I really like platformers like Claw, Rayman, and Vinyl Goddess from Mars.

Let's talk about 2D platformer games that aren't the typical Nintendo and Sega stuff. Especially ones on the home computers. Especially if they are ones from the 90s that looked and played great.

    You mean western platformers?
I like M.C. Kids on NES, the PC ports are bad though.

I remember Jasper's Journeys, which I guess was a remake of a 97 DOS game, but the one I played came out in 2008. It was like Hocus Pocus, but I remember it had the aesthetics of those old games which made me feel like playing Hocus Pocus.

Do you like them because they're good games, or because nobody else does?

Who asks this kind of question? Yeah man, when I played rayman back then I had to foresight to think about the popularity it would get on /vr/ so I feigned fun .

Other people do like Claw and Rayman. They've both gotten plenty of fan levels.

I just want discussion about games that are not the typical popular discussed to death fare.

I played Claw, Vinyl Goddess from Mars, and Rayman because I liked them, not because I'm trying to be a hipster.

    >typical nintendo and sega stuff
that's the thing mario and sonic are actually pretty singular in utilizing momentum. I wish more big name series made use of it.

Yeah I really enjoyed late DOS/early Win 95 style platformers like that too. I loved Vinyl Goddess from Mars as a kid and I played Claw a bunch at a family friend's house. There's just something about the graphic/art style that just screams the era.

Does the “Pac-Man World” series count or is it too well-known?

I think OP just means western IPs that aren't too well known.
