I'm replaying Bayonetta after not playing it since release, and man, was it always this shitty?
There's tons of little annoying things, constant interruptions, cancerous enemies and long levels of gimmicks.
I remember it being a fun action packed ride, but this is just shit
bros?
idk

What?

I don't get it, is this some twitch homosexualry?

The golden version are worst, those motherfrickers are awful, even more awful than Jeanne parry. Climax is a nightmare.
>was it always this shitty
yeah
kamiya was a hack that just had a vocal online fanbase to shout down any criticism
now even they have stopped defending his garbage
Yeah it has high highs and a fantastic core combat system, locked within a lopsided gimmicj-ridden campaign
When you put the best boss fight in the game behind a 10 minute long space harrier minigame, somethings wrong
Also Kamiya was obsessed with GoW so all the bosses are just big things with weak points you hit and wait for cutscenes to progress the fight
If the game was half the length, filler cut and bosses overhauled, it'd be perfect
1st game has the best combat system, but the game is filled with shit that prevents you from properly engaging with it. Things like escort missions with Cereza, the motorcycle section, the space harrier section, etc. Not to mention the instant kill QTEs that have no reason to be there other than to piss you off.
This is why, despite having a worse combat system, I still think 2 is the best of the series due to cutting most of the fat.
I think it's bullshit that healing items drop your rank. Your rank is already affected by all the damage you took. Why the additional kick in the dick?
You're supposed to get good
Same with every other action game. But other action games know that your rank is already taking a hit because of the damage you took. You can heal in Devil May Cry or any other Platinum game and they only punish you by taking away the no item bonus. It'd be less of an issue if Bayo 1 wasn't so stingy with its health drops.
>You can heal in Devil May Cry
Yeah, I'll concede that. I got DMC mixed up. DMC penalizes items, but doesn't penalize deaths. You can die as many times as you want and still scrape by with a mid rank, though the time will probably be shit. Bayo 1 punishes both death and item use, which is why it's practically a meme that players get through the game with nothing but stone trophies.
Same anon here. I'm actually gonna flip my criticism around. Bayo 1 is still too harsh for doing both, but I think Platinum's other games would be better if they were like DMC as well. Punish items; not deaths. It's more satisfying to beat a boss after numerous deaths then just chugging health and killing them in one go.
Best Bayonetta is 2. Both 1 and 3 have their moments but 2 just doesn't stop for you to breathe. Incredible game.
>but 2 just doesn't stop for you to breathe
Umbran Climax makes you essentially invincible as long as you press buttons. This makes no sense. It's one of the worst mechanics in an action game because of how completely broken it is.
If it wasn't for umbra climax/wicked weave issues you would be right. Bayo2 is easily my favorite in the series from a first run through perspective, minimal gimmick sections and loaded with setpieces and boss fights. Problems only show on repeat playthroughs at high difficulties and you realize the fundamental combat is broken
>sneeze during cutscene
>miss qte
>instant death
Just hold the attack button down before dodging and it’ll be about as fun as you remember it. Aside from the QTEs and mini game segments I mean.
I know about dodge offset and shit, I don't want to sound like a homosexual but I'm good at the game, it's just I don't remember so much annoying shit
I spent hours getting autistic with this game, but coming back feels odd
what enemies do you not like? they're all good
Burnning Ardors and Gracios and Gloriousness
ardors are my favorite. whip or fire claws or bullets and then you get to free style on them
gracious and glorious are the big dodge offset test. kino enemies if you can interrupt them.
bayonetta is so good
Bayo 2 is unironically the only one that holds up. The first game is marred by the quirks of being the first game and the oldest one, and the third game is marred by all the gimmick shit and not-playing-as-Bayonetta shit. Can't speak for the e-girl spinoff, never played it.
>Bayo1 after acquiring Moon of Mahaa-Kalaa
Hold right trigger and press back to instantly skip a cutscene
terrible thread
