Haven't touched my first save file since I beat it other than for some PVE MP stuff, at level 153 and don't want to enter the DLC too overleveled, started a second save file though to get any bosses I missed and get the other endings (Ranni and Frenzied Flame)

It's the Ritual Sword Talisman effect which pops up when the player is at full hp, and the player has health regen.

400. I've been doing multiple runs with friends recently after they convinced me to do the seamless coop. The connection issues it solves made it really fun for me again.
This many plus the around 100 hrs in have on the ps4 version. Played the PS5 version first then after getting the plat I played the ps4 without using cross save.
900 or so. I've beaten it 4 plus times for the platinum. My original file has like 590 hours on it I sit around getting summoned as a blue phantom.

250 hours, got every achievement, had a ton of fun with the game and its my personal gotyay, that said, dont really understand the autists that have over 500 hours on it.
440. Everytime i go to NG+ i lose interest because of how fricking boring it is. Empty chests, pointless dungeons that just give spirits that i already have, no new enemies or at least new enemy placement.
I will probably use mods that add new weapons and movesets and use CE to increase NG+ to NG++++ or something so enemies won't die in one hit.

I did three playthroughs. The first was as a STR/DEX build using Bloodhound's Fang for most of the game. That run was around 265 hours to completion. The second was as a pure bleed build using dual-wield uchigatanas and then Eleonora's Poleblade. That run was around 120 hours to completion. The third was as a INT build and I used a variety of weapons including Meteorite Staff . That run was around 90 hours to completion. Total of around 450 hours.

about 70. I loved lithurnia and limgrave but everything right afterwards just felt lacklaster. I still enjoyed ER but as a souls-fan i prefer the linear formula instead of open world. I'm still at altus plateau though and the map is pretty here atleast.

But the idea of exploring every single corner of the world to find some rowas puts me off.
I much very prefer to play Dark Souls 1 or 3 with a "path" and stages than whatever elden ring does
Id start with just a big ass sword with some faith to buff yourself, then magic in your second but it's very viable in the first as well probably their only game that balanced magic and melee properly
600-ish. Between 4 characters. Usually do allot co-op when I get to the consecrated snow fields and then allot of pvp once I get to the Haligtree. Doing that inflates my final hours with each play through. Probably would have been more but I didn’t want to burn myself out on 5th run. I haven’t played seriously since last summer. I didn’t really mess with the coliseum update because I don’t take pvp that seriously. It was cute but I’m waiting for the DLC to jump back in.
Like 100. I beat the game and just lost interest. There's some good ideas there but if they took out snowfield and gelmir the game would be a lot better by allocating the dev time to something else like not having pallet swap soldiers as a mainstay enemy. Raya Lucaria is funny as a strength build tho and stormveil is very good.

Spent some time just doing low level invasions, then did some challenge runs, then I did a moonveil run just to see how busted it was.
Made a character to try out Malenia's sword, now I'm just doing co-op to wait for the DLC.

I swap to normal weapons when the host isn't running a homosexual ganksquad.
If I invade a solo host, I usually drop an end-game weapon.
I dropped magma blades, thorned whips, beastman cleavers, and crystal rot spears. Thinking of doing a pizza cutter run just for shits and giggles

I remember Carian Slicer was extremely busted in PvP a long time ago. Still pretty viable today but you have to make your build around it (Lusat + Carian Glinstone staff off-hand).

Moonveil is a shitter crutch in the hands of idiots and amazing nearly unreactable swap tool for good invaders. It has a shitload of range and it can hit entire crowds.
Carian Slicer is the dumbest on low levels. Meteor Staff is not upgradeable and is essentially a +17 weapon. At super low levels you can make a mage who true combos stomp into carian slicer for absolutely insane damage.
It's unfortunate they removed chaincasting, it was amazing.

I remember doing a lvl150 poise mage build once (80 int, 60 vigor and something like 80 poise if I remember well) and I won 80% of my duels by just using Slicer and Piercer. Sometimes I one-shotted people with a single Piercer hit.

The name that rings a bell in everyone's mind. This gargantuan character in modern fiction is truly a milestone in writing and creativity as a whole.
When he came out, he was unremarkable, due to being a mysterious and, as of yet, unexposed character. Yet, his design was already unique when compared to the rest of the series. Where everyone had spiky features and sharp angles in design, borderline edgy; this alabaster-tinged huge and simplistic man took everyone for surprise with this different approach.
As his characterization, nuances, motives, motifs, techniques and philosophy started to get expounded to the public throughout 2018, he began to gain traction. A LOT of it.
Arguably better motives than the MCs, and a power on a league of his own, he was introduced as "Stronger than a GoD", while being depicted in a deep meditative state in a black void, representing his utter concentration, surrounded by a crimson aura.
"Stronger than a God of Destruction"... hitherto an unfathomable concept. Only angels were known to be at that level up to this point. Automatically stripping the hopes of individuality in every character of the cast so far.
One thing was clear, if they wanted to even have a chance at the fatidic, upcoming tournament, they would have to rely heavily on teamwork strategies. Just because of this one opponent.
Toppo was the first one to make mention of this gargantuan and hitherto unknown entity. Deigning him as "much stronger than me and our GoD" when addressing Goku. This only made the aforementioned psycho even more excited, as his transgression that put the whole multiverse in jeopardy would be much more justified this way.
In fact, we had seen this character for the first time in the opening of the current arc. As a nimble, mastodonic individual fighting with Goku, both in base– the MC in this instance is depicted to be in his base form, due to that fight actually taking place against Omen, further in the series, and therefore avoiding spoilers– and in SSB.
The contrast of blue and red between the contestants auras already foreshadowing a juxtaposition in their fundaments and ideologies. As it is expounded into detail further down the road.
At this time, before Jiren's debut on the series, many speculations and pontifiactions were being had. Discussing a wide array of aspects pertaining to this enigmatic entity. >Do you like his design? >He's Superman if he was an alien >He's generic and boring
And likewise similar, uneducated avowals were being uttered by the common rabble, mostly comprised of casual moeshitters and uneducated individuals. Little did they know at the time–and little ways of knowing did they have– that this character would become one of the most iconic characters in the series, helping it to reach its climax of popularity and acclaim.
Everyone was excited for the overly popular, canon anime. Already superseding the manga in release speed, relevance, art style, writing and all else you can think of.
The days for the ToP were counting down and nobody could wait any longer.
The day finally came, and the first time we got to this... this gargantuan overlord's fully fledged silhouette.
All the universes are teleported into the Kachi Katchin arena, for which most of them will be the last one they ever see.
The main cast is teleported. At which time they survey their surroundings. Goku, having experience in sensing strong fighters, immediately aims his scope to U11. Jiren's universe.
He immediately recognizes Toppo and goes ahead to greet him. Same Toppo that could go toe to toe with SSBKK in their previous and prematurely truncated duel.
His crass and coarse self-introduction is met with disdain and disgust. As U11 is a sophisticated universe and is opposed to this vomitive idea of deciding the fate of the multiverse in a petty tournament. If only they knew this was Goku's doing.
Then it happens. Goku gets a glimpse of the MAN himself. With his wide and imposing back turned to him. "That must be Jiren" he says to Toppo, as he proceeds to greet him.
As he opens his odorous trapdoor of a mouth to utter a disrespectful prose to the enigmatic alabaster pillar of muscle, he stops dead in his tracks. All of his senses going into overdrive. Frozen with fear. His words are interrupted from a baritone pitch coming right from behind him. >KIERO (get FRICKING lost)
Goku, discombobulated, does a 360º to face the voice directly behind him.
It was the MAN. The GREY himself. Looming down at him, with a blank stare. Almost two meters tall, looking over his barrel chest, meeting his huge, dark eyes with the villainous fiend's own.
Goku could not even believe what just happened. Just a yottasecond before, he had the Grey man 10 meters in front of him. He is even sure he heard the voice while still looking at the man in front of him. Was it just his afterimage?
The saiyan's stupefied state of utter terror is interrupted by huge blocks of Kachi Katchin enveloped in GoD energy fly at Mach 23 towards them. Goku immediately jumps outta the way, scared that they would rend his flesh apart if they touch him, and looks down at Jiren, meeting his demeanor with a stunning surprise. The alabaster man just closes his eyes, with his arms crossed. Surely he didn't sense the blocks?
He did. He did sense the blocks and he knew they wouldn't hit him. And even if they did, they would disintegrate upon his mighty Ki shield. Just a byproduct of his UNIMAGINABLY humongous Ki.
This sets up the narrative for this man's incomprehensible strength and starts to dwell on the old DB concept of the protagonists being outclassed. But this time, they are COMPLETELY outclassed. Not even a contestation. Not even for debate. They're out of their league and they don't know it yet.
The time comes for Jiren to reveal an inkling of his enigmatic strength. A secondary character has just captured one of his teammates, capable of facing Golden Frieza and give him a run for his money.
To make a long story short, Jiren propels the contestant off stage with the mere shockwave of his fist.
We are in the beginning of 2018 at this point. The love for him has not yet risen, due to obvious reasons. There are some rare cases of artists and writers alike already mentioning this character's virtues, as they start to unravel before the audience.
Fan art starts to be pumped out. Fans start being born. Even people who don't like his design are already entranced at the possibilities the utter mystery of his disposition and narrative portrays.
We would not hear of his exploits until further down the road, after the minor secondary characters expose their contributions. We would see him defeating a Legendary Super Saiyan, who just face-tanked a SSB Kamehameha to the face– while giving a nod to the old Broly movie–while being unscathed.
You heard it right. This man, on his heavily suppressed state, just LITERALLY one-shot a rampaging LSS berseker. This saiyan had to be saved from an inevitable ring-out by one of his teammates.
This is the first fact that would be relevant down the road, where another Legendary Super Saiyan, comparable in strength with the aforementioned one, would be introduced, albeit completely overshadowed by previous events; marking the initial mental blow for his fans.
Jiren's GoD finally pleads him through a telepathic link to take action. To crush the most troublesome contestant in the arena so far, the villain Goku. Jiren's amazing voice actor lets out a "I understand". This adherence to the GoD's command stems, not out of fear or obedience, but out of respect for a friend.
Quite literally everyone is expectant of this fight. This is the two episode special Toei announced. Two episodes in one week. That is how colossal this moment in the series is.
The fabled and thoroughly anticipated moment. Goku vs Jiren. The world is on watch. Streaming sites are crashing. Records in profits are being obliterated.
Here's a synopsis. >base Goku cannot even touch him >SS Goku cannot even make him blink >SS2 Goku can barely sway his stalwart disposition >SSG gets blocked with a finger, sending the same universe-shattering waves that were cast in his battle with Beerus
After a flurry of punches, Goku sees Jiren frown his brow, at which moment he realizes he's wasting Jiren's time.
This is where the Grey man's feats start to shine. After Goku goes SSB and starts fighting him, Jiren brings the saiyan to prostration in less than a minute even after he tried SSBKK on him. Steps on him quite like he would on a odorous turd and almost one-shots him out of the arena. The kissless protagonist charges at him with SSBKKx20 and almost dies with, quite literally, just a glare from Jiren the Gray.
Afterwards, Goku relinquishes his SSB power in order to create his Spirit Bomb. Jiren's intricate characterization allows him to avow a disclaimer to the lesser life form in front of him. He will wait until his petty technique is complete, so he can hurl him at full force and be met with utter disappointment and despair.
Jiren seeks not to immediately and swiftly deal with his opponents. That would be pointless, as it would not only do for a bad denouement for the audience (the main goal of the series itself), but it would also mean that their opponents would not even have a chance to experience the equivocal nature of their philosophies.
In his own way, Jiren seeks to convey his beliefs to his detractors by having them clash head on against absolute strength, and fall on their KNEES at the realization that the only thing that matters is exactly what just thwarted them.
This absolute strength Jiren is adamant upon, and as of yet has not vocalized, is the pillar of his character and philosophy. He vehemently believes that strength and strength alone is the driving force upon one can effectively rely on. If you are weak, you cannot enforce your will at all. And all you've trusted and relied upon until the moment you failed to exert your power will perish.

The energy of all of the strongest warriors in U7 is effectively condensed into a single attack. This is quite the metaphor for "last ditch effort". If all of the warriors attacked this man at once, it would be the decisive factor. The outcome of this attack would decide everything.
Guess what, little b***h. It failed. It was a complete and utter failure. This completed spirit bomb, even when enforced and pushed on by a SSBKKx20 just felt short. It clashed against the most blatant feat of power depicted yet. It stopped dead in its tracks and was actually launched back to the saiyan villain with but a mere GLARE of this gargantuan personification of indomitable power and inexorable will.
The Spirit Bomb imploded into a temporal singularity, seemingly killing the villain.
Justice was done. The treacherous universe 7 started weeping at their antithesis of a hero's apparent demise. Jiren, despite the crassness and repulsiveness of his opponent, closes his eyes and bows his head in a heart-warming sign of respect. His strength was definitely worth respecting. Few mortals had ever reached this level before.
And now we arrive in what, for many, is the best moment in the 30 years of this series' life. The first fight of Jiren vs UI Omen. The very moment where the mold for story structure and development was shattered.
So far it followed something akin to: >villain arrives >he is too strong >protagonist train >they struggle, but the villain is winning >new hyped form emerges >the villain gets utterly and irrevocably BTFO
It happened quite like that in a orderly manner, EXCEPT for the last point. Jiren did not care. He did NOT even bat an eye. He remained stoic, stalwart, unimpressed. He has definitely witnessed this level of power before, and perhaps even more. Everyone but HIM was utterly dumbfounded.
This is what made the masses start loving this mold-breaking, stunning character.
The treacherous psychopath Goku raises from the dead with a brand new power up. The fabled and foreshadowed Ultra Instinct. An angelic technique not even GoDs after hundreds of millions of years could attain. The protagonist's lack of higher cognitive abilities facilitates this achievement greatly, as it requires a deep absence of thought in order to achieve it.
This new state of mind is so flashy and elusive that quite literally everyone is discombobulated at the sight of it. It's movements are unreal. Exceedingly fast as it lunges forward to strike the Grey Pillar.
This is the moment where he shines, where Jiren stands out. Every other antagonist would have died here. It would have been their demise. But not him, not Jiren the Chad. This admirable personification of solidity simply fights back, countering and dodging every move. At this point the frame rate of the series is simply unable to depict the fights as they happen.
Toei shines at their job as usual. Presenting this fight in a fantastic and flashy manner. Mogging every other animation company in existence.
BOOM is the sound heard as Goku's final effort clashes against Jiren's oversized hand. "This heat is your limit, little b***h" as he proceeds to literally one-shot Goku out of the arena. This would have been it for U7 if Hit didn't intercede and save Goku.
Even writing itself starts to succumb to Jiren at this point, where Hit is unable to strike Jiren. At this moment it is stated that Jiren doesn't have any openings. This is utterly ignored later on in the series for the sake of virtue signaling and appeal to the audience. One could argue that this is simply due to Jiren's progressively deteriorating stamina, but that can be deigned as headcanon.
Probably like 200? Beaten it three times vanilla, once on reforged, once using the early build of another overhaul mod, and 3 randomizers. Pretty shit game mechanically tbh. Reforged made it a lot better, but just playing sekiro wins.
We can see what happens to anyone without plot armor who dares to face Jiren. Hit is the perfect example. He was dealt with swiftly and mercilessly. Ringed out after a couple of blows. The blinding contrast can be denoted when Jiren has the base saiyans beaten and barely conscious at his feet. He just toys with them instead of ringing them out.
This is when the nuances and the endless possibilities for philosophical debate begin. One can argue that this is just because the looming impossibility of U7 to lose, which is a completely valid point. One can also object that Jiren is merely testing the limits and motivations of this seemingly alien philosophy to him. Where do they get their insane motivation? They are powerless against him and they know it, yet they continue to fight. Are they mentally ill? Are they in shock? And so he keeps pushing them in order to find out.
Truly a Shakespearean character indeed.
From now on, the peerless feats of this character just keep piling up. With each passing episode, he keeps surprising and enthralling the audience with his deep one-liners delivered by a 11/10 voice actor. His aura is captivating and gorgeous.
Characters throw themselves at him in a 3 to 1 handicap, and this man just brushes them off like there are, as himself said "impudent gnats". Mere insects, in layman terms, for the linguistically stunted out there.
This is where his sympathizers get their main arsenal. These unprecedented feats will remain relevant for years to come. As this character will NOT be surpassed anytime soon. For example one-shotting 3 GoD-tier opponents with a mere burst of his aura alone. Incredible, isn't it?

I'm probably close to 800 hours, honestly. I just keep starting new playthroughs with new builds, and on weekends I coop with my older brother on our NG+ build, I'm on NG+9 at level 317 and he's NG+5 at level 475. It's pretty great kicking ass with your (literal) bro.

Its multiplayer is still so active I can't coop for more than two minutes before we're invaded no matter the level, and this is on new character builds all the way to my level 320+ original character. Meaning tons of people are still playing it, thus Elden Ring gets the contrarian homosexual shills here, more so than TotK, since most people just played it once and moved on.
Getting invasions doesn't mean the online is active. I bet it takes forever to get summoned. When I played it a few months ago it was pretty much impossible to get summoned unless it was peak hours

60, It was cool for a playthrough but that's about it. I think that From doesn't really have a talent for open world because it clashes with their no quest log(I don't mean markers, just journal) or easily missable quests/npcs. It is one thing to have it in cohesive, medium length game where it is hard to miss it if you explore and other to have systems in this way in grand open world where it is like finding needle in the haystack

After you're finished with Limgrave you have seen just about everything the game has to offer in terms of open world content - churches, minor erdtrees, caves, catacombs etc are then just repeated ad nauseum with the exact same structure throughout the remaining zones with minimal variations. It wasn't even borked the first run. The game was just so uberpopular that hosts were dying before you could summon into their game. Either by invasion or by enemies.

One thing about invading is that its never supposed to be fair. It wasn't in any DS games, it wasn't in bloodborne either. You go in knowing you're at a disadvantage, and your victory is all the more triumphant for it. Since launch they added near/far searching for invasions and coop and it works great. You can play through the whole game and fixed levels/ weapon upgrade levels and you can get steady coop. The game's died down a little because of no DLC news, but a few months ago I was getting consistent summons at level 20/ +3 weapons in Limgrave. Back to back coop with Margit, Godrick, Black Knife, you name it.
The arena is fine. A good number of players are active on all platforms, there are lots of youtubers who do arena vids and streams too. I don't go in the arena anymore, but random 3v3s and free for alls were fun as frick, if not annoying because of certain spells like waves of gold.

Arena mode at launch was great.
Free for all arena was some of the most insane bullshit.
2v2 was either sweatlords, or people just fricking around. 1v1 was consistently awful at every level range, I didn't enjoy it but I can see why some people do.

The flash of light is from a talisman's buff being activated and the attack misses him because doing a jumping heavy attack with greatswords lowers your hitbox allowing you to dodge under horizontal slashes from big enemies.

I did three playthroughs. The first was as a STR/DEX build using Bloodhound's Fang for most of the game. That run was around 265 hours to completion. The second was as a pure bleed build using dual-wield uchigatanas and then Eleonora's Poleblade. That run was around 120 hours to completion. The third was as a INT build and I used a variety of weapons including Meteorite Staff . That run was around 90 hours to completion. Total of around 450 hours.

I remember Carian Slicer was extremely busted in PvP a long time ago. Still pretty viable today but you have to make your build around it (Lusat + Carian Glinstone staff off-hand).
Even with zero minmaxing at 80 int carian slicer hits for like 500 damage per slice. You really don't need to sweat minmaxing that thing.

Moonveil is a shitter crutch in the hands of idiots and amazing nearly unreactable swap tool for good invaders. It has a shitload of range and it can hit entire crowds.
Carian Slicer is the dumbest on low levels. Meteor Staff is not upgradeable and is essentially a +17 weapon. At super low levels you can make a mage who true combos stomp into carian slicer for absolutely insane damage.
It's unfortunate they removed chaincasting, it was amazing.

Most busted sorcery is night comet with 2 staves of loss, with terra magica you can do over 2,000 damage in PvP, instant one-shot.
Too setup heavy and straightforward for most invasions. Cannon of haima is the best projectile sorcery for invasion.

"Stronger than a God of Destruction"... hitherto an unfathomable concept. Only angels were known to be at that level up to this point. Automatically stripping the hopes of individuality in every character of the cast so far.
One thing was clear, if they wanted to even have a chance at the fatidic, upcoming tournament, they would have to rely heavily on teamwork strategies. Just because of this one opponent.
Toppo was the first one to make mention of this gargantuan and hitherto unknown entity. Deigning him as "much stronger than me and our GoD" when addressing Goku. He did. He did sense the blocks and he knew they wouldn't hit him. And even if they did, they would disintegrate upon his mighty Ki shield. Just a byproduct of his UNIMAGINABLY humongous Ki.
This sets up the narrative for this man's incomprehensible strength and starts to dwell on the old DB concept of the protagonists being outclassed. But this time, they are COMPLETELY outclassed. Not even a contestation. Not even for debate. They're out of their league and they don't know it yet.

To make a long story short, Jiren propels the contestant off stage with the mere shockwave of his fist.
We are in the beginning of 2018 at this point. The love for him has not yet risen, due to obvious reasons. There are some rare cases of artists and writers alike already mentioning this character's virtues, as they start to unravel before the audience.
Fan art starts to be pumped out. Fans start being born. Even people who don't like his design are already entranced at the possibilities the utter mystery of his disposition and narrative portrays.
We would not hear of his exploits until further down the road, after the minor secondary characters expose their contributions. We would see him defeating a Legendary Super Saiyan, who just face-tanked a SSB Kamehameha to the face– while giving a nod to the old Broly movie–while being unscathed.
You heard it right. This man, on his heavily suppressed state, just LITERALLY one-shot a rampaging LSS berseker. This saiyan had to be saved from an inevitable ring-out by one of his teammates.
This is the first fact that would be relevant down the road, where another Legendary Super Saiyan, comparable in strength with the aforementioned one, would be introduced, albeit completely overshadowed by previous events; marking the initial mental blow for his fans.

Finished the game 3 times. 2 of those was completing the map 100%. Meaning all bosses dead including all catacombs.
Jiren's GoD finally pleads him through a telepathic link to take action. To crush the most troublesome contestant in the arena so far, the villain Goku. Jiren's amazing voice actor lets out a "I understand". This adherence to the GoD's command stems, not out of fear or obedience, but out of respect for a friend.
Quite literally everyone is expectant of this fight. This is the two episode special Toei announced. Two episodes in one week. That is how colossal this moment in the series is.
The fabled and thoroughly anticipated moment. Goku vs Jiren. The world is on watch. Streaming sites are crashing. Records in profits are being obliterated.
Here's a synopsis.

After a flurry of punches, Goku sees Jiren frown his brow, at which moment he realizes he's wasting Jiren's time.
This is where the Grey man's feats start to shine. After Goku goes SSB and starts fighting him, Jiren brings the saiyan to prostration in less than a minute even after he tried SSBKK on him. Steps on him quite like he would on a odorous turd and almost one-shots him out of the arena. The kissless protagonist charges at him with SSBKKx20 and almost dies with, quite literally, just a glare from Jiren the Gray.
Afterwards, Goku relinquishes his SSB power in order to create his Spirit Bomb. Jiren's intricate characterization allows him to avow a disclaimer to the lesser life form in front of him. He will wait until his petty technique is complete, so he can hurl him at full force and be met with utter disappointment and despair.
Jiren seeks not to immediately and swiftly deal with his opponents. That would be pointless, as it would not only do for a bad denouement for the audience (the main goal of the series itself), but it would also mean that their opponents would not even have a chance to experience the equivocal nature of their philosophies.
In his own way, Jiren seeks to convey his beliefs to his detractors by having them clash head on against absolute strength, and fall on their KNEES at the realization that the only thing that matters is exactly what just thwarted them.
This absolute strength Jiren is adamant upon, and as of yet has not vocalized, is the pillar of his character and philosophy. He vehemently believes that strength and strength alone is the driving force upon one can effectively rely on. If you are weak, you cannot enforce your will at all. And all you've trusted and relied upon until the moment you failed to exert your power will perish.

The energy of all of the strongest warriors in U7 is effectively condensed into a single attack. This is quite the metaphor for "last ditch effort". If all of the warriors attacked this man at once, it would be the decisive factor. The outcome of this attack would decide everything.
Guess what, little b***h. It failed. It was a complete and utter failure. This completed spirit bomb, even when enforced and pushed on by a SSBKKx20 just felt short. It clashed against the most blatant feat of power depicted yet. It stopped dead in its tracks and was actually launched back to the saiyan villain with but a mere GLARE of this gargantuan personification of indomitable power and inexorable will.
The Spirit Bomb imploded into a temporal singularity, seemingly killing the villain.
Justice was done. The treacherous universe 7 started weeping at their antithesis of a hero's apparent demise. Jiren, despite the crassness and repulsiveness of his opponent, closes his eyes and bows his head in a heart-warming sign of respect. His strength was definitely worth respecting. Few mortals had ever reached this level before.
And now we arrive in what, for many, is the best moment in the 30 years of this series' life. The first fight of Jiren vs UI Omen. The very moment where the mold for story structure and development was shattered.
So far it followed something akin to:

>protagonist train
>they struggle, but the villain is winning
>new hyped form emerges
>the villain gets utterly and irrevocably BTFO
It happened quite like that in a orderly manner, EXCEPT for the last point. Jiren did not care. He did NOT even bat an eye. He remained stoic, stalwart, unimpressed. He has definitely witnessed this level of power before, and perhaps even more. Everyone but HIM was utterly dumbfounded.
This is what made the masses start loving this mold-breaking, stunning character.
The treacherous psychopath Goku raises from the dead with a brand new power up. The fabled and foreshadowed Ultra Instinct. An angelic technique not even GoDs after hundreds of millions of years could attain. The protagonist's lack of higher cognitive abilities facilitates this achievement greatly, as it requires a deep absence of thought in order to achieve it.
This new state of mind is so flashy and elusive that quite literally everyone is discombobulated at the sight of it. It's movements are unreal. Exceedingly fast as it lunges forward to strike the Grey Pillar.
This is the moment where he shines, where Jiren stands out. Every other antagonist would have died here. It would have been their demise. But not him, not Jiren the Chad. This admirable personification of solidity simply fights back, countering and dodging every move. At this point the frame rate of the series is simply unable to depict the fights as they happen.
Toei shines at their job as usual. Presenting this fight in a fantastic and flashy manner. Mogging every other animation company in existence.
BOOM is the sound heard as Goku's final effort clashes against Jiren's oversized hand. "This heat is your limit, little b***h" as he proceeds to literally one-shot Goku out of the arena. This would have been it for U7 if Hit didn't intercede and save Goku.
Even writing itself starts to succumb to Jiren at this point, where Hit is unable to strike Jiren. At this moment it is stated that Jiren doesn't have any openings. This is utterly ignored later on in the series for the sake of virtue signaling and appeal to the audience. One could argue that this is simply due to Jiren's progressively deteriorating stamina, but that can be deigned as headcanon.
Probably like 200? Beaten it three times vanilla, once on reforged, once using the early build of another overhaul mod, and 3 randomizers. Pretty shit game mechanically tbh. Reforged made it a lot better, but just playing sekiro wins.
We can see what happens to anyone without plot armor who dares to face Jiren. Hit is the perfect example. He was dealt with swiftly and mercilessly. Ringed out after a couple of blows. The blinding contrast can be denoted when Jiren has the base saiyans beaten and barely conscious at his feet. He just toys with them instead of ringing them out.
This is when the nuances and the endless possibilities for philosophical debate begin. One can argue that this is just because the looming impossibility of U7 to lose, which is a completely valid point. One can also object that Jiren is merely testing the limits and motivations of this seemingly alien philosophy to him. Where do they get their insane motivation? They are powerless against him and they know it, yet they continue to fight. Are they mentally ill? Are they in shock? And so he keeps pushing them in order to find out.
Truly a Shakespearean character indeed.
From now on, the peerless feats of this character just keep piling up. With each passing episode, he keeps surprising and enthralling the audience with his deep one-liners delivered by a 11/10 voice actor. His aura is captivating and gorgeous.
Characters throw themselves at him in a 3 to 1 handicap, and this man just brushes them off like there are, as himself said "impudent gnats". Mere insects, in layman terms, for the linguistically stunted out there.
This is where his sympathizers get their main arsenal. These unprecedented feats will remain relevant for years to come. As this character will NOT be surpassed anytime soon. For example one-shotting 3 GoD-tier opponents with a mere burst of his aura alone. Incredible, isn't it?

I think that From doesn't really have a talent for open world because it clashes with their no quest log(I don't mean markers, just journal) or easily missable quests/npcs. It is one thing to have it in cohesive, medium length game where it is hard to miss it if you explore and other to have systems in this way in grand open world where it is like finding needle in the haystack

After you're finished with Limgrave you have seen just about everything the game has to offer in terms of open world content - churches, minor erdtrees, caves, catacombs etc are then just repeated ad nauseum with the exact same structure throughout the remaining zones with minimal variations. How can someone defend this kind of game design is beyond me.

why do hosts compulsively chase invaders into mob zones? Me and my bro do about 6 hours of co op per weekend, and because none of our builds are oriented towards PvP, we never ever engage invaders except on open ground of our choosing. This means we rarely lose or the invader alt+f4's out of frustration.

It wasn't even borked the first run. The game was just so uberpopular that hosts were dying before you could summon into their game. Either by invasion or by enemies.
They didn't have the near/far search option when the game launched. That came out later on.
One thing about invading is that its never supposed to be fair. It wasn't in any DS games, it wasn't in bloodborne either. You go in knowing you're at a disadvantage, and your victory is all the more triumphant for it. Since launch they added near/far searching for invasions and coop and it works great. You can play through the whole game and fixed levels/ weapon upgrade levels and you can get steady coop. The game's died down a little because of no DLC news, but a few months ago I was getting consistent summons at level 20/ +3 weapons in Limgrave. Back to back coop with Margit, Godrick, Black Knife, you name it.
The arena is fine. A good number of players are active on all platforms, there are lots of youtubers who do arena vids and streams too. I don't go in the arena anymore, but random 3v3s and free for alls were fun as frick, if not annoying because of certain spells like waves of gold.
I haven't touched it since near release. my issues with MP were extremely limited range for co-op and invading was pretty gimped due to the 3v1 nature with no upside for the invader.
I had tons of fun helping people with bosses as I always do but I didn't get to do nearly as much help TO bosses as I would have liked.
I've heard nothing about the arena mode either. big gay or fun time?
They made it so you can go into someone's game from anywhere now so you can get ganked by 3 people all over the map now.
Arena mode at launch was great.
Free for all arena was some of the most insane bullshit.
2v2 was either sweatlords, or people just fricking around. 1v1 was consistently awful at every level range, I didn't enjoy it but I can see why some people do.
The map wide co-op signs and invasions was easily one of the best and worst additions.

what hosts and blues usually fail to remember is that invaders know the level like their own dick. Just don't play their games, fight only on level ground of your choosing. Even a shitter invader will usually lose under those conditions.
A lot of hosts live in where they're hosting just for PVP, if it was a casual host then yeah, your point works but not at meta and higher most of the time.
Most people want to play the game instead of just sitting around and understand that even with mobs they can still just annihilate the invader with a single stun > rape blender
