Your argument is a cope. If you didn't try to compel others into playing whatever they don't want to play like some kind of moronic parody of a rapist, your moronic kind wouldn't have been piledriven by society in general, yes? But since you non-Human players always had a problem with using words, it ended how it ended with you slapping your own dungpile into you own face.

Humans invented all of those things. There is nothing greater than humans, and anything that we pretend is greater than humanity is ultimately just a fiction of the human mind, and thus not greater than us.

                >with only 9mm and 5.56
You do realize that propellant, type of tip of a bullet, and the length of a barrel compounded with rifling (the longer the rifling the bullet moves along the higher the centrifugal and kinetic energy is given to it to stabilize force-retention), are the determinants of power, and not the caliber itself, right? Which is why militaries now achieve large-caliber destructive power with calibers a third of the size by utilizing this fine physics.

no rifle owned by an average unexperienced gun owning American is going to kill a polar bear

                Anonymous

Any rifle or gun of today owned by an average inexperienced gun owning American can kill a polar bear using today's modern bullets. Whether it actually does is nether a 0% nor a 100% case scenario, the same as with any experienced gun owner as well, and depend on where the bullet hits. It is also not possible to give a confident estimate whether the polar bear will run away scared from the sound alone, freeze in place, or continue onwards towards the shooter, depending on the bear since they are not a hivemind and depending on the shooter themselves and their distance from one and conditions.
All in all, you are hypothesizing from a standpoint of ignorance, not even knowing the basics of what destructive power modern bullets are capable of from igniter types alone which give them the kinetic and penetration power.

Video games and RPGs are all about self-insertion. No human can actually role-play as something they're not, you still call back to your own experiences.

It's only about self insertion to people who don't have abstract thinking. There was a reason DnD only appealed to nerds originally and then after the new game rules that dumbed everything down did new players just made Mary/Gary stu self insert characters and didn't understand what the game was about.

This board can't even stick to thread subjects and will bite bait that are completely unrelated to the topic at hand.

Ganker as a whole is populated mostly by people of average intelligence at best and aggressive anti-intellectualism. They substitute intelligence and intellectualism with a crude elitism founded upon a cynical contrarianism which is rooted in a shallow exploration of the subject in the main but more importantly in entry-level esoteric aspects of the subject, whose obscurity to the general public gives them a false sense of superiority in comprehension for being "in the know", unlike normie sheep.

The obsession is driven by a need for identity in order to provide a sense of fulfillment for an otherwise lacking life. This induces a zealotry of preposterous degree, partially fueling the unwarranted rampant hostility here, but all that is beside the point.

The point is that they take their surface level understanding as good enough, and never push for a real progress or development of the general understanding and narrative. The board knowledge becomes frozen in time and depth and always opens and ends the same way. You only very rarely get someone expertly well acquainted with the matters, who either provide ad hoc evaluations in the same flippant style of the general user that are difficult to recognize as genuine information, or else effortposts that go far too in depth beyond the capacity of the average user to comprehend and appreciate what's being said, so typically ignored or brusquely dismissed.

That creates an environment hostile to experts, whose contributions are made to seem unwelcome. Experts are usually professionals acutely aware of when they are wasting their time, and so they shall choose to spend less and less of it discoursing here, and so the overall trend to the lowest common denominator continues unabated.

It's Hamlet with lions, You can easily strip away the lion windowdressing and still have a compelling human story.

but that's my point, you can easily tell a compelling human story without having human main characters

          Anonymous

No you can't. Even most fictional non-bestial aliens, monsters, and "animal people" are just humans with superficial animal features, because they are being imagined by humans. Dragging in a load of fantasy races doesn't actually increase the number of stories you can tell, or the nature and quality of said stories.

This is something competent writers figure out pretty fricking early.

You're clearly not getting it. It's a compelling human story because the animals aren't animals, they are humans superficially appearing as animals.

                Anonymous

"alien characters" in stories could be designed the exact same way, my point is that writers don't do this and focus on creating one dimensional caricatures instead of compelling "human" characters

                Anonymous

People who write good interesting characters that are humans soon realize that all the non-humans are just shitty writers trying to use quirks in place of actual content to make character interesting. If you can't write a good human character, you can't write a good character period. If you can write a good human character, you have no real reason to bother with non-humans.

There is never "no point" to writing things a certan way. If you wanna tell a story about ayys being invaded by Humans, or feral cats around a lake doing some good old tribal warfare, or a robot fighting for everlasting peace, then that's point enough to do it.

Human characters give us the strongest thing to identify with. That's why 99% of all our stories are about humans. Humans are the default and for good reason. Calling that "dull" and wanting to "subvert" it just to be different makes it pretty clear you are either a self-hating misanthrope or have no other options for making your already dull characters interesting.
