Currently playing 7, I love the dogfighting but goddamn the missions with destroy x amount within 10 minutes is completely fricking stupid.
On the first canyon mission I didn't know you had to unlock the A-10 so I was doing the mission with some Mig, at first it was fun because I thought you had to be really fast, barely having the hairs on my nuts grazing the ground going. But I kept running out of time. What your suppose to do is hover and just do busy worth with the A-10 doesn't even feel satisfying, entire time felt like i was moving a lawn. And running out of missiles having to fly back to base to refill with a slow ass a10 wasting time. Completely unbearable. They should've just stole from Crimson Skies and have ammo pick up around the level. I don't care if its unrealistic, flying back, having nothing to do completely takes me out of the enjoyment.
I stopped around the oil tanker mission

Not him, but you don't need the A-10 for that mission, you can complete the game in any plane.
The score attack missions have genuine faults in them but none of them are what you just typed.
I can prove it to you. How many parts do you have and what difficulty are you playing in?

if this series was still around nobody would even look at Ace Combat, same with Rogue Squadron. It's only lasted this long because it has no competition in the flightcade genre.

You just need to learn target prioritization.
Things like gas and oil tanks will explode and take out everything around them.
If a ground target isn't labeled TGT don't worry about it unless there is nothing else around to shoot, or its a SAM or AA gun if its giving you a lot of trouble.
Stay low, and start planning out your lines of attack.
Once you can take out the first airbase on longest day in a single pass, clear out the convoy of trucks and watch towers on your way to the first canyon, and just strafe up and down.
I usually clear out those first two bases and the second stage kicks in before I can get to the 3rd one.
If you can take out shipping containers before the launch drones it will make your life easier too.
