How is that particularly like a CoC character?
'He was shot in the face, head, stomach, ankle, leg, hip, and ear; was blinded in his left eye; survived two plane crashes; tunnelled out of a prisoner-of-war camp; and tore off his own fingers when a doctor declined to amputate them.'
Sounds like a typical Call of Cthulhu character to me.
He's more Delta Green material, I'd think.
Rasputin
Comte de Saint Germain
Jesus

I did cave archaeology for years. I never managed to wake up any eldritch horror at all. I'm a fricking failure.
You need a higher intelligence score to correlate all of your mind's contents.
If I were any smarter I would never have gone to grad school, anon. At least I didn't pay for that shit.

I'd think of him as some bizarre alien entity and the gang was the PCs trying to kill him but slowly learning of his truly alien nature.
Wasn't there a series of mug shots of australian criminals? Their crimes were petty but they look like they would be typical PCs or goons in a CoC game.
>australian
>criminals
that's redundant

I always put historical characters in my games, it's easier and more real than writing a character from scratch
George S. Patton was a crazy man who believed he was the reincarnation of Julius Caesar because his aunt was a mystic fortune teller, lead the first US armored expedition into Mexico in the Pancho Villa Expedition, and wanted the uniform of the US Tank-Corps to be silver with gold football helmets.
Yes that George Patton.
So... just literally every single person ever, the more average, the more fitting?
You do have any passing familiarity with CoC beyond "that game with tentacles and shit"... right?

I think it's more about NPCs. Actual historical figures who's true histories could easily include eldritch elements for the purposes of horror role playing. GMs can literally use them or take inspiration from them for OCs to make their game more grounded in reality and therefore more horrible - which is a good lesson to learn.
It's one of the better threads right now, you'll probably feel more superior if you try to shit on one of the many threads that literally have no use for gaming whatsoever.
