Pretty sure Itsuno already said he's done with DMC. He's retiring after he finishes Dragon's Dogma.
If that's true then its over. You can expect another DMC2.
He said the sons of sparda are done. So in other words it will be a Nero only game or more likely another whack at DmC:DMC or some other reboot.
That's a massive frick up. It would be like a Toadstool only Mario game. Or Street Fighter without Ryu and Ken. If they're going to retire Dante and Virgil they should just stop.
Yeah it is dumb too but that seems to be where his interest is now. Maybe the company can convince him to roll back on that like how Toriyama wanted Gohan to take over. But like other anons said he also sounds like V was his last hurrah anyway and it is more he tried hard to make whoever takes over follow the Nero plan. Who knows how it will all go though.
Itsuno isn't coming back to DMC. Capcom released a report at the end of 2019 that stated they were looking to hand the series over to fresh young talent. Itsuno is going to finish Dragon's Dogma and retire.
Considering how often they used Vergil to sell DMC5 I seriously doubt Capcom will let that happen. They pulled the mother of all asspulls to bring him back into the series. Nero-hype can't carry the series, that's why they had to fake leak Vergil at the beginning of promotions. They jumped to number one the minute people saw him.
DMC5 was very successful. Dante and Virgil are not going anywhere. No one gives a shit about the game's tutorial character. Literally everyone just slogs through the parts you play Nero waiting to be able to play Dante and Virgil.
He said the arc is done. The story was closer to DMC3.
Anon Dante clearly states that because Nero is now DT’d the human world has no need for the brothers anymore. It isn’t any clearer instruction than that.
That would count for Nero as well. He's the grandSON of Sparda
