The problem is reports are that Sony's current strategy is to throw them out and hope they stick because they are afraid of other companies getting ahead because of the potential disruption in the industry. They already got a big shock when Microsoft actually got Activision Blizzard in the end so now the biggest live service game of the year by revenue is funding their direct competitor. They could potentially be left out cold if another big media or tech like Disney does eventually strike for someone who's open to it like EA.
Add in that their first party games are costing over $200 million to make which is eating into their margins to the point where the slow in post-pandemic spending on the big third parties is destroying their margins (Along with bad bets like PSVR). They have to go all out on live service or they are just going to get swallowed up.
And they shouldn't have closed Japan studio. What an absolute catastrophic frick up that was.

This really sucks. The PS5 is a hell of a machine, but Jim Ryan's obsession with milking his 3 cinematic super-game franchises and pushing development of live service games no one wants has made it almost pointless to own. Time must be a flat circle, because again, I'm using my Playstation mostly as a Blu-ray player. There aren't many compelling exclusives, and gun to my head, I couldn't really tell you anything interesting that they're releasing in the future.
Playstation is about to have its own "lost generation", just like XBox is having now.

Their online service is expensive and doesn't offer anything that cheaper, better services offer like steam or even gamepass. Their exclusives are boring and formulaic. The console itself doesn't do anything that a decent PC doesn't.
Sony is doing some really, really shitty decicions, and I say this as someone who literally bought a PS5 yesterday. If they keep this up they'll go the way of the xbox for sure: A machine for people too lazy to plug a pc.

Of the top 5 GPUs, the 3060, 3070, and 3070 Ti are better than current gen consoles. The 2060 is slightly worse.
Around 25% of the steam survey just from looking at the top 5 already compares favorably with current-gen console gaming.
3060 isn't better than a PS5 it's on par. Games run 1440p 60fps on PS5 and up to 4k 60fps. Less than 50% have a GPU better. PC has no games, it has PS5 games. PS5 has exclusives on top.
