Anything can be a difficult job, depends on your level of dedication to it.
That being said, one look at this guy tells you everything you need to know.
Variety is the key.
These youtubers and the like can't afford variety, though. I see these guys who play Super Mario Maker and they obviously can't stand the game anymore but as soon as they try to make videos about other shit (even if it is Super Mario World or things very similar to the main game) the video views plummet and to avoid being punished by the algorithms they go back to the same old game.
When something becomes a repetitive activity your brain stops rewarding you and you just feel monotony and boredom.
>the video views plummet and to avoid being punished by the algorithms they go back to the same old game.
This is why you don't become someone who caters to actual children.
Being paid for anything or being a "professional" at gaming that isn't developing (including game bug testers) or having anything to actually contribute to developing a game is pathetic. >"hurr durr youre just mad that people sit all day playing videogames and get paid for it"
on the contrary, i feel fricking bad for morons who decided to make a small hobby like this into their daily job because then the fun out of videogames disappears. But it's the quickest way to make a buck, so they keep doing it.
Competing at the top level in literally anything is extremely taxing. Too many humans on the planet, no matter what you choose there'll be a ton of others and some will autistically obsess over the thing to an insane degree.
Like how Ronda Rousey was talked about as the greatest female fighter ever - that's just because it hadn't caught on yet, and there weren't serious female fighters in the ring. Once they started showing up she got BTFO and her career died.
he's an embodiment of it for sure. when the two busty chicks from xenoblade got into smash he was on twitter arguing with other morons about how sexist and terrible it was that attractive females were added to the party game he sucks at. i'm sure he got so much poon for being an internet white knight.
of course, he's a smash player, so naturally said poon would be underage. but that's par for the course for a leftist so...
It must be pretty embarrassing to be a eceleb who plays fighting games competitively because sometimes you're just going to lose and get fricked in front of thousands of people.
Though the real pros just take the loss and continue to improve rather than wallow in depression.
>have to play the same game knowing its ins and outs >you will only ever get any meaningful income if you can consistently win in tournaments >have to constantly improve otherwise you'll get beat out by literally any fricko who sweats at your game as much as you do. >most of your income will come from generous donators >still probably have to work an actual job because you dont earn any actual money >have to constantly stay relevant while also playing meta characters otherwise you're throwing away potential income.
If you're a turbo autist that doesnt mind playing 1 or 2 games 24/7 for the rest of your life, then It's fine I guess.
For most normal people, nah that shit sucks ass. There probably isnt a single job out there that doesnt suck ass after doing it for years.
Only when you're old and washed up like ESAM is.
Look at his onions coomer consoomer physiognomy.
How is that a real person?
Are you a real person?
Are any of us even real?
Sounds like something a program would respond with.

Why were they never able to make a good follow up to Paradise?
I strongly believe, and I don't think I'm out of line in saying this, I strongly believe that competitive pro gamers are modern day heroes.
