No
how else is Gamefreak going to milk morons?
have they not already? Don't think anyone thinks the next remake will be a FRLG/HGSS/ORAS style "make an old game with the current gen engine and artstyle" kind of remake. Not that anyone would want to go through Unova with SV's ass ugly artstyle.
What do you mean? Gamfreak will always make generations
Every generation pre-Gen 7 had all the games within the generation able to connect to one another to trade/battle/transfer, they had an artstyle for the generation, things like that.
They still make new regions of course but what is "Generation 8" about PLA or BDSP? They have nothing to do with SwSh in the slightest.
I don't know what you think generation means. It's just the time period. They were released after SWSH but before SV.
I don't think you understand how this works.
LGPE isnt really gen 7 IMO. It's Gen 8
LGPE, like Legends, is totally removed from what came before and after it.
IIRc Masuda once said they'd be leaving the usual formula pattern(the only to exactly same gens were 3 and 4 anyways).
Hence we not expecting a third Paldea game and a Let's go Johto being rumored. And PLA's whole existence.
That said, you still have gens, which is why you could make the pic in the first place.
PLA was a direct prequel to a previous game, tied its announcement and release with BDSP and was heavily referenced in the following game.
LGPE onwards generations don’t really exist anymore. Every pair of games is effectively just its own thing.
Pikachu and Eevee are Gen 8
Legends of Arceus are Gen 9
why
generations have always been a social construct thougheverbeit
Isn't a generation supposed to be the games that introduce new pokemons?
I guess it get confused on LA for introducing new versions of old pokemons
New generation = New starters for the children of that generation to grow up with
generations haven't existed since the move to the switch but the pattern obsessed poketards are retroactively changing the definition of generation for each new game since, just to not having to deal with reality.
>What do you mean finding new information helps narrowing down a concept's proper characteristics and definition???
it's a social construct. there never was anything to figure out. you're just changing the arbitrary rules for each new game.
No, they're just not nearly as rigid with the concept of generations as they used to be. It used to be pretty cut and dry: We'd get a new game, a third version, and usually a remake that used the same engine. Nowadays it's still pretty clear that SWSH are gen 8 and SV are gen 9, but there are also a bunch of oddities like LGPE and PLA (and maybe even BDSP) that exist as their own things.
Has Gamefreak ever categorized them in Generations? I thought it was a fan term invented to have pointless arguments about how everyone is shit.
Not really.
They did categorize the mons themselves in 11 chunks named as "discovered in X region"(regardless of oddities, so Archaludon is Paldea).
But not the games.
i mean they do usually use it in marketing for the new games, like "get ready for a new generation of Pokemon!" but that's it
Did anyone not realize they want to abandon generations when GOshit got it's own new Pokémon?
