I 100%ed it for the first time recently and it actually was really fun almost the entire time
What sucked was the chao garden grind for good race stats and big's hardest fishing levels before i stopped being moronic and learned how to properly reel the fish in

Big the cat's fishing minigame is actually kinda fun. If it was an optional campaign people wouldn't complain since fishing is not for everyone
Fishing is also less than 1 minute in each stage if you aren't moronic like some kids were apparently.
My biggest complain with Big's gameplay is that the camera brokes a lot when you're trying to fish in some spots

Amy and Gamma are fine. They're short and acceptable. None of the characters are truly on the same tier as Sonic however. Big on the other hand really is boring and I don't get why he was part of the main game.

Because Sega were big about advertising their bass fishing title for Dreamcast as well as it being a silly fish out of water concept. 90s Sega was a very weird conpany.
Gamma stages were good
Imagine if that new Sonic Frontiers game had this games spindash and crazy physics for traversing the lands. Would like 100x more interesting.

Big levels took about 1 minute each. It’s the Amy levels that suck. She’s so slow and the level designs weren’t interesting at all.
i don't mind Amy and Gamma stages. Big is awful tho

1995-1998 Sonic Team was pure soul. It's the same people for all three games
one of the most earnest and soulful 3D games ever. It's so likeable
