It's late 1990, a mysterious man hands you a FREE Super Nintendo and he goes "You get to pick 5 free games but that's ALL you get to play until the N64 comes out in 1996." Which ones are you picking? (ps: it could be from ANY game from ANY year during the SNES lifespan, not just limited to its launch games)

fpbp /thread
that being said the only really worthwhile game on the SNES is Super Metroid.
super metroid
ff6
earthbound
shadowrun
mega man x
That's an easy one. DKC trilogy, Super Mario World, and Mega Man X. Pretty much the only (good) SNES games I had as a kid.
Simcity, Castlevania IV, Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger, and Doom (Since we didn't have a PC until 96)
Chrono trigger
Castlevania X
Doom
Star fox
5.
allstars + world
FFV
DKC2
Megaman X
Cybernator
>allstars + world
>he is unaware
OP Here, forgot to add my 5 picks:
1) Killer Instinct (best fighting game that has great mix of SF's quarter-circle controls & MK's bloody violence)
2) Lufia 2 (comfy non-FF JRPG with a fairly lengthy storyline)
3) Donkey Kong Country 2 (best one out of the DKC trilogy, excellent music & gameplay)
4) Joe & Mac (one of the best and underrated action games with great music & boss fights)
5) Super Mario RPG (my fave. casual rpg on it)
It's tough to leave out some my other favorites like Mega Man X, Super Mario World, Saturday Night Slam Masters, King of Dragons, TMNT Tournament Fighters, Power Rangers Fighting Edition, Knights of the Round, Kirby's Dream Course/Avalanche/Superstar, Super Metroid, A Link To The Past, Yoshi's Island, etc but the system's library was insanely high quality.
stop asking stupid questions
tetris attack
super metroid
pocky and rocky
seiken densetsu 3
yoshi's island

-Wild Guns
>Street Fighter 2 Turbo
>Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World
>Chrono Trigger
>Ogre Battle
>Pilotwings
If I'm allowed romhacks:
>Super Metroid Redux

>Super Ghouls'n Ghosts
>Super Castlevania IV
>Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World
>Super Street Fighter 2 (there are better versions, but if I cannot get them yet...)
>Terranigma
FPBP
I assume this system magically plays Super Famicom games so:
>Mega Man VII
has my favorite graphics and is very replayable
>Zelda Link to the Past
one of the first games I ever played
>Plok
the best music of all SNES/SFC games
>Dragon Quest VI
my favorite rpg, narrowly beating tales of phantasia
>Kirby's Dream Course
cute and perfect for falling asleep
If the system can't magically play SFC games, then replace Dragon Quest VI with Chrono Trigger to maintain diversity, or stir the pot with Harvest Moon
Super Castlevania IV
Axelay
Super Mario World
Super Metroid
Contra III: The Alien Wars
DKC 2 and 3, F-Zero, International Super Star Soccer Deluxe and Top Gear 3000.
Mega Man Soccer
Vortex
(other three won't get played and don't matter)

Earthbound
Super Mario World
Wild Guns
Zelda
>metal warriors
I appreciate your fine taste. My list wpupd be
Metal Warriors
Cybernator
Super Star Wars
Super Empire
Super Return
You may really like front mission: gun hazard if you haven't played it.
Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Lufia 2
Chrono Trigger
Der Langrisser
7th Saga
I would pick FF6, but Lufia 2 has a ton of replayability in its Ancient Cave mode. It's basically two games in one so it's hard not to pick it for the situation you described. Get to have a really fun and good casual RPG AND a Roguelike dungeon crawler on a single cart. Same with 7th saga over FF6. It's a solid enough game to play through once, but you could easily play it once a year with a different character and not get bored. I like Fire Emblem: Seisen No Keifu way better than Der Langrisser, but Langrisser has a ton more replayability and different story routes you can take in it. I WANT to include King Arthur's World, but even though I love it, it's not quite good enough to make the cut.
Games like Super Metroid, Super Castlevania IV, ActRaiser 2, Castlevania Dracula X, Demon's Crest and Megaman X are GREAT titles, but they're so short. I can't include them in this list because once you beat them a few times, you'd definitely not want to play them again well before the 5 years are up.
But man, you'd miss out on so many great titles. Earthbound, E.V.O, Cannon Fodder, Ogre Battle, Wild Guns, Shadowrun, ActRaiser, Link to the Past, F-Zero, Knights of the Round, NBA Jam, Mortal Kombat 1/2, Final Fight 1/2/3, Fire Emblem 3/4/5, Front Mission, Mech Warrior, Illusion of Gaia, Super Mario World, Super Punch-Out, Terranigma, Megaman X2/3, Contra 3, Ys 3, Metal Combat, Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge, Kirby's Avalanche, Kirby's Dream Course, Super Ghouls n' Ghosts, Killer Instinct, Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3, Star Ocean, Super Mario RPG, Super Star Wars 1/2/3, Turtles in Time, DKC 1/2/3, FF4/5/6, Star Fox, The Lost Vikings. My god, the SNES was just fricking loaded with winner after winner.
>7th Saga
Why do you want to torture yourself?
nta, but I really love the whole aspect of meeting the other apprentices in this game, especially the 2 that hold other runes.
Plus, it's oddly relaxing to me, I really like some of the music.
>All Stars + Super Mario World
>Street Fighter Turbo 2
>Rock n Roll Racing
>Super Famicom Wars
>Torneko's Great Adventure
no other list itt will take out more hours of fresh gameplay than this one (implying you got family/friends to play with ofc)
Chrono Trigger
Super Mario RPG
Lufia 2
Final Fantasy 6
Yoshi's Island
Mega Man X
DKC3
FFV
Kirby Super Star
Super Metroid
>Harvest Moon
>Mario All Stars
>Link to the Past
>Mario RPG
>Rock and Roll Racing (though I've only played it on Sega, dunno about the SNES version)
STRANGER DANGER
Do I only get games released in 1990, yahoo know for the month and a half the SNES was released?
Rocky Rodent
Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind
Bubsy 2
Sparkster
Star Fox
A Link to the Past
The Legend of the Mystical Ninja
Super Mario RPG
Super Mario All Stars + World
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
mystical ninja
super castlevania iv
super metroid
street fighter ii hyper fighting
donkey kong country 1
Akumajou Dracula XX
Metal Max 2
Batman Returns
Final Fight 3
Actraiser 2
Dragon Quest V
MMX
FF6
Super Mario World
Super Mario Kart
...and I honestly can't think of a 5th game. SNES kind of sucks. Basically any other Nintendo console is significantly better.
Dragon Quest V
Romancing SaGa 3
Super Metroid
Yoshi's Island
Kirby's Super Star
Final Fantasy 6
Chrono Trigger
Super Mario All Stars + World
Super Metroid
The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past
Could sink hundreds of hours into these
Based on that criteria? If we're talking American releases only then Super Mario Kart, Super Mario World, Super Smash T.V., Super Street Fighter II, and Donkey Kong Country.
If we're allowed to pick Japanese games then replace DKC with Super Fire Pro Wrestling X Premium.
yoshi island
demons crest
spankys quest
starfox
final fight
