It's a reasonable take. Some ultimates/unreals are so hard that if they were MSQ, they would hard-filter so many players. The amount of story/level skippers would skyrocket and you'd just have no one who knows how to play the game except the elite 10%.

To me, the difference between midcore and high-end is whether you need a static to clear it in a reasonable amount of time. In my opinion, every raid has very midcore-oriented first two floors.
That's pretty much right, Extreme is the gateway into the hard content in the game. They should should have alliance raids stay around the Ivalice/Nier level of difficulty as they said the EW alliance raids were just a bit too easy.
Also got to remember that the difficulty of Extreme wildly varies on the fight.

It really depends on where you play, 10% is right for NA/EU but that number goes up quite a bit on JP/OCE servers with the number going up to 15+% depending on server. This is of course only talking about max level characters
OCE is small but it's not that small, it just had a very large number of ult/savage raiders transfer to it at the start. Somebody at lucky bancho (I think?) did a player clear % vs maximum population and almost the entirety of the top % were held by almost all JP/OCE servers and a few outliers on Aether like Gilgamesh being around the same level.
My mistake. Its actually 20-40% clear rate.

I do not care about gameplay discussions, because once I spent all of ShB raiding with a group and experiencing the harder difficulties of savage and how good and accomplishing clearing is, I realized raiding is more of a chore I forced on myself than an actual fun passtime. MMO gameplay is fricking lame and unfulfilling and I decided it was just a vehicle for the story and non-combat sidecontent, and there's a hundred different genres I'd rather play over this for combat.
So yeah, miss me with that healer strike stuff, I was just gonna run Trusts anyway and then drop the non-crafter grinds.

Triumph is my favorite dungeon boss theme but I have no idea why Insatiable was so hated. Distorted lyrics, synths, and rock guitar are pure kino and perfect for fighting horrifying sineaters. That and Innocence theme are two of my fav songs in the game.

The problem with Insatiable is that they decided to remix it and use that remix as the dungeon mid-boss theme. FOR THE ENTIRE EXPANSION. It was just those two themes every time you ran a dungeon. Insatiable is good, but the remix is garbage and hearing both versions got tiring extremely quickly.

I played a little of this game, i got to level 30 or 40? I'm assuming all the content I saw was in the base game and not expansion stuff.
Do the zones get more visually impressive as I get further? It was a cool game it just kind of felt like...a console mmo or something. Not much on screen at once. Simple geography. Small zones.
Zones get bigger. I would say some areas in ARR zones are pretty picturesque. I don't think the zones in subsequent expacs are substantially more impressive.

Mummification keeps a shithead from healing as efficiently which pairs well with the damage-boost you can spread

LB goes up frequently and is a very helpful boost in a team fight
Scholar represents a fricking enormous annoyance on the battlefield, +8% DPS + shields for you and your team (the shields can keep a full health team-mate from being oneshotted by a Samurai!) and -8% DPS + DoT for the enemy team

But that's the best part, Scholar is actually moron easy if you can at least click the right target for shields and the right target for DoTs. CC's format makes people want to group up, not spread out, so your shields are usually gonna land full-party and DoTs are usually gonna land full-party. Mummifying more than one guy is pretty easy too and Expedience can be used for quick retreats.

You can bait SAM players into killing themselves by shielding yourself and broiling them to get the Kuzure debuff and get them to Zantetsuken you into the middle of your team.

I don't really disagree with any of this.
On content difficulty levels it has traditionally been:
Dungeons -> Trials -> Alliance Raids -> Normal Raids -> EX Trials -> Savage -> Ultimates
EW has thrown that out of whack with some really crappy trials and entire Alliance Raid that are less complex than many dungeons.
It's a reasonable take. Some ultimates/unreals are so hard that if they were MSQ, they would hard-filter so many players. The amount of story/level skippers would skyrocket and you'd just have no one who knows how to play the game except the elite 10%.

To me, the difference between midcore and high-end is whether you need a static to clear it in a reasonable amount of time. In my opinion, every raid has very midcore-oriented first two floors.
That's pretty much right, Extreme is the gateway into the hard content in the game. They should should have alliance raids stay around the Ivalice/Nier level of difficulty as they said the EW alliance raids were just a bit too easy.
Also got to remember that the difficulty of Extreme wildly varies on the fight.
It really depends on where you play, 10% is right for NA/EU but that number goes up quite a bit on JP/OCE servers with the number going up to 15+% depending on server. This is of course only talking about max level characters
It only takes like two statics to skew the numbers on a shithole like OCE
OCE is small but it's not that small, it just had a very large number of ult/savage raiders transfer to it at the start. Somebody at lucky bancho (I think?) did a player clear % vs maximum population and almost the entirety of the top % were held by almost all JP/OCE servers and a few outliers on Aether like Gilgamesh being around the same level.

I can believe it. Most people I know have done at least 1 or 2 floors of savage. Although my server is also at the very top of the list.
It's all self-selection as well; if you do savage or harder content, most of the people you know will ALSO have done a lot of higher-level content.
It's combination of that and being on the server with highest %age of raiders for me I guess. If the list is accurate then 1 out of 3 people I meet would be savage raider.

It's still in the game, EW had that event where the guy was talking about stroking his wood. Trachtoum also showed up in the EW Blu quest and was as vulgar as ever.
I do not care about gameplay discussions, because once I spent all of ShB raiding with a group and experiencing the harder difficulties of savage and how good and accomplishing clearing is, I realized raiding is more of a chore I forced on myself than an actual fun passtime. MMO gameplay is fricking lame and unfulfilling and I decided it was just a vehicle for the story and non-combat sidecontent, and there's a hundred different genres I'd rather play over this for combat.
So yeah, miss me with that healer strike stuff, I was just gonna run Trusts anyway and then drop the non-crafter grinds.

Triumph is my favorite dungeon boss theme but I have no idea why Insatiable was so hated. Distorted lyrics, synths, and rock guitar are pure kino and perfect for fighting horrifying sineaters. That and Innocence theme are two of my fav songs in the game.
The electric guitar in Shadowbringers insisted upon itself and was around way too much.
Overexposure and there being better versions of the main theme. It also weirdly shows up in EW sometimes for no reason

The problem with Insatiable is that they decided to remix it and use that remix as the dungeon mid-boss theme. FOR THE ENTIRE EXPANSION. It was just those two themes every time you ran a dungeon. Insatiable is good, but the remix is garbage and hearing both versions got tiring extremely quickly.
I prefer Finality over Triumph but Revenge Twofold is amazing, Wish p7 DSR had a remixed version of it though

Blizzard 3's cast time is awful unless you're casting it from fire phase, and you need a Blizzard spell of any tier to regain MP, which means you're going to be using Blizzard 1 for time concerns up until you get Blizzard 4
because it has a longer recast time = takes longer to get mp back
the amount of MP you gets is based on what level of UI you're in as well, its 1 cast at UI3 and 2/4 at level 2/1
thinking about it, this makes something like using swiftcast to cast b3 to get your mana back a gain over casting b1 during that 35-57 level range lol

having a good one will set you up to just fricking mow everything down in your path, reminder that their adlo increases your dps by 8% and their DoT spread on the enemy decreases their dps by 8%
they have less direct killing potential than WHM or AST, but they make up for it with the buff they provide to your team
Your shield gives you a damage boost that you can spread
Mummification keeps a shithead from healing as efficiently which pairs well with the damage-boost you can spread
Keep DoTs ticking so that enemies are always being eaten at and always have a damage-down
LB goes up frequently and is a very helpful boost in a team fight
Scholar represents a fricking enormous annoyance on the battlefield, +8% DPS + shields for you and your team (the shields can keep a full health team-mate from being oneshotted by a Samurai!) and -8% DPS + DoT for the enemy team

But that's the best part, Scholar is actually moron easy if you can at least click the right target for shields and the right target for DoTs. CC's format makes people want to group up, not spread out, so your shields are usually gonna land full-party and DoTs are usually gonna land full-party. Mummifying more than one guy is pretty easy too and Expedience can be used for quick retreats.

You can bait SAM players into killing themselves by shielding yourself and broiling them to get the Kuzure debuff and get them to Zantetsuken you into the middle of your team.
