How would you make his game?

Weird how this guy never got a licensed video game considering he was at peak popularity back when literally everything was getting a licensed game.

Anyway how would you make an Ernest game if given the license?
Genre, graphics, gameplay etc.

Funny point and click adventure game with slapstick based combat.

Why was Ernest goes to camp the only good one? Did they slash the budget? Even as a kid the others felt weird and cheap.

The point and click genre would blend very well with the vern bit. Im thinking something like that pacman snes game
He'd always be able to turn toward the player to address vern, and vern could interact mildly and indirectly like the commercials.

Ernest Saves Christmas is a holiday classic.

Incredibly, Camp works best because there's the least amount of Ernest in it. That's probably the secret. With each subsequent movie less and less attention was paid towards the supporting cast, not just in attention but in the pathos of their sub-plots. Granted, Ernest's antics were funny enough to still carry things up through Scared Stupid, but afterwards the foundation was just too flimsy and Flanderization was rampant.

This plays a big part into how I feel. Having all of the other characters made it feel more "legit" and alive. It's been years since I've watched them but I remember the camera basically always being on ernest alone in the frame or maybe ernest goofing off with some irrelevant one off character. The best way I can describe it is it just feels like a cheap nostalgia critic episode or something.

I liked Ernest Goes to Jail as much as Camp.

Definitely need some off the wall car chase. And Ernest should have a running narrative talking to himself/the audience the whole game. Lots of disguises and costume changes.

If it actually existed it'd probably be Ernest Goes to Cyberspace and be an asset flip of the Home Improvement game.

    Ernest Goes to Space
Ernest is tasked as a lifeguard at the local beach and takes his new duty extremely seriously.
An alien invasion and people going missing all happens in the background of the story while Ernest is completely oblivious.
Objectives are all unrelated to the alien invasion but Ernests shenanigans constantly interrupts the aliens plans.

Ends with Ernest using excessive amounts of fireworks on a 4th of july to impress some sweetheart he meets during his lifeguard duty.
    Blows up the alien spaceship.

That's the problem with the young ones these days. No respect for the rules, and no respect for their elders.
