Based, as far as commercial games go, classic FPS is now almost overflowing with commercial content.
Not to say the genre would be totally dead (ancient aliens released the same week as DOOM 2016), but it would be very limited.

Make it more like Doom 2016.
Keep the zoomer pacification tech in the game (dash, bloodpunch, regenerating chainsaw energy, ice bombs, flame belch, Mario platforming, demon weak points, etc.).
But keep OG fans happy with increased enemy counts, larger battlegrounds, and classic ammo caps.
