Yes it is also a great turn based game (Think about Fire Emblem/Shinning force but more complex) but many campaigns, maps, factions, and many many addons. Learning how to play from the tutorial won't take you more than 10 minutes. Whenever you are ready you can also play online.
The game is easy to learn, but it will take some time before you get used to the different factions/units/skills this game offer.
On lowest dificulty, yes. Don't try to increase the difficulty right off the bat, as the game really fricking means the names of difficulties.

at MOST if you want a challenge and you're brand new to BfW go and pick Normal (or whatever the second easiest difficulty is) on some of the easier campaigns
Normal on some of the harder campaigns can even be more brutal than the hardest difficulty of some of the easy campaigns
