It is in no way as bad as they make it out to be. It is essentially a total conversion mod for Civ5. But it has its moments, like affinities and units. If you want to get it get it on sale with the expansion.
If you want a Civ 4X in space with more meat get Alpha Centauri or Civ4 and play the mods like final frontier.
>like affinities and units
They look good and the concept is there but balance and mecanics fall flat.
You got all these wild upgrades but you'd just be using 3-5 kinds as effectively.
It's basically Civ5 except worse. If you really love Civ5 but you've already played it too much, so you want something similar except with a few unique gimmicks, then maybe it's worth checking out. Otherwise, it is to be avoided.
It is legitimately interesting but not anywhere near as good as it could've been.
People seething about it haven't played Alpha Centauri in years and are the same type of people to tell you XCOM is horrible just because its not X-com.
Is it as good as Alpha Centauri? Of course fricking not. Is it better than most of the turn based shit civ-alikes that come out 200 a month now? Yes.
Absolutely not. It's a Civ 5 mod, and I say that in the worst way possible. There are numerous orphaned mechanics and half assed ideas, the game was dumbed down in development as well. Just play SMAC.
So you have dementia or something? You are asking this question every other week. What's even the end goal here? Are you under the impression anyone is angry or offended, and not just tired with your shitposting?
Which civ is the best? I've played only 5 and I heard 6 isn't as good for some reason. Yeah, I don't like the cartoony style too.
Or are there better than civ games in the same genre?
6 is good, it's just trying new things. V feels like a beta in comparison. It's hard to play V now because it lacks so many of 6's innovations, far better to go back to IV.
The actual bad things about 6 don't really affect the game too much, or are minor.
if you want to spend an eternity minmaxing yields by planning out all district locations in advance, microing all builders, swapping around your policies and governors every other turn, all while looking at goofy-ass faces, then civ 6 is the perfect game for you.
if you want to just build an empire in a game with self-confidence enough to take itself seriously, then civ 5 is the only option that allows this. civ 5 is better because there's less time dedicated to bullshit meaning more of your time will be on the core of civ, meaning expanding your empire while dealing with other players (where in civ 5 they are somewhat less moronic due to the lack of agendas and excessive emotes)
It's pretty awful. Feels very much like a cash grab. AI is (somehow) even worse than 5 so the challenge is nonexistent. Maybe it's better in MP?
The presentation is quite nice, that's about it.
Beyond Earth is worth picking up on sale if you've played Civ 5 and enjoy it enough that a remix of Civ 5 with ugly art direction is seems interesting. If you do pick it up make sure you get the expansion with it. It doesn't fix any of the core problems with the game, but it does add a bit more variety.

>is trash worth picking over garbage
No.

alpha centauri is a better game in all aspects except user interface

this is one of these games where the soulless meme really is true, it's just civ 5 remade without any soul

No. Stop asking every 5 days.

are you having a meltdown homosexual? check archive theres nothing you might be the one having dementia
Not really, but I like it.
Better than 6 at least

>being soulless corporate slop designed for toddlers and low IQ redditors is "trying new things"
Massive cope
>6 is good
No, it is not.
It's okay. I got it on sale and put 30 hours into it so I technically got my money's worth. Alpha Centauri is better in basically every way.
Only if you want a spacewank

It's pretty much Civ 5 but somewhat worse and with a pretty different feel. Worth it if you're bored with Civ 5.
I like it more than Civ 6.
