the only not completely moronic entry in the series*

Start with 5 my guy, the rest are very mediocre (especially 1) and 3 is an outlier but 5 is absolute peak. 2 and DmC are mistakes in videogame form.

I actually liked the DmC reboot quite a lot. Possibly even more than 4 and 5.

I liked it way more than 5. 5 is a monke paw

I've played through DmC more times than I have 5.
However I'm not ready to admit that I like it more than 5 yet.

5 is good gameplay wise, the story is quite weak and underwhemling , it's too anime like 1 and 3 were kino

        Anonymous

What? 3's story was just as animu as 5's
If anything 4 is the most giga anime story of the series

3 felt serious, had better story.
~~*Nico*~~ ruined the seriousness of the game and that blabbering crow.
They even behave like typical anime characters which ruins it.

            >3 felt serious
It really didn't. It had serious moments for sure, but it wasn't serious all the time, and the first half in particular is treated with a ton of levity.

I'm playind the first DMC for the first time in years and holy shit I don't remember the game being this hard. I'm using up all my red orbs on fricking consumables. Guess I'm getting old.

DMC1, 3, 4 and 5. Throw in DmC wherever, if you want. It's good that it ultimately failed to pick up a series because 5 is incredible, but it's fine.

    >DMC1 is basically the prototype of every modern action game going forward
    >DMC3 is probably one of the best games ever made, it's just extremely tight and memorable
    >DMC4 can be a bit of a headache if you hadn't already been huffing DMC3 for years before picking it up but it's good and you should play it for introducing Nero and boomer Dante
    >DMC5 is incredible

everyone in this thread is moronic just play it in normal order op you'll be fine

don't play 2. the literal only good part of the game is the solid final boss and it's nowhere near worth the rest of it- the rest of the series borderline ignores it, anyway.

  8. 2 years ago

I'd suggest you start with 5. If you like it you'll most likely enjoy 3 and 4 as well, if you don't then the series is probably not for you. 1 and reboot are also pretty good, but play them like separate games. Avoid 2 like the plague. Ignore idiots who say to play them in release order

  9. 2 years ago

You can skip 2, pretty sure every game ignores its story and pretends like it never happened. If you really must play it, its pretty short. The only good thing it does is the design of dante and his dt

  10. 2 years ago

1 and 3 are the must play ones.
    4 and 5 are alright I guess.
    2 is atrociou.

Play all numbered titles in release order.
And remember: real videogamers don't skip DMC2, they skip DmC

Im playing first time now, getting absolutely git gud filtered by 1 but enjoying every minute. If you're not mediocre at games like i am you could get through it in 4-5 hours according to everyone else.
Same as most of the replies in this thread and others ive seen, 1 3 4 V skip 2 and DmC, unless youre gay.

Nah DMC1 for the first time will take 2 or 3 sittings since you won't understand how to shit out damage immediately and can possibly have trouble with bosses like Nightmare or Nelo Angelo.

        Anonymous

        >nightmare or nelo angelo
i dont even know what either of those are, the spider boss filtered me until i realized there was a specific weak point + technique, then i got filtered by the wolf before realizing my moronic ass just needed to learn how the dodge mechanic worked then blew his ass out, then the spider part II filtered me again because i'm trying to learn the technique to making him fall through the stained glass window.
Great game but i see why people have said what you just did, its not explaining the mechanics in any real detail and you're sorta left to fend for yourself. To me, that's not a problem, that's just a game doing what they did during the golden ages and i respect that. I notice myself getting significantly better and being able to fight back, vs a game handholding me these days and enabling me to be this shit.
Also dark knight was a walk in the park compared to spider b***h for some reason, i think its the basic attack patterns and the fact you could hitstun from the back and repeat that.

The best ones are 1 and 3, but 4, 5 and DmC are still worth playing.
2 is a weird mess that is easily skipped but if you're curious you can beat it quick.

    Play 2 first

  15. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

    1 (optional)
    2 (skip)
    3
    4 (optional)
    5 (optional)

1 is pretty basic mechanically compared to the others but worth a play. 2 is just bad. 3 is king. 4 and 5 are both unfinished in their own ways but still good games

      Anonymous

      >5
      >unfinished

how do you not realize it’s unfinished when you end up doing the same intro sequence 5 different times throughout the game and the latter half looks exactly the same the entire way through

          Anonymous

So by that logic DMC3 is unfinished since you pretty much just go up and down a single tower with very little in the way of variety. Not to mention that it has it's fair share of backtracking.

Either play them in 1,3,4,5 order or 3,1,4,5 order. 1 is a bit simple/antiquated but it’s like 21 year old. Skip 2 as it has no relevance.

Nah tree world has various biomes and the fights with urizen 1 show parallels in Dante’s/Nero’s power/struggle. It is better then replaying half the game again but in backwards like in 4. Though it was dumb that 5 doesn’t have a character selection for all levels after completion of each difficulty.

Play Bayo, Ninja Gaiden and Nioh instead. DMC is marvel-tier garbage.

Very important: don't finish one and then go over the next entry like a moron, play them at least twice (on Normal and Hard), but preferrably you want to finish each one on Dante Must Die before moving to the next.

    Start with V

Play all numbered entries in order. Just focus on completing normal/devilhunter difficulty for each. You can dive into the higher difficulties of your favorites after finishing all 5.

Don't ignore 2. It's easily the best game in the series, but due to being too different from the DMC template it filtered the morons.

      Anonymous

I've noticed that morons who don't like 2, also don't like 5. They're easily two of the best games in the series and only mentally ill troons disagree.

  21. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

Just play all the games in order and formulate your own opinion. Generally you're probably not missing out on much by skipping 2, but you can just try it out for a bit and skip it if you don't want to keep playing. Letting others dictate your opinions is moronic, even in cases where that opinion is the consensus among the fanbase.

4 and 5 are OK, with 5 being much better than 4. 1 and 3 are pretty good themselves if can handle old graphics and few anachronic design decisions. Avoid 2 and DmC.

Ideally, you should go in normal order, it means 1,3,4,5.
