Fedora beat windows 40% in gaming performance
With a fricking compatibility layer
Wingamers BTFO
I play games on my systemd-less void and i've ran into zero (0) issues so far, and i even managed to pirate some games, and hook them up as .exes into steam so i can use proton on them.
Gaming on loonix is comfy.
Yeah when Apex came out with Lunix support I deleted windows and actually started playing the game more often because I didn't have to dual boot.
CSGO isn't that bad.
He could have been playing some botnet-eque level game like LoL, GenshinILOVECHILDREN or something even worse.
CSGO is fine, and as long as you can play it, you're good. >40% of all players in the freedomland are silvers
Everytime I tried the native version of csgo on linux it has audio and imput lag. I usually just switched to proton for that reason alone (it also fixed the garbage font rendering in opengl) but you can't do that anymore without the game giving me an error when I start it. 0/10 because it's an fps
in my experience it was perfectly playable and i didn't notice anything unusual but ive only ever played for around 40 hours so i can't give as great a review. if you had asked about team fortress 2 i would say anything that gives windows players the option of directx and opengl, dx will generally have a more favorable performance than opengl every time but the native ports for linux obviously only support that. im sure if it turned out csgo had a similar performance problem to tf2, then you could mitigate it with lower settings. surely those compgays have developed a csgo alternative to mastercomfig because it solves all my lincuck problems
It's been possible to run Epic games for a while now. With the success of the Steam Deck progress is moving even faster for a lot of games.
Most gaymers won't move beyond the Steam Deck, but there will be an uptick in Linux gaming.
Apex was unplayable stuttery mess when I tried on Fedora 36 and there's no VRR without crippling workarounds.
Needs longer in the oven, but Wayland alone might be the death of Linux on desktop
>Apex was unplayable stuttery mess
If only there was a known workaround with pre-compiled vulkan shaders... >https://github.com/zfkdnop/apex-legends-dxvk-cache >OMG I LOVE LINUX NOW???
I played games on my Arch machine for some months and it was nice. Except for some games that are not playable yet, like Rainbow Six Siege and Halo Master Chief Collection. >just play single player Steam games
I mean yes but even still, I opened a YouTube channel and I want to make muh funny vidya videos. And using kdenlive or whatever video editor in Linux seems so bad incomparison of using Adobe Premiere on Windows.
Notice how J. Louis Iriwn deleted a completely on-topic post because he's a seething troony homosexual and spent hours deleting every post from my IP because I BTFOd his 45th machomosexual bait thread of the day and left up the mass-reply that blatantly violates the rule against participating in or instigating a brand/flame war? The miraculous thing is the stupid cuck still missed at least a dozen posts in his purge. Keep seething and dilating Jay.
>Wanting Microshit to track what you're doing >Wanting companies to tell you what you can do with the computer you own >You will own nothing and you will be happy
are you able to open a terminal with whatever hotkey it provides? that would at least provide the feedback that it wasn't frozen, but rather a kde windowmanager problem. in which case maybe check session and startup for something wacky. i would personally ctrl+alt+f1 or f2 or whatever to get into a cli environment and see if journalctl (if using systemd) spits out any useful garbage. like if you are hanging on a specific step, like hard drive mounting or something. what distro? did you try to do a partial upgrade like pacman -Sy packagename (a bad idea)?
But I burned the disk an eon ago so my only question is would it work on auto to just burn a fresh ISO to dvd plug in the net and try again or is it a bad idea to retred old ground
>no distro information >no mention of potential causes or changes >clearly no attempt to figure it out on your own
at this point this belongs in /sqt/. google 'mydistro 14.88 debugging' or something
What games do you play? tbh I mostly played Valve games which had their own .sh's so they didnt need some third party shit to run it, and they all worked fine
Linux gaming is total cope. You have access to only a fraction of games working natively and games that need Proton/Wine are a compromise that you have to waste time to get working.
Games used to work on Windows. I can't play the same games on Linux because Steam uses Vulkan and my GPU is too old, and doesn't support Vulkan... Why linuxbros?...
Me too, most of the game I play perform better on Linux

See you in the arenas anon.
Same here. It's also really convenient to be able to put a few flags in a game's launch options to enable FSR for an easy FPS boost.
Yeah when Apex came out with Lunix support I deleted windows and actually started playing the game more often because I didn't have to dual boot.
>clearlinux
>mitigations=off
It's max fps time
Me too. But mainly play emulated 16 bit consoles and Dos era stuff when PC gaming was good.
>CANNOT run fortnite
So... it's good?
i looove crossovers
>linux
>gaming
>muh brown shootan
I'm thinking to switch, is CSGO doable? Is the only game i play.
yep, csgo runs better than on windose
Stutters when loading in new chunks of the map.
On nvidia at least
Only when using the experimental -vulkan flag.
On a normal install with nvidia it works perfectly fine.
>i only play 1 garbage popular game
>is it doable?
how can normies be this dumb
CSGO isn't that bad.

>40% of all players in the freedomland are silvers
Most valve games are native cs included. It does run better on Linux I hear
csgo native port is actually worse on linux because of some weird shit, proton is better though
Yep, most source/gold source based games have native linux versions, seems to run better on linux too.
Everytime I tried the native version of csgo on linux it has audio and imput lag. I usually just switched to proton for that reason alone (it also fixed the garbage font rendering in opengl) but you can't do that anymore without the game giving me an error when I start it. 0/10 because it's an fps

God I hope you are right

>plays solitaire on a daily basis
those are OpenBSD users.
Same.
My friends have had to reinstall windows like twice this year, the OS gets so bloated it starts crashing constantly
I put Linux gamers on par with console gaming. Sure, it's possible, but it's objectively shitter than Windows.
Less overhead = more performance
I think you've never tried it. Name the game you had serious issues with

clueless moron
>Having to apply workarounds for every game just to get it in a semi-stable position unlike windows where it just works
I'll stick to the superior OS
>Having to apply workarounds for every game just to get it in a semi-stable position
This was my experience with windows
For out of support games, sure. But not for current games at all.
>but it's objectively shitter than Windows.
My experience has been the opposite.
But windows isn't going anywhere so you so you.
Using windows makes me want to gouge my eyes out
Nobara project fedora is comfy
Fedora setup done out of the box for smelly gamers bois
Nobara is cool but it's packages are usually outdated which I don't like
Arch Black person
NixOS actually
>NOOOO! I NEED MY UPDOOTS
I played games on my Arch machine for some months and it was nice. Except for some games that are not playable yet, like Rainbow Six Siege and Halo Master Chief Collection.

Grow up.
What do you do for fun?
anal sex with my boyfriend
samegay
same
>highly variable fps above the refresh rate with noticeable sutter
>not locking to screen refresh rate and having a perfectly smooth experience
ngmi
>but muh input latency
>implying input's being 3ms faster and before you can even see what is being drawn on screen matter
it's just the video that's stuttering, not too sure why, this is a new install of gentoo so i've probably missed something
>that fov
>apexgay
you will never play titanfall 3
at least install an aimbot if you have any self-respect
I play Elden Ring and it's pretty sweet.
Gaming, at its true peak, is the highest form of art available to the universe

good lord. this is some next level jannie blasting
no one asked you so
what games do you play?
im addicted to path of exile
Same. Windows is deprecated spyware.
I use SteamOs 3 for gaming not on a Steam Deck
If you aren't trolling I am honestly curious as to how you like it.
i NEED to play valorant which means i will always need windows
Riot zombie should just play CSGO. It plays very well on Linux, unlike that discount clone. RIP gaming.
it's not even that fun though
Same here.
>install arch
>install proton-ge
>it just werks
if they ever force me to go back to wangblowz I will unironically just kill myself
then fricking do it Black person
nobody gives a shit about your vegan screeching 24/7
i was being ironic moron u just got trolled

Nice cowfile. Could you share it?
Here you go, Anon.

No need to do anything since Linux already exists and can be used. Keep seething with your obsolete Microdick Windians.
Anybody here play modded skyrim/fallout? how is modding with Mod Organizer 2 in Linux?
I haven't heard good things, but haven't personally tried yet.
I hear Vortex works great though, so maybe I'll just have to settle for that.
Same, Steam just works. I hope other software like Lutris can catch up at some point so it's not all dependant on Steam.
having trouble booting kde plasma right now. Gets to graphical interface section of boot and leaves me with the screen frozen and a pointer
>failed to start network manager
>failed to start authorization manager
>dependency failed for modem manager
How fricked am I?

Yeah I hit cnt alt f2 and in my noobish fashion typed in reboot and that restarted it
Thats the only thing I typed
But I burned the disk an eon ago so my only question is would it work on auto to just burn a fresh ISO to dvd plug in the net and try again or is it a bad idea to retred old ground
