Yes, thank you for proving my point that SMW is shit, one of the reasons they made YI (Called SMW2 btw, cope) is because they were so embarassed at their first shot at an SNES platformer that they went all in with the Super FX chip.
It's fine if you guys like SMW, the gameplay is okay I guess if you're young, but you have intense nostalgia goggles if you think its paltry backgrounds and miscolored sprites look any good.
That's the thing though, SMW has considerably worse gameplay than SMB1 and 3. Cape feather breaks the game entirely, the jump physics were made easier, and you get auto-drop items from getting hit.
So not only does it look worse than SNES contemporaries, you also have snooze inducing gameplay. I'm a millennial born in 1992 and I was playing shit that looked nice with Mode 7 which was revolutionary at the time. Nintendo fumbled the ball with Mario until All Stars and Yoshis Island came out.

as opposed to the P wing or Tanooki suit. People really act like theyre forced at gunpoint to use the feather >the jump physics were made easier, and you get auto-drop items from getting hit.
so dont get hit?
Probably DKC. It's a simple but enjoyable romp you can finish in an afternoon and doesn't require the same amount of investment the others do if you're not in the mood.
There's a stretch that can be tough if you are just saving when you reach a save point and don't double back before/after a boss.
>orang-uatang gang >clam city >Bumble B Rumble >Snow Barrel Blast >Slipslide Ride >Ice Age Alley >Crotopus Chase >Torchlight Trouble (much harder on SNES than GBA)
The last 5 have to be done without saving since you're locked into the world. By this point in the game you're no longer in the easy extra lives areas so if you aren't sharp you might lose a lot of progress. I don't think the individual levels are particularly tough and the DKC1 bosses are a joke
Super Metroid.
FFVI, I haven't played it in a while.
I’ve had the itch to replay DKC lately
SMW
Imagine unironically playing a game that looks like this.
mario was a release game
So? Other games at that time still looked better.
Graphics aren't everything. And besides, that game's artstyle was amazing in its simplicity.
Graphics are not the end all be all, but you have to put in effort.
SMB1 and SMB3 looked appropriate for their time of release. SMW looks like a beta. In fact, the beta looked better.
Which would you rather have, a great looking game with less content or a simpler looking game packed with levels and secrets?
You can have both. Are you insinuating the other games I listed had less content?
No, but in a hypothetical where you can't have both, which is more important to you?
>at that time
Mario was released in 1990, other games came out 4 years later at least.
Still no excuse.
soulless above
Sovl below
And yet, SMW has double the substance all the games above it have.

Are you aware of the long path it took for YI to look like that?
why would I have to imagine it? I did that as a kid
>Graphics from the first game
>Graphics from games that came after it using the predecessor as a benchmark
Sigh. I think it should be a bannable offense for kids to post here.
Hey, I know you.
You're right, though.
Good graphics doesn't equate to good gameplay even Zoomers understand that. Are you gen alpha or something brought up by ever flashier mobile games?

Super mario world easily. Its one of my favorite games and Ive been meaning to do my yearly replay
Anything but FF6 or DKC. The rest are classics that hold up to this day. DKC gets blown the frick out by it's direct sequel and FF7 >> FF6.
>DKC gets blown the frick out by it's direct sequel
t. someone who relies on Dixie's hairspin as a crutch.
KYS
Super Mario World is the only good game here
SM
never played ff6 so that one
Umihara Kawase
its shit and so is the remake
OG Rocket knight is one of the best games ever made.
The remake is... actually fine. just sadly short and never reaches the level of insanity the original had.
frick you its shit and so is your fake mother
Yep, it's time to play SNES games again all day.
Let's get comfy.
DKC. But not on a shitendo. Ill emulate them on my PC
>nintendo
If I can't kill myself to get out of this situation I'd pick metroid
megaman x
mmx and it isn't even close
X, but I'd take DKC2 if it were there
FFVI
Haven't played dkc , are people exaggerating about the game's difficulty?
It's slightly challenging near the end? About the same level as a typical SNES game
Its just the barrel cannon levels that can be hard
Right now?
SM
ALttP
FFVI
DKC
SMW
MMX

EZ
Switch DKC with 2 and you have the perfect SNES game line-up.
X1 is the only game I replay sometimes out of all those
I'm literally playing DKC 2 right now
DK, no contest. One of my fave games of all time.
Since I just finished ZM and SR, I should probably play Super but sadly I stared Mega Man Zero and want to finish that first
Refering to Metroid btw
SM > MMX > DKC > SMW > ALTTP >>>>>>>> FF6
Super Metroid
FF6
Zelda
Donkey Kong or/then Mario
Mega man(never played it so its last)
Megaman X, really any of them except for Final Fantasy and ALTTP. It just depends on what I'm in the mood for.
Its Nintendo. They've never cared about pushing graphics. Thats what third parties are for.
The goal of World was to expand on the Bros style of gameplay and pack it full of secrets.
FINAL FANTASY III
