I'm 40 hours in and still in Act 1, so honest question: how the hell are all these reviewers reviewing the game when they all got the game the same time as us regular players? Unless they rushed through 90% of content, but then why even bother writing a review?

Reviewers don't play games for more than a few hours at most, if even that. Anything they know beyond that is contained in notes provided by the publisher.
It takes 40 hours to get to act 3 without skipping content, 55 to finish the game. Getting the game week in advance lets you finish it

Different anon here but I beat the game after 90 hours and I did basically everything that I could. I also let the game idle for hours at a time while I went and did other things. I could have finished a mostly complete run within 60 hours if I actually tried.
Sure you did everything? i'm 45hrs in act 1 at te githyanki creche and still have the mountain pass and night moon tower to do.
I'd say minus 2 hrs for me idle time so far.

act 2 and 3 are unfinished. The game is filled with bugs (on my machine at the very least.) The dialogue is yiik tier. At least 3 times a fight an enemy will take more than 5 seconds to act. Those are my base level complaints and the fact this game was in early access for three years and 66% of the game is borderline unplayable is a travesty.

This. It is massively overrated. The rest of the characters are unlikeable and poorly written. There is no sense of development or growing together on a journey. The battles RNG element is a piece of shit and completely illogical at times.

Reviewers don't actually play the game to completion / play on the easiest possible difficulty so they can steamroll through the content in the shortest possible timeframe.
Even looking past the publisher / review site collusion, reviewers are generally inclined to give to positive scores as to not piss off any given fanbase / go against the common opinion.

this part is even more depressing, thousands of slop consoomers actually rated the game 10/10 without even playing for than 10 hours
one of the reasons TotK got such high reviews is because journos "only" played the game for 50 hours before finishing the main story. at that point the game remains fresh and exciting. TotK's cracks start to show once you've put in 100h.
and yes, I get it, that's a lot of fricking time, and the game is still good overall, but there are definitely flaws you don't notice until you're really deep into the game, and that also goes for many complex RPGs.
the problem is, bg3 is a narrative driven game that requires being played to completion.ToTK is objectively a gameplay driven game so it's understandable if people don't complain about reviewers not completing the game before reviewing it.
And if these people played BG3 until the end, they will know that there are issues with incomplete content for niche decisions, low quality of endings for the companions and the lack of reactivity after act 1.

They got journo copies like 4 days before release and have been playing since then. I finished the game yesterday and it took me 75 hours and I took my time(save file says 63), If you rush it even on a first time play trough, cause you have quotas to meet you should be able to complete it in like 45 maybe even less.
