I guess people like to wave their hands around casting magic, than playing the SUPERIOR FIGHTER class.

cleric and bard are my favorites.
MONK.
GODS.
Maybe locking the most useful dialogue choices for role playing purposes behind a stat wasn't a good idea.
yeah, I started as Paladin, and there's a ton of dialogue between Paladin choices and Charisma related options. Probably going to play some sort of fighter later, and I'm not looking forward to relying on my companions more. wouldn't be so bad if I could have them jump into a conversation for certain checks
Oh no, charisma makes you good at dealing with people, who would've thought?!
And makes you good with the strongest combat classes in the game (and warlock). But obviously you think that's perfectly reasonable game balance.
>4 CHA casters
>1 INT caster
5e is moronic.
The two most popular subclasses that gain spells when the class doesn't normally have them, Eldritch Knight, Arcane Trickster, both use Int and use the wizard spell list.
Arcane trickster and Eldritch Knight get frick all for spell slots. They get less than half casters like Paladin. Also no one with a brain raises rogue past 3 or 4 (for feat).
these classes all look boring
You don't need high charisma to have fun in dialogues. My barb does all the talking and he does fail to negotiate sometimes but it's more fun and risky that way.
WotOH Monk or bust
I felt blackballed into playing Paladin because mandatory face rolls you have to take with the PC and because I've never liked Bard.
I think in hindsight should've just done a light domain cleric.
Being a Paladin in the actual tabletop fricking sucks, at least in the video games you can actually do things without constantly rolling to see if you fell from grace for not giving a coked out beggar more drug money
Hey be fair that beggar clearly needs to be blitzed far more than any paladin needs anything.
>start paladin
>women in cage
>"shoot her down and let me handle her"
>think it's like they get her down and then frick off
>no i have to kill them
>OATHBREAKER
peace is now optional
Anon your literacy may be shitty. You offered to kill her with them.
>start paladin
>woman in cage
>about to be murdered by a bunch of devils
>no option where I tell them to frick off or die
>attack them
>oathbreaker
i just leave her in the cage shes a c**t and left you for dead on the beach
A paladin serves his oath, not himself.
Can I swear an oath to my wiener?
Yes, just believe hard enough and you can Smite things with your divine rod.
My wiener tells me green gith pussy needs punishment
You just know those stats are fake when Warlock, Rogue and Barbarian are more popular than regular Fighter.
Warlock and barbarian are better than fighter. Full stop. Rogue got picked by people who wanted to be dickass thieves and steal shit.
>guess people like to wave their hands around casting magic,
And they don't even do that well based on the chart. Wizard-chads where you at!
Right here!
What’s the point of trickery/knowledge/light cleric
Feels like you’re just playing wizard but worse
Cleric is decent at their role even without subclasses, the added spells just add more flavor and party comp options. For example, Light and Tempest can let your cleric act as a substitute Wizard when you need extra AoE rather than healing or buffs. Would I replace my wizard with a cleric? No, at least not until level 6 when you can do 5 cleric 1 wizard and give them haste.
Paladin/Cleric master race reporting in
I don't understand why Sorc is 2nd. You're literally playing Wizard for idiots.
>b-but I can cast a few spells very well and more often
Yeah have fun with that losers *casts jump+feather fall+misty step and launches away
I wish wizard had a wild magic equivalent
t. New to the series
Yeah Wiz's don't work like that. You mostly just pick what school of magic you want to specialize in. Sorcs get the goofy options.
That's called a druid
No it's not, you fricking idiot.
Old D&D rules have that ones, pretty fun to play with Wild Magic
Fighter is boring to play in these games. Casters get all sorts of utility and different elemental damage types and fighters just walk up to an enemy and hope for a good attack roll. Shits dull
yeah no shit, that's how it works in everygame. that's why you multiclass
Ok but OP didn't talk about multiclassing he just wondered why people choose casters over fighters and that has a simple answer
thats what i get for not reading OP
I just went ranger because everything else is so cliche and played out now.
amazing how times change, id of thought everyone would still be making elf rangers named legolas using a long bow and dual wielding scimitars
What's the point of having magic if you have to constantly "save it" in case you need it later, sine you can only cast spells like 1-3 times before having to long rest? God, D&D is such dogshit. DOS2 system mogs it so hard it's not even funny.
get good
just use cantrips bro, 5e gives them infinite ammo
You can use the "slaps ur gf's ass from 30 feet away" spell as much as you want
>as much as you want
Once per short rest for mage hand.
Lies.
if it gets unsummoned or destroyed you cant recast it, you haven't played the game
they did this because the ai is braindead even on the highest difficulty, they will prioritize killing you mage hand instead of the guy shooting fireballs at them if you could just recast it every turn the ai would be a vegetable
Feels like Arcane Trickster should have gotten unlimited casts, their hand is invisible anyway, and mage hand us their whole gimmick.
The style of magic doesn't carry across to video games, unfrotunately
In actual D&D, most DMs give items or abilities to use more short rests for the spellcasters
Unfortunately this is just a 'tactics' game
>In actual D&D, most DMs give items or abilities to use more short rests for the spellcasters
No the frick I don't. I also interrupt long rests all the time. No you won't be taking an 8 hour break in the middle of my dungeon so you can one shot the boss. You should have no wasted so many fireballs on fodder.
>she lets her caster players pick fireball
Do you also tell your martial classes they have two options 'attack and block'?
I don't tell my players how to play unless they ask. But I will kill them for making stupid choices.
Woks on my machine, are you sure you aren't getting it from an item?
>Woks on my machine
You haven't played the game.
I just tested this. I definitely have as I have posted the gnome wizard in this thread that I just used to test this. I've never ran into a situation where Mage Hand is more useful to open shit then Astarion so why the frick use it and if you do what does it do in combat that a familiar or spectral weapon doesn't already do?
>I just tested this.
You aren't special, and your copy of the game isn't special, either. You're just a diamond dozen liar fishing for (you)s that got caught.
they did a real moron moment with the long rests
there are quests you can miss if you long rest before even knowing they exist
you also spend resources to long rest
it should have just been the second one, and the economy should have been harsher as it is your highly encouraged to never rest if you want to see the quests on offer wich means you cant cast any of the fun spells
>Intelligence builds in RPGs ironically require very little intelligence to play
>Melee builds are always high IQ
Very ironic
>waves hands menacingly in your path
Nothing personnel, kiddo.
How's druid? Is shapeshift fun?
moondruids go from god tier to shit tier to good tier
Druid is pretty busted, shapshift is a separate lifebar and you can multiclass into barbarian to buff your forms with rage.
Fighter is fricking insane with gear, and this game gives you quite a bit of it. On Lae'zel I've got:
>get guarateed crit once per day so long as you kill something
>crits paralyze
All you need is haste or a potion of speed on top of this, and you basically get to decide something DIES once per day.
>walk around the woods a bit
>find enchanted gear in a bucket
wow so exciting and engaging
Never played D & D huh kid?
no i play good ttrpgs
Name some.
coc
warhammer fantasy
literally anything other than dnd
>coc
Opinion discarded
>sit on stool
>characters strength gets buffed to 23
>wtf
>toss stool to see if there's a rune or something underneath
>stool breaks
>acquire club of hill giants from one of the legs which boosts strength to 15 when held
i dont believe this is in the game, and even if it is why would i ever sit down other than to take a gay screenshot to jerk off to and post on twitter
>why would i ever sit down.
If you sit down after pickpocketing, then you become invisible to NPC's searching for you.
why would i pickpocket? i can just pick up everything i see and send it to my camp for infinite carry space, then sell it for some cash, incuding rotting fish
but there is basically nothing worth buying anyways
>why would i pickpocket?
Free shit, duh
>steal all of a merchant's high value items
>sell them back for cash
>steal remaining cash when it's low enough
>steal all high value items again
charisma casters are the most busted classes in actual 5E and the devs not only made it so none of the party members have these classes, they made this another "charisma is how you unlock all the scenes in the game" style wrpg so charisma gives you both combat power and story power
>devs not only made it so none of the party members have these classes,
errrmmmm you forgot about wyll
that list is pretty accurate for class power and ease of play
I was really suprised that larian fixed rangers from the laughably bad 5th edition to the point where they could almost win most engagements single handed.
D&D attribute system was always shit
I do not approve of this absolutely massive disparity between Paladins and Clerics.
