I miss portable handhelds, there really isn’t anything “portable” anymore, take a look at the switch and the steam deck, no fricking way I’m lugging those big ass frickers around, I just want something that would fit in my pocket again like the DS, GBA SP and PSP or whatever, even to this day I lug around my GBA SP with me, I like to play a bit of the old yu gi oh games when I have to wait for something or whatever, it’s such a perfect handheld, it barely occupies any pocket space and the screen is decent, I also like the ds and I feel the same way about the psp

>Do you guys not have phones?
Meh, I like buttons better I guess and I don’t like going on social media, it always pisses me off in some way or another
you can tongue your phone, think about it.
get old phone and controller and put million games there
Too bulky
smaller than fricking psp or ds mother fricker.
why do you cry about a thing if nothing is good enough???? get fricking evercade exp then.
i know you're gonna just cry that noooo it doesn't have umm nintendo logo on it so it's not good enough or some stupid ass excuse.
you don't want a fricking handheld. you just want to be kid again. fricking nostlagia ass piece of shit cry baby
OP says he already carries around an SP. He clearly wants a new modern handheld that gets current gen games but is also pocketable.
>smaller than a fricking psp or ds mother fricker.
???
If this can make phone call and have chat stuff like instagram, discord and whatsapp to talk with my friends I would be all set, just a bit embarrassing using it tough
Based, frick trannies, just carrying a gamepad and a phone clip is unironically smaller than my PSP case (Not even going to count carrying ass power adapters/games/etc.). It really is that shrimple. I a friend bought one of the telescopic gamesir controllers and it works really good as well.
>muh bulk
Said by the atuists with tiny baby hands wanting to cradle a piece of shit rectangular piece of plastic that's ass to hold for more than 30 minuites.
You mean something like a phone that has an actually big screen, very efficient hardware and an extremely long battery life? That you can attach a small controller to that has a modern amount of buttons? That can be fed power from almost any power source in the world with a mostly universal cable? That can be hooked up to a TV using a simple cable with minimal fussing about? That is a fricking pocketable powerful computer equivelent to a laptop from ~10ish years ago?
>using a case with the psp
homosexual
checked
also phone with grip is too big, my phone is is already bigger then my vita without anything on it
I like my micro, pairing it with a flash cart was a great idea.
I'd like a Switch model that looks something like picrel, with preferably a 5" or at most a 5.5" screen.
Literally just get an old gameboy and mod it
The Retroid Pocket 4 Pro is around the size of a vita and can play PS2 stuff from what I've heard.
It is one of the smaller modern handhelds, it can also play GameCube and Wii comfortably.
The bigger issue is that they just don't make games small enough for small handhelds anymore. Those days are over and never coming back.
>The bigger issue is that they just don't make games small enough for small handhelds anymore.
I think you can get away with 99% of Switch games on a 5" screen. A Switch roughly the size of a Retroid Pocket Flip could work well.
It's not screensize, it's the hardware the handheld needs to run games. Games on the gameboy were pretty much just 8 or 16 bit and very light on the hardware it needed, which allowed the handheld to likewise be kept small. Handheld games today are much more ambitious, so the handhelds got larger. They're full games, not something you can just frick around with for a few minutes.
>It's not screensize, it's the hardware the handheld needs to run games.
Switch hardware is 9 years old, it would not be hard to make a smaller Switch. That pick I posted of the Retroid Pocket Flip, more powerful than a Switch.
ds lite is the perfect machine and im tired of pretending its not
Can’t sony just try again with the xperia game phones but with ps3/ps4ish levels of power?
Demon’s souls and katamari forever on the go would be pretty cool, I know the switch has damacy but the switch is pretty cover some to carry around because of the joysticks and how long it is
If you're not some kind of skinny weirdo, the switch or Steam Deck are portable. Yep I wear 4xl pants and either fit in my pockets. Life is good.
Honestly, my only complaint right now is Mcdonald's burgers are still too expensive.

Times are tough but her is a little pro tip to keep from starving to death in modern day America. Buy peanut butter, that way when you get your double Bic Mac super sized meal, you can throw it all in a blender with 1/3rd a jar of peanut butter and make it into a smoothie. This way you can cut back to only eating McD's 3 times a day.
I can take my Switch to places just fine, it's great for plane trips too.
And don't forget the necessary clamshell design.
let me guess, you need more?
chinchong shit will never be real consoles, buy an ad you zhangs
Don't care, still want Nintendo to make a Clamshell Switch.
They can play more Nintendo games that your overpriced turd, toddler.
>t.
What’s happening to chinkmeister here?
I don't understand the decision of transforming handhelds into mini computers. Too underpowered to deliver the PC experience but too big and battery drainy for a good portable experience. Buy a laptop or some shit if you want to play on your bed.
Same but tbh I don't give a shit about running modern 3D games on them. I miss regular releases of 2D pixel art DS-budget games.
I miss when there was an excuse to step a generation behind and watching the console arms race re-run itself. Nintendo DS gave me the same "Woah, it's 3D!" feeling as the PS1 gave me a decade before.
Handhelds started Big and ended Big.
It was the middle period 1998-2011 that was the exception.(1989 Og Gameboy was the exception and still is pretty Big compared to anything late 90s-00s)
I have a miyoo mini+ and it does give that handheld feeling back again. I've hands that can still fit in kids gloves so the size it perfect for me.
I've lugged my Deck across the planet, it's just fine. I guess I could see the appeal of making smaller models like the Switch Lite but I wouldn't use them.
I love playing Vitayo games on my PlayVita Vitable.
Phones are dogshit and ruined everything
I’m a shut in so my idea of portable gaming is being able to take my gaming experience to the toilet or the weed smoking room. For that my Rog Ally is perfect I love it. I have not played on anything else since I got it
Make your own with an rpi5. It'll run anything up to maybe ps2
