While I did enjoy Shadowbringers a fair amount and to me I think it was the last point of "good time to play FFXIV". The game has been on a decline in all the areas you mentioned and its resulting in a lack of soul. Peak XIV was release of HW. Game started going downhill around Stormblood post patches and Shadowbringers killed a lot of the complexity to combat and classes. Endwalker and pre endwalker patches bought in all the twitch streamers and zoomers. Game community has always had a problem with too much left wing which really grew in stormblood days to the point thats its snowflake central now.

I agree it really wasn't until ShB came with their new take on battle content that things became pretty boring from a class perspective. At least with SB you still had extra roles that classes could fill in to help the group e.g BLM's being good mana batteries. On the other hand there was a lot more class exclusion back then as well so.
I pugged Neo-ex and God kefka and legit saw very little class exclusion (usually what happened was some groups demanding NIN). It was more of a problem for ultimate, especially since that UCoB was the first ultimate and people were not used to this type of hardcore content.
I miss when quarterly events didn't take 10mins to finish and actually had effort put into them.

I did, but I never saw any dialog saying that. In fact there's dialog saying they're manning their own cannons. That would also not explain why the empire even has AA guns, why they never use them before, and why the Alliance can be manning them from deep within the empire's own lines.

The Garleans have anti-air guns because Ala Mhigo fielded griffin riders. The Ananta tribal quest explicitly details how they were famed for use as shock troops.
They've done that a few times though, like with CT. Worst case scenario they could have just ignored the Weapon storyline, like how Estinien 90% ignores the ARR DRG storyline.
The Crystal Tower series is the sole exception to them making side-content mandatory and it is hardly the silver bullet people seem to think it is when it comes to this argument. A level 50 Alliance Raid series being mandated is not comparable to them making the level 80 trials series required to do the MSQ.

At this point I think you just have to shrug and say it's fantasy. It's worth noting that the GCs are also stated to have airships; you use them in the SMN quest to go to the Fields of Glory, for example.

Yeah, but so far as we know they don't have any military airships. There are other explanations they could have used to explain it, like the addition of Ishgard which is very versed in fighting tough aerial threats, but they just never addressed it.

I believe it has something to do with the amount of people running content for the first time. For example, when I began doing shit like Ivalice raids for the first time several weeks ago (which was pure hell btw thanks to zoomers) a bunch of people commented on how it was a coon's age since they got this in their roulette. So if not a lot of people are specifically queueing up for that, it won't be a part of the daily roulette grind.

Honestly the last tier 24 mans after ARR take so fricking long (and I've done Orbonne so many times anyways) and the first HW 24 man sucks so much that I'd only be excited to see like, Puppet's Bunker at this point.
In general alliance roulette reflects one of the big problems with the daily roulette system, in that there's only 13 raids in there and it has yuge rewards while 50/60/70/80 roulette has 48 dungeons and is worthless shit you never run.

Honestly the only things I didn't like about the weapon quest was the fact that Diamond Weapon only had 1 real form. I was mostly lamenting the fact that it doomed Gaius to be stuck forever in side content when he's way more interesting as a MSQ character
Diamond Weapon questions unironically made me emotional.
It was bullshit though he went completely unused in EW. He should have been on the frontlines for the Garlemald storyline.
I think this would have required more writing than they ended up having time for. I'm sure if there had been a dedicated Garlemald expansion he'd have been there. I reckon he got added to Gundam plot as a convenient way of keeping him out of the way.

If you didn't like HW I would unironically recommend dropping the game, because I seriously doubt you'd like the rest of the game
, HW has some pacing issues and in general just isn't a very interesting premise. I went through the same, hated ARR, people said HW would be like the best shit ever, got severely disappointed when it was only a bit better than ARR. It started getting good around 3.2/.3.3 though and from them onwards (aside from the first half of SB) everything was smooth sailing and I was legitemately invested in the story.
Honestly, HW gets fellated too much by the community. Finally getting to Ishgard is cool, and adventuring with your bros through Dravania is peak comfy but it's not uh-maze-ing. Not to mention everything is annoyingly padded out (recipes, maps with shitty aetheryte locations, etc).
I hope one day the community will be able to gage the strengths and failings of HW and SB more fairly.
The only time I've ever gotten queue times longer than 10-15 minutes as DPS is if I'm manually queuing for HW or SB alliance raids after 10 PM Pacific.

The story isn't bad, although I guess I kind of expected more from what was supposed to be the final ultimate enemy. The gameplay is definitely lacking.
So far Endwalker looks to have more content than previous expansions. More and better content since PVP is finally good, and I love doing solo deep dungeons.
Expacs get more content each time, ask somebody complaining we have less content whether Stormblood or Shadowbringers had more dungeons and raids. It's Shadowbringers, dungeon count was the same and Bozja had an exclusive alliance-raid series

Were able to get special hard mode choose your adventure dungeons in 6.2, 6.4 and 6.5. In 6.2 we also get Island Sanctuaries which appear to be improved long term Doman Restoration style custom content. In 6.3 we finally get another DD and another Ultimate. None of this rules out possible Eureka style content either.

Historically they don't support these systems for longer than an expansion. I can see them adding content all the way up to .5 but I'll have to see to believe it if they continue after this expansion. I mean maybe they will they're adding more 'new' things in these patches than in previous expansions but I'm still not really convinced.
The problem is that the content is so backloaded to the latter half of the expansion. They should at least start the relic grind in the first major patch or something.

While I did enjoy Shadowbringers a fair amount and to me I think it was the last point of "good time to play FFXIV". The game has been on a decline in all the areas you mentioned and its resulting in a lack of soul. Peak XIV was release of HW. Game started going downhill around Stormblood post patches and Shadowbringers killed a lot of the complexity to combat and classes. Endwalker and pre endwalker patches bought in all the twitch streamers and zoomers. Game community has always had a problem with too much left wing which really grew in stormblood days to the point thats its snowflake central now.

The Alliance never develops any counter to this, and in 1.0 and ARR is militarily outmatched on the ground by a single legion, but come Ghymlit Dark they somehow match the combined might of supposedly multiple legions drawn from across the empire, all while the empire's ships do nothing but paradrop in troops for you to slaughter.
Let me ask you - Which side is firing all those AA guns in the background of the dungeon? The Alliance? When did they get that sort of technology? And how are they firing them from way behind the empire's lines? How do the Alliance's trenches work when the empire can just bomb them from above? How can the Alliance hold the line there when the empire could literally just fly over their entire force and turn Ala Mhigo to dust without ever having to fight them on the ground?

I did, but I never saw any dialog saying that. In fact there's dialog saying they're manning their own cannons. That would also not explain why the empire even has AA guns, why they never use them before, and why the Alliance can be manning them from deep within the empire's own lines.

i swear to god there are duties i haven't seen in over a year, it's always the same shit
I believe it has something to do with the amount of people running content for the first time. For example, when I began doing shit like Ivalice raids for the first time several weeks ago (which was pure hell btw thanks to zoomers) a bunch of people commented on how it was a coon's age since they got this in their roulette. So if not a lot of people are specifically queueing up for that, it won't be a part of the daily roulette grind.
Honestly the last tier 24 mans after ARR take so fricking long (and I've done Orbonne so many times anyways) and the first HW 24 man sucks so much that I'd only be excited to see like, Puppet's Bunker at this point.
In general alliance roulette reflects one of the big problems with the daily roulette system, in that there's only 13 raids in there and it has yuge rewards while 50/60/70/80 roulette has 48 dungeons and is worthless shit you never run.
The rewards are supposed to be proportionate to the amount of time it takes to run the content. So if, god forbid, you get shoved into Dun Scaith, you can say goodbye to an hour of your time, while most dungeons take less than 20 minutes to run.
The only good Alliance raids were the arr ones. Especially LotA.
Every alliance raid after ARR has too long boss fights.
Really the best thing for alliance roulette would be to rework the CT raids for 1 tank/5 DPS and unmoron the ilvl sync so you actually do the fights.

I went through the same, hated ARR, people said HW would be like the best shit ever, got severely disappointed when it was only a bit better than ARR. It started getting good around 3.2/.3.3 though and from them onwards (aside from the first half of SB) everything was smooth sailing and I was legitemately invested in the story.
Honestly, HW gets fellated too much by the community. Finally getting to Ishgard is cool, and adventuring with your bros through Dravania is peak comfy but it's not uh-maze-ing. Not to mention everything is annoyingly padded out (recipes, maps with shitty aetheryte locations, etc).
I hope one day the community will be able to gage the strengths and failings of HW and SB more fairly.

Were able to get special hard mode choose your adventure dungeons in 6.2, 6.4 and 6.5. In 6.2 we also get Island Sanctuaries which appear to be improved long term Doman Restoration style custom content. In 6.3 we finally get another DD and another Ultimate. None of this rules out possible Eureka style content either.
