If you don't play with an N64 controller you're not truly experiencing the game
This is why I haven't played it yet. I have occasionally enjoyed emulation but it just feels wrong. The transitory nature of hardware is a serious and unique weakness of games as a medium.
buy the nso controllers, they're faithful replicas
The joystick housing and connector isn't the same, so you can only replace it with another NSO controller. The best thing to do is get an original controller and the 8bitdo wireless PCB (they call it a modkit but it's a replacemant PCB). They have a hall effect joystick, too, but I prefer the feel of the original. Just get an Old Skool Sharpshooter stick if the original one is loose. They are the best 3rd party sticks imo.

It's close *enough*. They're not the exact same internally, but they feel just like the real thing honestly.
True, but the issue is longevity, not the feel. The N64 joystick mechanism is shit and even with grease you still have to replace it. May as well get something with tons of aftermarket support.
The cowards at Nintendo will never add this masterpiece to Switch Online.

This was probably the best party baseball game if you played it like EGM once suggested: You and your bros create their own characters for teams, and once their character is up, they get the controller. Also encourage everyone to create a new backstory for the team/players, preferably drunk/high. One matchup from middle school was our hideous short all-Latino Angels team of violent rapists against the Brown Sox (formerly White Sox) who all have violent diarrhea and propel it at rocket-speeds for speed boosts, and have shit-related shit-talking
It also helps that it isn't an autistic baseball game like High Heat and other bullshit like that, and is actually fun to play, although the character creator could easily suck away an hour or two. I just saw the devs are the guys who did Midnight Club, that's cool
probably conkers bad fur day, it's odd because it shouldn't even be in the top 10 games for the n64 but something about it, the humor, the juxtaposition of cutesy bees then breasts and booze and vomiting and shitting. I'm looking into it far too hard but that along with the ending really has stayed with me all of my life. "Gone...gone...gone."
