I have one and it's not really worth the price. It's a nice signal yeah, but you can get 95% the same result with a Wii, with the added benefit of the 30% performance boost every game gets.
I use the prism cable. Reviews seem to think its just as good outside some potential audio issues which can be resolved by just using the audio from the composite port.
I bought a couple D Terminal GC cables years ago for cheap with an adapter, not sure if that's still an option for you. I recommend that if it's cheaper. Or just use what recommended. Honestly don't overspend on this stuff.

This.
People keep ignoring the chink clones because of spastic madeup reasons.
I also got a rad2x clone for my genesis for $25 or so there as well, while the official retrotink product has been sold out since forever and they were charging 3x as much even when in stock. >But muh quality control!
Nah, it works the same if you know what and where to buy
True and I don't understand why carby is shilled so hard. They didn't design ANY of this shit any more than the Chinese did. They just make the same thing less efficiently and therefore much more expensive
Because as is tradition, b***h ass Nintendo fricked up the video output of yet another console by trying to make proprietary cables. Its a god damn analogue signal and they required a Digital to Analog converter
They put the DAC in the cable because they were cheaping out on the console by not putting it in by default. You can also mod the cable to output VGA IIRC, IDK why they didn't put in that ability by default
Contains proprietary technology so there weren't any off-brand versions when they were relevant, and they were discontinued quickly because Nintendo decided to remove its port on later GCN models.
Very limited ones exist because:
-Most people did not have a TV at the time that could use it
-Not everyone who did have such a TV cared to buy it
-It was a mail-order item and IIRC not sold in stores so even those who did have a compatible TV and would want one didn't know it existed
-It was discontinued during the console's lifespan when the port was completely removed from later GC models
Why it's expensive because:
-The GC didn't natively output analog RGB/Component, it output some sort of proprietary digital signal and the cables had a chip in them to convert said signal to component
-Due to the very limited quantities of the cables and the chip for many years not being cloned it meant these were the only way for a long time to get anything better than composite out of a GC
Why it's STILL expensive because:
-Idiots. There are now both plug-in and permanently soldered options for HDMI output. If you for some reason still want to use CRT with component on a 6th gen console that is long past the era of consoles intentionally taking advantage of RF/composite on CRT's effects, there are cheap 3rd party cables now which have cloned the chip. There is zero reason to pay exorbitant prices for these anymore, those still trying are people who still held onto a cable when it was the only way to get anything above composite out of a GC and refuse to accept the ride is over for their unsold item.
Also, just use a Wii, that console DOES natively output a composite signal so the cables are much cheaper, and far more people bought them as many more had a compatible TV at the time and the cables were sold in stores. It's not software emulation like every other console's BC. The Wii is basically an upgraded GameCube, not too different different than how you can still run the same software on your PC after upgrading the CPU and GPU of a modern PC, the games are running as natively as they did on the GC. The only thing the Wii lacks is support for the GBA player.
It uses a proprietary chip in the end of the cable that hasn't been cloned yet.
I believe Insurrection Industries made a good quality knockoff, but I don't think that's in production any more
It was mail order only and less than 1% of users purchased one.
It's been cloned for years now.
Then why is it still so expensive?
Because gays need le heckin OEM cable
youtube, bandwagoners, the list goes on.
>hasn't been cloned yet
literally moronic
t. moron who buys these things
Because it was a limited item and there aren't that many around.
>$200
I wish I'd buy at that price. They are like $350

GameCube HDMI adapters are better and much cheaper.
My CRT which is where gamecube is meant to be played doesn't have hdmi
connect the input to hdmi converter, connect it to an hdmi to av converter, and then use that
the gamecube is very popular among transexuals
You don't need it. There's HDMI converters that go for $79.

This.

these are completely different products

We've told you a billion times, just play your GC games on a Wii. Much cheaper and a Wii can do way more shit in general
it says nintendo gamecube on it
Typical Nintendo shit.

Using the Wii you can actually run GC games at better performance than on GC.
