I fricking love the underground cave missions of WC3 where you're just given a small team and you have to survive to the end (with side quests preferably.) Any other games that do this well, either as a part of it or the whole game?

I should have added I'd prefer fantasy (possibly scifi) so this looks perfect. Thanks, holy shit that was quick.

Dont bother with myth 1, get Myth 2 and the look for Fallen Levels. It's Myth 1 campaign converted for myth 2. Dont forget to install latest patch, the game is still being updated.

Is it worth getting the remake to play through the campaign again? I've been contemplating it while that Blizzard sale has been on.

I got it for the sale and I'm fricking loving it
I didn't have the old one so the reasons people hate it dont really apply to me tho

Why not just pirate the old version?

      its newer therefore better, naturally

I was shitting on the blocky graphics of the original since the beginning, but the remake is so much worse.
It is insulting, because the original had technical limitations that they worked around, while the new one looks bad just because they suck.

what is that supposed to mean
remake follows the same art direction but does it significantly worse because its done by a bunch of outsourced amateurs.

          Anonymous

          wrong
remake doesn't follow at all the same art direction and looks worse because Blizzard interns never completed the tech to make the models look good in game as they should have
Lemon Sky is actually a talented studio and its 100% blizzards fault

      >the old one's elf guy portrait is way more expressive
This is actually insane to me. You couldn't even spare a few extra crumbs of animation? At least they zoomed into the priestess' face

      [...]
I've learnt not to trust people that save webms of things they don't like. They tend to really tunnel vision and obsess over things that don't matter all that much to me.

      >I've learnt not to trust my eyes
Kek, but seriously. It's all these little things put together that make up a great whole. It doesn't matter that the new one's elf portrait is way less expressive. It doesn't matter that they didn't really bother polishing the campaign. It doesn't really matter all the other questionable design decisions they did.
The problem is all these "doesn't matters" make the whole game itself matter less, especially to the old players who can sense it.
It's not really a problem for someone like you who'll play this for a few hours at best and then never again.
Hope this helps you understand things a bit better.

DoW2 campaign is basically a diablo but with 4 units contrary to its multi where it's a tactics games and to action game style last stand mode. You should enjoy campaign. Entire campaign main strategy and plot is to survive until reinforcements arrive

Bfme1 missions keep switching between rts where you command armies and build bases to this more rpg like missions where you only control few heroes. So sometimes you control Eomer and Faramir in their full blown battles and sometimes you are microing fellowship of the ring. And there is evil campaign too. Campaign is REALLY good in bfme1. I just wish it started earlier and not in Moria. Age of the Ring has its own campaign too and it includes Last Alliance battle and later running away from Nazguls as Frodo and Sam

War of the Ring is not so great. BFME1 and 2 are fantastic and you should play them.

I remembered it like this too, but then anons convinced me it's actually an RTT where you hire disposable troops.

        Anonymous

the troops are disposable once, they are technically "characters" and once they are dead they are dead. You have a small 3 man team for most or the entire game that you manage funds and inventory for but anybody extra is a extra unit you can "hire" ie they join your team for 1 mission then have to sit out the next mission you do before you can get them again.

          Anonymous

So they lied and it's not actually a tactics game.

            Anonymous

it's a real time game on a grid, however attack speed for everything is quite fast and isn't until the latter half of the game where the rpg elements allow you to just raw dog everything with giant stats. proper engagement matters a lot as you are not allowed to have any of your main 3 characters die for any reason.
