Looks interesting enough, I'll give the demo a whirl soon, it'll have to be pretty good as $20 is a pretty big ask for an obscure indie game.

Been messing with the demo, it's actually pretty fun. I don't know if you are the dev or not, OP. But I don't really care either way seeing as the cup of interesting strategy games isn't exactly overflowing atm. I might actually pick this up at some point.

Won with two gods so. It's satisfying watching heroes fall, murder each other, or converting them instead of outright killing them.
Elves seem neat. I don't care for orcs and they create more awareness early.
Favorite moment from a recent game: some guy I didn't even corrupt just hated another religion that much he killed 3 nuns. Bunch of panic early but funny to see.
And the music is comfy. It's like dwarf fortress and dominions in one mega autism background stimulation soundtrack.

Yeah. A game takes about 2 hours depending on settings. Very addicting just a few more turn moments.

Maybe. $20 and never goes on sale. But it is early access and stuff was added in a patch last week. If it was higher, no.
It's a lot of fun for a while, but then you figure out the winning strategy which kills replayability. There is a lot of cool stuff you could do, but most of it is not viable. Also the alliance mechanic sucks, making the late game either too easy or just unfun depending onbthe settings.

Currently playing as the tree lady. Not having a place that spreads shadow is fun. Spreading heart seeds in anticipation of stealthing to pozzload the kingdom. Mortals will never see me coming :^)
used to having world panic ahead of victory until about the end, surprising to see so close already. world has been in tons of unrest, wars between humans and elves.

Finished and won. World panic shot up at the end after being behind for so long. All I did was nom a few villages why humans gotta be hating? -_- Got my first chosen one kill with the trickster because CO forgot to hire body guards. Hated combat and spent the whole game lowering unrest.
Kinda disappointed to see how few leaders accept tree ladys blessings. Whole cities were lost to plague and unrest that had blessings to remove those effects. I only ended up enshadowing a few leaders and won through destruction.
Elves are too minor to cause any real problems and mostly exist to be picked on by humans. Their art is poor, usually just a helmet with ears.
If the dev is watching this thread, I have a gripe: adjust the scroll speed. Looking at the modifier menu (6) and scrolling down to plague requires more effort than it should.
For Gifts you want to look at the leader’s traits. Or the Village modifier. Nectar if they are starving, gift of Gold if they are greedy. These are your primary gifts, everything else is highly situational. Toxins and Pheromones can be used if you think it will pay off.
I played the demo, the idea/lore is interesting but the the gameplay itself kind of meh
I would enjoy it if the dev hadn't just entirely ditched working on Shadows Behind the Throne 2, that is pretty much the same game, and started making this one while charging 3x more for it in early access.
