Nah. But narrative ARPGs are dead.

There was once a time where you couldn't go wrong with a Bioware RPG. They used to be experts. Even their weaker offerings like Jade Empire had enough going for them that they were still very enjoyable worth playing through at least once.

Yeah, I've been meaning to play it recently and finally started it today. Even rewatched the original trilogy for the first time since I was a kid and also tried to force myself to rewatch the prequels to get in the mood. Frankly, though, I just don't think I can make myself give enough of a shit about Star Wars to play through these games.

KOTOR uses D&D style diceroll combat. Don't even bother if you have a typical zoomer attention span.

they ape the cool old kid stuff to signal legitimacy especially to other zoomers

Mass Effect 1 is a way better game than people give it credit. Before all the fan service and romance asari futa coomer bs, Mass Effect in 2007 was the next-gen sci-fi RPG everyone had been waiting for. It delivered on (almost) everything it set out to do. It's one of the greatest games of all time.

It's great on 1st playthrough but the weakness show on replay.

On the contrary ME2 is ok in first playthrough, but every replay is better. It's just insanely comfy thanks to it's character centred rather than story-driven design

Morrowind had some shit graphics if it was in the same era as Mass Effect.

Morrowind is barely 5 years older than Mass Effect. That's how quickly game graphics used to improve.

I just started up legendary edition yesterday, usually played as femshep but decided to try out Mark Meer.

I've already got up to rescuing liara. Bros... It's not just mediocre, he's straight up bad in comparison to the cast around him. Please tell me it gets better. I'm playing as renegade colonist ruthless for frick battarians run, but the renegade dialogue is REALLY bad compared to Hale's delivery of the same lines. Where femshep just seems stern and headstrong, male Shepard will autistically sperg put and start shouting in sudden tone whiplash moments because it's obvious they planned him out to be paragon majority of the time. I want to keep going but listening to it is a chore

2007 wasn't THAT long ago. It was barely over a decade ago. The internet has just sped up culture cycles so much it makes it seem like anything from the pre-smartphone era is the fricking stone age.

2007 was 15 years ago, Anon. It's from at least 3 entirely different eras of humanity ago.

ME1 is a complete chore to play. Don't feel bad about skipping side missions because they are all shit.

This. First playthrough I just did whatever the frick I want. Didn't care about optimizing equipment or exploring the galaxy. Great experience. Second playthrough I tried to do all the side missions in hopes of unlocking additional cutscenes or new game+ benefits. Big mistake.

The sad thing is those mako missions could be helped so much just with some bare minimum extra stuff on them like enemy checkpoints or something like that. Anything more then just whatever objective you have on top of collectathon bullshit. There's also never any reason to get out of the mako ever because the supposed super advanced geth's AT weapons fire rockets at the speed of a medicine ball thrown by a grandma with a hernia and can be defeated by having a child's understanding of how to hide a hull behind a hill

    The Internet killed "eras".
    These games are available today.
I understand where you're coming from, but I've realized that living in the past is an okay thing to do in 2022 because these games are more relevant now than they were back in the day.
