhere along the lines they decided that Sarah Conner was also part terminator.
Oh yeah and to make it worse, the Terminator that kills John then wanders off, forms a "family" with some humans and is secretly helping Sarah and the other main cast out of "guilt" for what he did to John.
I get that you only want to enjoy mature games for mature people such as yourself, but Dragon Quest is not for you.
>option to give Senena a haircut
>no option to give the MC a haircut
do yu have to play DQ2 to enjoy DQ2 builders story
no you fricking moron. what the frick is up with the way you type? why did your parents let you on this website?
best robari, basterd mother is prostitute
yeah
I beat the game and got the credits at like 100 hours in and apparently there's an entire 3rd act that I missed that happens post credits.
Never actually got around to playing that, but the first two acts of the game are pure unfiltered kino.
I hear the 3rd act is timey wimey bullshit that fixes the fricked up ending of act 2, but personally I like the way act 2 ended.
I dropped it because it has ONE generic castletown bgm and one overworld theme despite going to vastly different places.
>Castletown
>CastletownBGM
>NotJapanVillage
>CastletownBGM
>Deserttown
>CastletownBGM
Its like this for at least 30hours.
I could swear notJapan was the one town with an unique song for some reason
good game
i like babs
good
>Build a comfy base in the desert town
>Have to scrap 25% of it to build the Gold Bar
fugggg
Game is super good though, I need to go back and finish the Isle of Awakening tasks
Absolutely kino game but the vast majority of people played without Super Hard Monsters so they never got deep into the battle system and then complained about how easy it is. Happens a lot with underappreciated games.
Hard difficulty was fun until that fricking octopus boss
>go through the same thing
no they fricking dont you lying Black person, time jannies leave plotholes everywhere and nobody had any motivation to go save the world, DQ5 was more fricking nuanced than Act 3's baby shit. I refuse to play the final act of the game anymore, the normal ending is perfect.
Good and Jade is pure sex. I don't like DQ other than DQ3 and DQ7 but I thought this was good, although I played the PS4 version and not the updated one
It's a well-executed but fairly standard JRPG. If you want a JRPG you will get a JRPG.
Best one right after 9
I usually dont like monster girls but Michelle did me something funny
>it's all a dream by DQ3's sage
wild
are the music mods any good for this?
having to manually switch tracks gets old after a while
I installed DQ 11. It was supposed to be my first DQ ever, but the character designs are nowhere as good as the doujins led me to believe. So I quit after the first cinematic. Toriyama is a hack.
Pretty good if you like your standard jrpg
To review:
>have someone with party-wide healing
>have at least one person with Zing
>have a source of Oomph and/or Sap
>have a heavy physical attacker to benefit from buffs/debuffs
If you meet all of those, nothing else really matters.
I think I will go for old man, gay man, hero and one undecided one. What about synergies with the big dick moves, though?
Big dick damage that can one shit any boss is Erik venom strike setup.
You oomph erik and sap the boss.
Poison boss with either Erik or sylvando.
Make erik use his shadow clone technique and attack the boss with Erik's move that does like 600% extra damage to poisoned enemies
The only moves I cared about:
>Hero/Erik's guaranteed steal
>Hero/Erik/Jade's guaranteed rare drops
>Hero/Sylv/Jade's metal monster summon
It's not really worthwhile to farm pep status, even for boss fights.
>It's not really worthwhile to farm pep status, even for boss fights.
I meant to say it's not worthwhile to farm it for combat. It's always worth it for generating XP and rare resources.
what's about battle tactics on the actual last boss?
I didn't play the updated version yet so I don't know.
don't underestimate the gay French man. he's less homosexual than all of the United States. he's actually a pretty good with buffs/debuffs
Magic girl is useless until the endgame. Endgame magic is, however, the absolute best damage dealer in the game, especially paired with gay man who has the abillity to give up his turn to give a girl a second turn.
very good better than octopath traveler
Great
and then it repeats itself
and then it does it again
You really need some JPRG autism of year long breaks to get past the first third of the game, but at least the first third is brilliant and well worth buying it for.
Also the soundtrack is legit bad, no exaggeration. The best tracks are all the callbacks to previous titles.
*OR year long breaks between each segment
which is how I played through it, it genuinely took me 5 years to beat this game and even then I haven't done the postgame
no idea, but the game is actually pretty good itself.
duel wielding hero with both best swords is a fricking power house. every character should have their own weapon specialties
