Well time to quit being a tourist and apply for citizenship in SNES country, son!
If you have any used game stores in your area, they'll probably have a used SNES available. And if they don't immediately, ask them if they can take down your info and call you when one comes in.
What games are you thinking of getting? Or what games are making you interested in getting an SNES over a modern Nintendo system?
He can probably find reproduction carts of Chrono Trigger and Earthbound. R-Type he can maybe import from Japan or just buy a flash cart and skip all of that. Emulation is still probably the best option though
Those are all amazing games. Three are very expensive. If you’re collecting good snes games then it’s good to start with the expensive ones. They are just going up in price.
You definietely have to get a SNES. It has so many damn games it's basically the bbc of game consoles. Doesn't really matter what genre, it's awesome. And if you get a switch SNES controller then you can use it on both consoles if you decide to get a switch later.
i have a plan where i want to play the best games of all time in the best way possible. in the case of old releases, that means playing with the original console and a crt, to try and emulate the authentic experience.
i know some games will be hard to acquire, but that’ll just be part of the process that will make me enjoy even more the experience; i’m in no hurry.
so, eventually i’ll have every console, but the newest ones will probably be the last ones i get, if i ever get to that point.
i’m probably going to get the ps1 before the snes.
Fair enough, I have all of that but went the route of flash carts and ODEs
Play them all on a big 28” CRT and I’ve played through a shitload of games
It definitely helped having a few of the consoles already
My latest acquisition and probably last was an OG Xbox with a 1tb HDD
In that case you can save yourself a lot of time and money by just buying a MiSTer and the USB versions of the original controllers. Or a controller converter if you must have your og controllers
Emulate with crt shader
or use mister
Don't use original controllers. Use modern controllers. Older ones will hurt your hand worse, you will regret it later on in your life.
How about a handheld that can both play SNES games and plug into your TV like a Switch?
Also see: SF2000, SupaBoy
There is also a plug and play stick called the SF900 that is basically an SNES emulator you plug into your TV. All better/more affordable options than a plain vanilla SNES or SFC. (I still own my childhood SNES)
>pic is Chinese shit that breaks and can't be repaired and probably is covered in toxic chemicals, all supporting commie slave labor in Shenzhong
Pass on that one.
Get a time machine back to 2002 when Gamestops were selling SNESes for $10. Also you'd want to avoid the first run models as the CPUs frick themselves.
It was very good. Good system.
You mean you don't already own a super nintendo? The frick are you doing on /vr/?
imma tourist
Start with the coleco vision, then the nes, then you can buy the snes

SOVL
these are for now what i’d like to get eventually
Better off just getting DKC and maybe Super Metroid with the console and hope you can find the others for a price that suits you later (good luck)

Something not designed or manufactured by a Chinaman, you moronic "anti-racist".

the bad SNESes have a 1xxx serial number so you know to avoid those
I own the miniversion hacked with 100 games, the majority of which are JRPGs.
Ask me nothing.
